The Dark Knight The Official Katie Holmes/Rachel Dawes Thread!!

They used a character they called Catwoman, not Catwoman we know and love.

Still, when you google "catwoman" all you get is pics of Halle in her s&m suit.

Im against Selina-Catwoman. I dont miss this character at all. It doesn't feel right if Rachel dies and we see Bruce looky looky nooie nookie with Selina. It disconnects him with the fans especially the female audience.
Im a guy but I dont like that arc because its the same with what I went through. I was steady with my girlfriend for 4 years,we broke it off and a month later she got preggers with another guy. I hated her for that.
It seemed our relationship was all a game for her. The loser dumped her too and now she wants me back. What for? to be her son's Mary Poppins?

Ole Smiley Face killing Rachel is also so Gwen-esque. Im not a Spiderman purist but that's what the Marvel fans are mocking this TDK Rachel-Joker death plotline.

Katie is such a rebel these days and is she gonna use this killer heels for the Joker? LMAO!

So you don't want Catwoman, because:

a) it somehow "disconnects" him with the female audience (I don't see how that's even possible, I'd say it's the exact opposite)

and

b) due to a bad experience you had with another girl, you feel if you see Bats ditch Rachel (which didn't happen) and go with Catwoman (which he always does anyway), you will feel those same bad and surpressed feelings come out again?

Am I getting this right?

I don'y think she should die because when harvey goes over the deep end they're going to need a new DA and who better than Rachael who is in league with bats so tehy won't have to bring a new guy in and have to make him join up some how.

For me its all about Nolan not taking the free fall creativity or the predictable pathway. I know Bruce didnt ditch Rachel,it was she but my setting was that if Rachel dies and we see no mourning from Bruce but a quick hookup with Selina is out of character and very demeaning.
The success of Spiderman was that he was so likable and his humanity was potent and Batman should maintain that too with the audience empathy link to him not the other way around.

The mantra of this franchise is a different Batman like no other Batman so I dont want a clone of 007,Mission Impossible of Alfie.

on THE SOUP they were making jokes about Tom and Katie. The host said that Katie is being pushed to get back in shape for role in the Batman sequel. Then he made some joke about their baby. Not that THE SOUP is a great news source or anything but he wouldn't just say that cause it felt right, some hollywood rumor must be circulating that she will be back in a way that she needs to get back in shape, so they may mean bigger then any of us want. Then again this is hollywood so who knows, she could be cut at the last second or it could all be rumors.

Fanboys asking about Katie again and a bit of spoilers...

Thanks for the Katie photos. Katie is one natural hottie and she's only getting sexier as she's nearing her 30's.
That's why I love Rachel because she's so prim and proper but ofcourse many knows she's very sexy if TPTB abuses that. All the more I want Rachel because she's a forbidden fruit.
LOL!

Rachel needs to be killed by the Joker right in front of Batman. to the Joker, just another hostage or another person in his set of killings, but to Batman it means something completely different ... another person from his youth being stolen away by a criminal. really, I just want to see Batman go completely nuts on the Joker's goons and the Joker himself. maybe it's Dent, maybe Gordon, but they stop him from beating the Joker to death (much like Gordon did in Hush) and put him in jail.

but that's just my little idea. I still think the death of Rachel would provide not only an interesting way to look at Bruce/Batman, since something like this hasn't been present in the past Bat films ... but also a curve ball for the audiences. do you think the general public are going to expect Rachel to get killed? I doubt it.

anyway, that's enough ranting for today

Even if Rachel stays in the franchise I dont see how that hinder Selina not appearing. If anything she wont appear if Nolan doesnt want to put a femme fatale character in or if the studio feels after the problems with Batman Returns and Catwoman it's not worth it and she'll be a distraction to the focus of Batman ( not my words, but you know directors and studios can give reasons like that)

If they do cast her I'd like to see Rosario Dawson get the role and if where streching here maybe Grechten Mol (Notorious Bettie Page) possibly Taylor Cole or Barbara Mori.
I dont think Angelina Jolie is gonna do Catwoman even if the studio offered it to her (which they wont...). Same with Charlize Theron even those 2 are the favourites for a lotta people (I wanted Theron for Catwoman for a long time but I dont think she's intrested either)

Rachel Weisz damnit!

The new generation is a totally different ballgame. Im not belittling the 60's,70's,80's etc... but times and the public has changed because of technology and people have more exposure. Even the knowledge and expectations are so much higher these days with TV and movie audiences so yes people wont be shock if Rachel dies because it does not take a Bat aficionado to wonder why Batman like James Bond got stuck with the same leading lady. Majority people are aware Batman is no happily married hero so they will still be quick to predict that Rachel could be a sacrificial lamb. Many people I can remember on the X-Men theatre were mocking how TPTB killed Cyclops and how they killed Jean Grey twice.
Most movies nowadays kill off their main characters and its a big trend on today's television gimmick especially on sweeps time and season finales/cliffhangers or series finales.
JJ Abrams likes death,Joss Whedon as well and no one is safe on 24 and Lost,ER,NYPD Blue etc, Shows on HBO ,FXare into character axings too from the Sopranos etc.

She looka lika bulldog to me ;)
If killing Dawes starts Waynes spiral downwards I'm all for it.

I read the Online petition on the other thread and its totally pointless.
Its a miracle for petitions to work and if petitions work this would have been our Bruce and Rachel as in Batman's Creek
http://katieholmes.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=77&pos=50

TV fans did petition for Josh Jackson as Batman as they badly wanted him reunited with Katie. JJackson did turn out to be one of the actors who auditioned for Batman. He ends up with Katie's character on DC not Dawson and is also the real life childhood sweetheart of Kate Holmes.
I know who will be the first signers on the Anti-Katie campain for Batman and that would be Tom Cruise. I doubt he will like the idea of his wife to be working with her first love. Mu-ha-ha-ha!!
(saw all this on VH-1 and Dawson's Creek THS/True Hollywood story)

If they kill Rachel in TDK, then it will be TOO dark movie :down

Um... why?

Look at the deaths we had in BB. Ra's Al Ghul (Ken Watanabee), Both of the Waynes (Which is really only as graphic as they'd need to go with her death), Carlton Finch, Joe Chill, Ra's Al Ghul (Liam Neeson... at least, he's dead for now).

How would killing one character in a sequel to a movie that killed 6 (at least... I don't know the exact count, truth be told. There could be more.) make it too dark, at least to a level above BB?

Ras was actually villian (they die in almost every movie).

About Joe Chill and Bruce's parents, they should have died, because Chill deserved it as a bad guy and without the death of parents Bruce wouldn't become Batman.

Also, I was talking about the death of love interest. Just imagine what would happen, if MJ or Lois Lane diesd? The same goes to Rachel.

it would be like killing alfred.

just is too....off.

No it wouldn't.

Rachel Dawes is someone who just popped up out of nowhere - Alfred is an established Batman character.

Killing Alfred would completely change the course of the storyline - Killing Rachel wouldn't mean an awful lot.

^^^

As I said, killing Rachel will be just like killing Lois Lane or MJ.

That would make TDK as too dark movie, what also isn't right.

But Rachel played a huge role in transforming Bruce to Batman along with Alfred and his father but let's not forget Bruce thanked Rachel at the end for making him see the light.
I like Katie and Rachel but I also know if she dies it really spices up the plot because once again Batman loses his lifeline and goes ala Dark Vader to the dark side. It will be a true test to him how he wants to avenge Rachel's death by killing or letting the Joker go into trial.
So Im torn but my other problem is that this storyarc is not too original because its reminiscent of Gwen the childhood sweetheart of Spiderman killed by Green Goblin.
Nolan did say this film will be darker. We're all aware that Batman is not kiddie friendly and caters mostly to the adults but times like this we also cant completely alienate the female viewers. They are such an asset to the box office with so many films flopping of late.
Its only this year that the box office jumped started again but all studios are still struggling for upping the theatre attendance.
WB will still like their cash no matter what especially they lost big bucks from Poseidon,Lady in the Water and SR.
SR were mostly male attended and their female attendees were a disappointment. WB was really disappointed. Fox even gave SR a run for its money with Devil Wears Prada and Disney's Step up and Pirates really up with their female attendance which was so successful and more bucks which made studio execs so happy.
Rachel's presence brings balance to the movie so we shall see what TPTB does.

I hope she's back too. Kate was remarkable and so perfect as Rachel.
I hope her storyline is a good one and original. She's a babe.

is it just me or in the past year, has she completely lost her "teenage" look? looking at the most recent pics, she looks A LOT more like an adult then she did in BEGINS. in BEGINS she def. looked younger then bale, i dont think thatds the case any more, especially if Nolan captures her right.

i think having a baby may have aged her, for the better.
