The Official Lex Luthor Casting Thread - Part 4

JRM always came to my mind when I thought of an actor for Lex. His age IMO, would make an interesting element if were cast. Saying how Lex has just started out with Lexcorp, and his youth is one of the factors for him being big-headed :)

Creatively, I've always liked Lex being young to start of with. To show him age and his own idea of perfection to slowly leave him, whilst his rival remains the same. Cause Lex nearly always tried to keep himself as perfect looking as Superman.

As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if if the movie changed his history a bit in this movie. Saying as how there is no Lexcorp or anything, I'm betting by the end of Man Of Steel, Lex manages to take control of a company that he's working for, and turns into his own.

meyers is around the same age as amy adams lol

i too prefer a younger lex due to physicality and it is mroe interesting

Meyers would be an awesome choice IMO but sadly I don't think he's even being looked at nor do I think he even wants the role

I'd rather see a full-on established Lex Luthor akin to TAS or All Star Superman.

The only medium where we've got the young boyish Lex Luthor is CW's Smallville and I'd rather not see that portrayal retreaded when there's so much room for something drastically different.

JRM would feel like Rosenbaum 2.0.

Why can't Lex be mid thirties and fully established? He's supposed to be a prodigy.

Rhys-Meyers looks boyish next to Cavill in that clip. Still not feeling him for Luthor.
Me neither. Also, Meyers comes off as kind of...weak to me in everything I've seen him in (including several seasons of The Tudors). He just doesn't have the aura of strength or charisma that Lex needs, imo.

If Lex and (or) Lexcorp isn't featured at all in some way, then I don't think he will be established as he is in the comics.

But then again, he might be, but He and Lexcorp aren't based in Metropolis.

Lexcorp could still be well-established even without Lex being heavily featured (or even meeting him at all this go-round). I mean, just because Wal-mart or Disney may be virtually omnipresent doesn't mean we see the CEO's of those companies around or on the news all the time.

Yeah, but Walt Disney's dead :p

You're right though, that's probably the strongest possibility.
But until Lexcorp is at least mentioned somewhere down the line, I'm thinking nothing is established yet.

I personally hope they don't make Lexcorp the Superverse version of a Wal-Mart or Disney. If they want to stick to the idea that Lex is selling his inventions rather than using them for holding the world ransom, make Lexcorp more science/technology oriented.

Of course I wasn't suggesting that LexCorp would be Wal-Mart or Disney in terms of output - I was speaking simply in terms of size and public awareness. If Lex is gonna be one of the richest men in the world, his corporation will probably be as well-known or omnipresent as those. While I'm sure its focus will be defense contracts and combat/science technology, I'd expect it to also have a hand in the multimedia world and consumer tech as well.

Im thinking I could live with it but I would prefer someone else...
A QUICKY

Meh. If they use Lex in these films, Luthor needs to be in his 40s, like in the comics. I don't buy Rhys-Meyers as a tycoon, successful engineer or man who controls Metropolis.

Luthor shouldn't look like a guy in a boyband.

seeing how he successfully was King freaking henry being lex is not hard

how does he look like a boy band member lol why because he is good looking lol

He's pretty convincing as a ruthless king controlling his kingdom with an iron fist. Looking more like a boyband member than the real Henry...but he still sells it!

JRM has all the qualities to make an excellent Lex.

Yeah, he may have a boyish look, but there's something unnerving about his face. He has the face, particularly eyes, of a psycho, which can be easily hidden with a smile. Which is perfect for Lex.

Yea he would...that's first thing I thought when I saw him and Cavill on screen together

Well that sucks he would have been a good choice

^i agree he was ruthless and very intense

I think he could pull it off. No , he's not the fan image of Lex , but then again , imo he's what Lex would be in the reality of 2012 . A younger, ambitious , suave , corporate raider and not the older CEO of the comics and Lois and Clark.

I've had two choices for Lex the whole time, either Viggo Mortensen or Daniel Day-Lewis. Sadly, it doesnt even look like Lex will have much of a role in this, other than a mention or a cameo of some sort.
