The Official Lex Luthor Casting Thread - Part 6

I have a question for everyone, do you think Lex needs to be bald in the MOS universe?

Of course. Why shouldnt he be? Cant be compared to Supes' spitcurl anyways.

The baldness won't bother me either way.

I'd like it if he was, but only if they use it. It can be an insecurity that moulded him, and adds to his jelousy of the physically perfect Supes, but they only really explored that in Smallville - in all the previous films, he was just bald because he was bald... And they never did anything with it.

That said, I freaking loved John Shea's Luthor, and never felt that leaving out that part of the character mattered too much on the show.

So as long as Luthor is well written and played by an awesome actor, I won't mind the visual change.

The Clancy Brown Luthor is the best Luthor.

Its a matter of finding out who can portray him in that style

Even by an actor who's 45 and looks 65? :D

Well that's really a question of whether they can still look/act like the badass, intimidating but charming Lex that we all wanna see...

The visuals of hair or no hair doesn't effect that. Age most definitely could :p

That's understandable :)

Issacs is still going to look in a few years.

I fear Benicio will end up looking like the Kingpin by that time, but maybe he could do that! :hehe:

I think we've all been missing the obvious choice -

:funny: Okay, for some reason the image wasn't working when I posted that question.

Don't worry, I don't like under a rock, I know who Statham is :p

Though personally, i'm not a fan in general, let alone for Lex.

I like that idea, in fact, how about this...

Lex Luthor: Jason Statham
Bizarro: Sylvester Stallone
Brainiac: Dolph Lundgren
Metallo: Randy Couture
Parasite: Terry Crews
Mxzptlk: Jet Li

And for Justice League:

Batman: Chuck Norris
Martian Manhunter: Arnold Schwarzenegger
The Flash: Bruce Willis
Aquaman: Mickey Rourke
Green Lantern: Jean-Claude Van Damme

I am surprised this hasn't been suggested yet but what about Michael Stuhlbarg.

Seriously? Boardwalk Empire, A Serious Man, MIB 3...

I think my thoughts have come across Stuhlbarg for Lex before, but that was it. He's definitely Lex-material and a great actor, but I think I want a more imposing Lex physically this time. Stuhlbarg is not really imposing, just creepy.

In fairness, it probably has. I mean, have you looked through all previous Lex casting threads? :p

Stuhlbarg is bald and a decent actor, no argument, but I dunno - I don't get this likeable charisma off him.

Whilst Lex is obviously the villain of the story, if they're going for the CEO/politican angle, then he has to have incredible charisma and come across as hugely likeable to the general populace. It's only us (the audience), Superman and a few select others who will know what he's really like behind closed doors.

Whatever actor they cast in the role has to be believable, but also has to be naturally charismatic.

I agree. He shouldnt come across as an obvious villain, which is why I dont get the support for Isaacs, Craig and the likes.

I did support Mark Strong myself, but I think it SHOULD be someone likable. And not obvious at all. Preferably played by a big name not associated with these types of roles, so the GA wont suspect too much.

how would daniel craig a guy who has played nothing but good guys - Cowboys and aliens, james freaking bond, girl with dragon tattoo, dream house, defiance, munich, etc. be seen as typical in the same vein as an isaacs and strong?

i dont think i have ever seen craig play a villain he fits with your big name not associated with these types of roles, so the GA wont suspect too much.

james bond playing a villain:oldrazz:

I want Lex bald. BUT, if they go the non bald route I'm ok as long as they don't use the hair loss as a motive or as going insane. To me that's just lame. I'm sorry but if i had THAT much money and i lost my hair, then I'm just going to get a sick ass wig or good ass surgery lol...i WILL NOT vow vengeance lol.
