What about Julian McMahon for Lex? I know he was a pretty lousy Dr Doom, but I think that was miscasting and as much to do with the way the character was presented in FF. He's a pretty decent actor, and has enough charm/good looks/smugness to pull off a billionaire Lex.

The only negative I would find with McMahon is that he's played the Lex-type so many times from the Charmed series, to the Fantastic Four movies, and even sometimes as Christian Troy in Nip/Tuck. And for some reason his movies don't do too well either, but he is in no way as low as the Billy Zane level.

I'd like to see Michael C. Hall as Lex. Dexter has shown that he can mix charm and charisma with menace and psychotic tendencies. Plus, he's a fantastic actor who needs a big movie role now that his tv show is ending. Jon Hamm and Billy Zane would be good as well. An evil genius Don Draper would be awesome.

Yeah he has played that type of role a few times, but he does it so well. If he got Lex I imagine he'd sink his teeth into it - Lex Luthor as a character really is the pinnacle of vast wealth, huge confidence and a certain amount of smugness.

He's balding slightly too so if they wanted to go for the full bald Lex look he would probably carry it off fine.

Have to agree with Sawyer, the role of Dr Doom was just terribly written in FF from day one. I don't think McMahon actually did anything really bad in terms of the effort he put into it, it's just that the character/lines/motivations (and rest of the film I guess) were poor. I don't think any actor would have redeemed that.

McMahon is a good actor; he was brilliant on Nip/Tuck. His Doom was awful, but those movies were absolute garbage other than Chris Evans' Human Torch, so I can't really fault him for that. Not sure that I would want to see him as Lex though.

McMahon is a good actor. Like others have already said, he was given a terribly written role. McMahon apparently even tried to give Doom an accent, but the director told him not too. He could have played a good Doom in a better movie. I think McMahon would be acceptable, but I would prefer Michael C. Hall or Jon Hamm.

Michael C. Hall could read a phone book and make it sound awesome. Jon Hamm is Don Draper, enough said. McConaughey is currently undergoing a massive career comeback. Killer Joe proved that he can play a sleaze ball. All three would be good choices.

I even think Denzel Washington would be great. I once thought he was too old (maybe he is for Snyder's vision) but I don't care.
