Sequels The Official Remy LeBeau/Gambit Thread

What would you like to see in a movie Gambit?

  • Cast Josh Holloway!

  • Don't cast Josh, but cast somebody about that age

  • Give me a young Gambit!

  • Rogue and Gambit make such a CEE-YUTE couple!

  • Please, no lovey-dovey stuff with Rogue and Gambit!

  • I have absolutely no idea...

I'm very curious as to how Gambit's personality will turn out in the Movies. I hope they show his cunning and his witty banter during fights. Or him talking himself out of a fight.

If you're looking for more than just "kewl" dialogue from movie-Gambit, you'll probably be very disappointed.

*doesn't expect to see Gambit in a movie any time soon* :(

God helps that he won't have any "witty lines" during battles, that's if we ever see him in a movie. Seriously, I don't think there can be a worse cliche than people blabbing during confronts. Unfortunately, it happens in almost every super-hero movie. Every hero must try to be funny in between a punch and a kick. Argh.

Amen to that!

To be fair, though, that's basically what Gambit does. Have you read books where he's battled? He nearly ALWAYS has something to say during the fight. If they didn't do it he just wouldn't seem right.

I don't care if there's little comedic quips, that comes with every action movie. I just don't want them to throw them in for the sake of it.

I agree. If the hero is going to use quips, they need to have an illustrated purpose. Spidey makes all the jokes he does as a way of not letting everything get to him and they did a fairly good job of showing that in the movies. Gambit on the other hand does it just to play mind games with people. I hope they manage to show that as well.

Yeah that's what i meant. Of course they shouldn't throw those quips in just for the sake of it. He distracts his enemies by cracking jokes, flirting with them and irritating them. How can you not want Gambit to do that? And i don't think it's true that every superhero movie has characters making jokes during fights. None of the X-men were funny, Spiderman wasn't, Batman wasn't, Superman wasn't, The Hulk totally wasn't, Dare Devil wasn't. Only the Human torch was supposed to be funny but he was way over the top.

Well, to be fair, Spidey's *supposed* to crack lame jokes. It's part of the geek thing he's got going on.:woot:

As PERFECT as Josh is for Gambit. We need to think BIG PICTURE. If it will be another trilogy that's 6 - 9 years... I think we need to think younger.

I vote for Matthew Bomer from TRAVELER, TRU CALLING, Texas Chainsaw...

Or Milo from HEROES (Peter Petrelli) or Dave Anable (Brothers & Sisters)...

Other than Milo, these are all terrible choices. And I like Milo, but he's not right at all for Gambit.

Dave..... interesting, but isn't as handsome as Gambit should be.

Josh.... never like him.

And Milo, like his role in Heroes, but hasn't the look for Gambit.

Rodrigo Santoro is a better candidate than those three.

Here a manip from other user (don't know who, maybe Falvio, not sure):

Gosh, I hope they DON'T give Gambit that black thing around his face. It looks ridiculous on a real human being.

I also hope they pick Ian Somerhalder for the role instead of Rodrigo Santoro. :D Just look at Ian's eyes - he IS Gambit!

I've seen Ian Somerhalder in like three different projects, and he stunk all three times. PASS.

I agree. He doesn't look like Gambit, and I have my doubts about his acting.

The real problem would lie in finding an actor who can carry the accent properly. Without Gambit just isn't Gambit.

I don't have any hope to see Gambit having a real cajun accent. All I see is him speaking some french words here and there, and a slight southern accent, like Rogue does when she's angry/nervous. Unfortunately, but I don't think they'll have the accent correctly at all.
Seeing as the movies generally caught only the essence of the characters (in some cases, others didn't have the essence correctly) that's what i expect them to do with gambit.
A mysterious, enchanting and charming guy with a tendency to betray and act by himself.

I don't know... If they do their homework they could find someone capable of doing an okay job with an acceptable accent.

But I don't want his accent to sound like the one they gave Rogue though. I thought whenever they had her fall into accent mode it just sounded horrible.

The problem is that they usually don't do their homework. I also wish we could get a perfect Gambit. But seeing as the movies have portrayed the characters, all I truly expect is a guy with the essence of Gambit (as I said before, mysterious, enchanting and charming guy who is hard to trust)

I'd love for movie Gambit to keep his Cajun accent, just as long as they don't overdo it and make him sound silly. Keep it real!

To be honest, I've never heard an Cajun accent in my life - I have no idea what it sounds like! :wow:
