Oh ok, so which one of these fights would you say Thor's fight with Loki was most similar to?

1) Spidey vs Doc Ock?

2) Hulk vs Abomination

3) Iron Man vs Iron Monger?

Just got back from it. I'd say it's comparable to Spidey vs. Doc Ock (final fight, not train fight). Very brief and not long enough. The only good fight scene is in the beginning against the frost giants, really.

neither, no action or anything spectacular. More like batman vs twoface from The Dark Knight.

Did you like the movie?

-Yes, though it doesn't hold a candle to the first Iron Man.

-Thor disposes all enemies like Ghost Rider did, practically in one hit. Only time Thor really gets to shine is in the beginning against the Frost Giants.

-Movie didn't feel like 2 hours either, but I'll watch it in 3D in a few weeks for a second viewing.

-Got to see Hawkeye briefly.

-Liked the "secret ending" post credits, nice set up to the Avengers!

-Loki didn't really come off as evil to me (except for a few notable instances), more misunderstood because of his jealousy and scheming.

I would have flown them to the movies and they would have thought that driving in a car would look stupid and i would look epic flying.

Really? You would have carried ALL FOUR of your friends in your muscular arms, along with your giant magic hammer?

Not really. More like Batman vs. Joker in Dark Knight, very short.

Actually, I saw the movie too. It's comparable to iron man, but a better. Specially the action and acting.

I'd say Thor is comparable to Iron Man 2. Iron Man and TIH are still better in my opinion.

My ratings for the films;
Iron Man - Was just missing an epic fight, to be *GFMOAT* (Greatest Fun Movie Of All Time :) )
Thor - Fun, but not as well resolved as IM.
TIH - Seemed a bit soulless.
IM2 - Absolutely hated Justin Hammer and also the droids.

I'm obviously rooting for CA to be at least better than TIH - not because he's a favourite character, just because that means quality is maintained :)

Bren I agree with most of your statements. Thor was just missing a few extra scenes of OOMPH to make it truly great classic.

Don't get me wrong, its really good and I'd say on level with the first X-men. Great introduction to cinemas for Thor. I just hope people like it and get it.

What it needed was a couple things like

FOR MIDGARD! or LOKI, I WOULD HAVE WORDS WITH THEE! Make it a little more like classic movie lines, thor comic-booky.

this is tied with Iron Man for best marvel movie but it also could be better, i have to see it again first.

When people say best Marvel movie they mean "Best Marvel Studios movie" right? Because I still think Spidey 2 and X2 are superior to IM and now Thor.

Also, I wish Thor had his helmet more. I just remembered he only wore it in the very beginning and never again. Not important, but even Loki wore his a lot throughout the movie. Didn't Tom say it was really uncomfortable in that thing? Dem "antlers" :p

Yeah he said that it was difficult to turn his head. Chris was saying last SDCC that Tom almost clocked him with those horns while they were rehearsing for the final battle lol

I guess this is how I could describe how I feel about the movie.

Bright side is they have no excuse not to use the Mandarin in IM3 now that we've introduced all of these magical/fantasy elements!

You know, I DON'T want to focus on the negatives when there were so many positives (which means it was a really good film), it's just, sitting here thinking...

When Thor transforms back to... err.. Thor, it is waaaaay short of the grandeur and absolute OMG factor that should have been powerful. Seriously, there is nothing. I mean, seriously nothing. Actually, Portman's acting/direction was irritating as hell in that scene!

Okay, I'm done. The film was good, I enjoyed. I shut up now.

Yeah, it felt extremely rushed. But that's how most of the movie felt like to me. Even the lengthy middle part of the movie with all the exposition didn't feel fully fleshed out. Still enjoyed it as I will be seeing it again in a few weeks.

I've seen it yesterday in 3d. 5/10.

It didn't leave me much, I was expecting much more, maybe I'd need to see it once again but for the time being I don't feel compelled to.
Visually it may be challenging but after a while you get tired of golden towers, lightnings etc.. There is too Much Asgard and too little Thor on Earth.
The acting was OK but nothing special, apart from Anthony Hopkins always above all the others.
The music sucks, the composer tried to make it sound epic but the result is boring and flat, never exciting.
This movie was a real let down.

Ok, now l wait for Cap.

Well, for the US, the week of Thor is about to arrive. I'm really anxious to see how US critics perceive the film. I really hope I like it too...I'm really going to try my best to go into the movie open-minded. I love all the movies that Marvel Studios have came out with, so I hope this is another addition to that for me!

I saw the movie yesterday with three friends and my 11 year old nephew. (Now, I'm the only ones who read comics of us four but we're all nerds to certain degrees.) I thought the movie was great for the most part. For starters the Asgard bits were the standout parts for all of us. And I would've liked the movie to spend more time there building up all the Asgardian relationships.

Now while the earth parts weren't horrible per se, it was a little boring to watch. I enjoyed that he wasn't a total fish out of water and knew what stuff was tho. Overall they could have made it like more time passed while he was in exile, as his whole development felt rather quick.

Chris Hemsworth impressed me a lot to. I thought he would be totally out acted but he gave one of the best performances in the whole movie, making Thor both believable and likable. Natalie Portman felt out of place and would've liked his relationship with Sif to get more explored. Need to mention Idris Elba to, I can totally see why they went with him. I mean, that voice. That is what a guardian of worlds should sound like.

Overall it was a good movie, it could easily have been 30 minutes longer with 20-25 of those being in Asgard. The rest showing the passage of time on earth. I enjoyed the early parts when Thor was arrogant and childish and I thought that was probably the most interesting portrayal of a super hero in a long time. And the Shield bits didn't feel as forced as in Iron Man 2. One thing I didn't think of until Thor landed on earth was that the Asgardians spoke with big and fancy words, worked really well.

One of the standout moments for me in the film, that I haven't seem mentioned here or else where. (Maybe I haven't looked good enough.)
When a captured Thor gets visited by Loki and just wants to come home. Superb scene which really showed what Hemsworth is made of.

By the way, I watched it in 3D as it was the only way available, it didn't bring anything to the table and I would rather watch it in 2D. Little nitpicks like Hogun having an accent which felt weird, and the movie not proparly explaining what the Odin Sleep was and the power level of the Asgardians. (Which my friends asked about, since it seemed to wary so much from character to character.) In the hands of a lesser director this could've been the ultimate cheese movie, in the league of Fantastic Four but Branagh handled it brilliantly.
