The Official 'Thor Rate & Review' thread - Part 3

OK I saw it for the 4th time (in the theaters that is :cwink:) .... but this time in 3D and I must say, it's a much better viewing that way. Colors pop better, everything is brighter, and aspects of Asgard are much more magnificent. 2D just doesn't capture things like the Rainbow Bridge and the awesome looking skylines where you can see the galaxy .....

it looks nicer, but 3d always just seems ... DARKER.. for me.

Serious? For me there were things that were sort of drowned out visually in 2D that now became as clear as day ..... Like Hawkeye's bow for example. I never noticed that it had purple in it until I saw it in 3D. The scene when Thor is revived by the hammer looked completely different to me, no longer blurry like before.

Nothing tops the guy who hated Superman Returns with every fiber of his being and yet saw it in theatres 13 times.

I hated it, and only saw it twice. One time in theaters and the other time was just after I bought my Ultimate Superman DVD collection and watched all the movies again. I figured what the hell, I'll give it another shot. Quickly realized why I had no desire to see it a 2nd time in theaters

I've never seen SR....not sure I WANT too. lol

All be honest. This is how I saw the movie....The cinematography is a nice blend of 50-60s Superman with Donner Superman films. You have a sense of the George Reeves Superman and Lois Lane with the Chris Reeve and Margot Kidder.

Kind of how Tim Burton mixed Batman '89 with different elements from the 80s and 30-40s decades. The story is awful, nothing that hasn't been done before. Put simply real estate is the plot. Brandon Routh as both Clark and Superman is very one dimensional, I guess Singer was afraid to let the man act or something. The film is driven by Kate/Lois, Kevin/Lex, and other supporting characters. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

Superman's outfit is a joke, too. The boots look too small, the briefs are too small, the cape is too dark and leather, the neck line is too high, and the color of blue is just off. The 'S' looks good, but is slightly too small IMO.

Oh and if you haven't heard
Superman has a kid..wtf???

The film was just a poor idea that never should have seen the light of day. It did nothing to elevate the Superman mythos or feature films under the Superman name.

I'll have to check it out when I have more cash. Unless it's in the 5 dollar bin at Walmart. lol

It comes on TV all the time on FX. Don't know if you are in the U.S. or not, but it comes on FX like every other month. Save your money.

Don't have cable, and yes I'm in the U.S.

The brand new 3D trailer for Green Lantern popped up today on Thor 3D this weekend.

It's kinda weird as the movie's been out for weeks now, but I guess the new trailer has been added to all of the Thor 3D prints as of this week. I didn't even know about a new GL trailer until today.

Sure, I didn't have any reason to think that at all. :whatever:

As you had reasons to believe I liked some other aspects as I have many times said how Loki and Odin were good. But you just left those opinions out.

LOL....Joe Swanson: "Hah!" I don't think I have ever heard someone say they are going to see a movie twice if it's just average. First time for everything, I guess.

You'd never thought having an open mind was possible?

Same here. So I'm not the only one.

That's why I can't wait to see this in HD on Blu-ray. I remember watching Batman Begins on DVD and Zsasz's scars were barely noticeable. On Blu-ray they're clear as day. Such a difference in quality.

3.5 out of 5 stars. Good popcorn entertainment, nice mix of humor and drama. Plot little cliche, but Thor's fall and rise was enjoyable watch.

True, but they're easily outweighed by the things you didn't like.

The biggest compliment I can give this movie is that it is much better than the current source material. 616 Thor is atrocious although the current Loki story is adorable that is because of Kid Loki, not Thor.

The film was Thor:The Mighty Avenger levels of good, and very similar.

Hello, guys. I can't believe it took me so long to do this but better late than never. As you can all see I'm a Batman girl but I went to see Thor even if I had never read any of his comic books. I did so because I like comic books and I like Kenneth Branagh and most of all I like movies.

That being said, I'm here to congratulate you Thor fans. It's an awesome movie. Well played, well-made and it revealed two talents Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. I had no doubts Brannagh knew what he was doing with the cast. But I was a little suspicious about the action sequences and he delivered. Great!

I hope The Avengers continues to do a good job with the character. Take care you all!

Obrigado, BrazilianBatFan! É uma boa época para se ser fã do Thor.

Still an okay movie with a decent amount of good. So I still can enjoy the fantastic first part with the fight against the ice people, then go and have a snack and come back for the final confrontation. :yay: I just have to be careful and not missing the Loki-Odin scene.

Well hey, that's one more ticket sale for Thor.

Absolutely. Although I missed some more faith in the movie. "I'm sure you're going to like it more if you see it a second time" or so. I myself have faith enough to give it a second chance.

Yeah, I loved Thor the first time I watched it but I definately enjoy it even more the 2nd and 3rd times.

I'm all for supporting the good films. So by all means go bananas!
