yea rourke got robbed BIG TIME
I was disappointed that we didn't get an awesome Rourke acceptance speech, that's what.
To the guys disappointed that Pfister didnt win...it was impossible for any movie to beat Slumdog in any category,i'm really surprised TDK took the only award from it.
I mean,look at Wall-E...only one award,The Wrestler no awards,Doubt no awards,Frost/Nixon no awards...TDK has two and in a sweeping year that's awesome!
Indeed. I was FULLY prepared for a Slumdog sweep, and for TDK to take one away in sound was a surprise.
...even though it really should have gone to Wall-E. But whatever. We've gone through this already.
tentpole in the fall.... Button was suppose to win visuals...but i am shock dog didn't get nominated for it too.... seeing how it's so cinematically stunning and all....
The CGI poop on that kid was phenomenal.
Button really was supposed to win Best VFX, guys. The aging work that they did on Brad Pitt was astonishing. I mean, it isn't like last year, when Golden Compass won over Pirates. THAT was a down-and-out farce.
I disagree. Havent you ever heard that if you want to win an Oscar, play a ******ed person?? Thats because The Academy respecs that. It does not matter how good your performance is in a movie aboout wrestling...its wrestling...and the academy "knows" that wrestling is not worthwhile entertainment. It is beneath them. Therefore, Rourke stood no chance...no matter how good the film or how good his perf'ormance.
Year after year, the Oscars can be easily predicted based on who's "turn" it is to win and which liberal cause was celebrated.
People really thought Sean Penn's recent win for Mystic River would have given Mickey the win tonight. But it's not really an upset - Sean DID win the SAG.
I think the Best Actor race was
really close. I also have the feeling that TDK won Best Sound Editing by a hair over Slumdog, considering Slumdog took Sound Mixing.
I missed the sucktastic (according to Nikki Finke) opening number, but the musical production with Beyonce and Hugh was cool...until the HSM kids showed up! Aaaaagh.
And WHHYYYYY did they seat Edward Cullen from Twilight behind Mickey Rourke? He doesn't need the effin' camera time! Utter fail.
I'm surprised that Chris Nolan showed up after all, though.
