The Reboot Joker

Oh man!!!! Mark Hamill Joker all the way!

I'm just torn because he's obviously shooting Star Wars and I want him in that too. DAMMIT!

I know! I'm surprised that I haven't seen more call for him to be in the role. His return to the BIG FRANCHISE might make it more of a real-ish possibility.

And as far as Star Wars goes, he'll be done filming Episode VII this year. No reason he can't play Joker on an off-year in the Star Wars franchise -- 2016, 2018...

@anonomissx THANKS so much for the Joke manip you did. Pretty much appreciated. :D

All of the press releases talk about Batman being older and weary. It appears obvious, to me at least, that the DCCU has a Batman that predates Superman and Wonder Woman, and that he's been in operation for at least 10 years.

But you said that everyone in Batman's world was older. Superman, Wonder Woman and Alfred are all in Batman's world, and they seem as youthful (or otherwise) as ever. Batman, admittedly, does seem older than we sometimes see him (at least in Batman Begins), but we can't assume that his adversaries will all follow suit.

Even if they do, at 41, Ben Affleck is perhaps five years older that a "vanilla" interpretation of the character may be. At 62, Mark Hamill is at least 20, and probably more like 25 years older than The Joker tends to be. He is 33 years older than Heath Ledger was in TDK. Why do you assume that The Joker "started out" so much earlier than Batman? Doesn't Batman customarily "create" The Joker?

Let me stress that I love Mark Hamill's Joker. I just think it would be more appropriate to a live action movie where Batman was played by someone like Harrison Ford.

Did...I miss something?
Someone mentioned Adrian Brody want's to portray The Joker, and asked for a manip. That tripped my trigger, since Adrian is a snazzy dresser, and can do that never-ending unsettled danger as well as Joker's little bit of sadness. I posted in the manip thread, but I thought it deserved a home here too.So, here is my half assed version, enjoy.

this.

They should have brought that guy in to wrap up the Joker in The Dark Knight
Rises. I can really see him as a Ledger Joker type.

I agree to a point however i think he could bring in a new style of joker a mix between nicholson and ledgers

Joker doesn't need to have the Ledger glasgow smile or the Nicholson grin again, we've had that. You want an actor with an expressive enough face. Somebody who doesn't need over the top stuff over his mouth. Willem Dafoe has the perfect face for the Joker. I don't care if he will be in his sixties by the time Joker may or may not appear :hehe:

Dafoe for Joker. I don't care if turns out to just be Goblin v2. He is perfect.

Hell yeah. I love Dafoe. He would be awesome. Even if, like someone said, he just did GG v2. I'd be all for it.

I love Dafoe but he'd be the most boring choice for Joker ever and that is because he played The Green Goblin. I'm not saying we need an offbeat choice I just think Dafoe would be a "been there, done that" choice.

I still am caught up on the idea of an actual stand up comedian playing Joker, but I can't think of one that fits and has the potential to also do the scary and dramatic stuff.

Any suggestions?

Word is Steve Carrell gave a performance of his career in Foxcatcher. The little glimpses we've seen are creepy, but he neither fits the look or age for the part unfortunately.

I'd like to see Adam Scott try his hand at a few dramatic roles. Guy has very a "comic booky" face, but he does have a charm to him.

"What came first, the chicken or the egg?...NEITHER, CAUSE I KILLED BOTH OF THEM!!!!!!" *maniacal laughter as he flicks the button and releases lethal laughing gas on his audience*

Scott can do *****e bag and menace for sure and he's pretty funny in interviews.

OK. I'm throwing him on the "maybe" pile.

I don't think knowing he would be awesome makes him boring. I don't even care if it's the same GG performance. Nicholson wasn't exactly a "never saw that before" performance and he too was awesome. I really don't mind how it's done or who it comes from, "safe" bet or off-the-wall choice, I just want to see an awesome Joker.

As much of his persona was in the role, Nicholson doesn't have any other performance which is so similar to his turn as Joker. When he cuts loose, it's an entirely new level of crazy.

We've seen Dafoe reach said peaks already. When we're coming off Ledger, who was so damn original and left-field, Dafoe is a huge downgrade.

True, Shining was up there, but we knew he had it in him,

I disagree. A good Joker is a good Joker. That's all I care about.

Good is indeed good either way you cut it. My point is what we just had was great. Comparatively speaking, following it up with 'good' is moving backwards.

Expecting EVERY film to have a breakout, once in a lifetime performance in it is worse than going "backwards". It's the epitome of having your expectations raised too high every time and therefore never being able to enjoy the vast majority of the product you are going to come across in this genre.
