The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 10

Does anyone think this rumor is to gauge whether FOX should pull ahead with another FF film? Like the fact that there's a reaction (even if its negative) means that there's interest in the Fantastic Four, which means that they can milk this franchise for all its worth (even though Fant4stic bombed hard)?

I think that's probably very likely. And to go a little further, I can picture most of Fox management thinking this is as terrible an idea as it actually is with maybe one or two Kinberg-type morons wanting to try it.

If that's the case, the majority sane managers are probably enjoying the reaction on social media.

Such as this:

*edit* link deleted because language might upset mods, but just search #fantasticfour for some entertainment.

Not a whole lot of excitement for this project. :funny:

No. IF this is true, I am not lying, but, yes, they'll still make money without me. They just won't make "my" money.

BTW, the fact that you say "or don't" concedes that you know some of us aren't lying.

Yeah, I haven't been going to any Fox Superhero films - not as any sort of official boycott, but because I just think they make crappy films and I'm not interested. If this actually becomes official, I'm done.

Not only will I make a point of not seeing any Fox films, but I'll do my best to help make #boycottfox a thing.

My ideal scenario if this doesn't go back to Marvel is a 60s period piece directed by Brad Bird. I don't know if that would fit with Marvel's plans but obviously Marvel getting the rights back either way would be preferable to most.

Brad Bird already made that film and the sequel is coming next year.

That's depressing.

I wonder if the majority of Fox loyalists are actual comic book fans, going against these characters' interests.

We saw during Fant4stic that the most vocal supporters didn't give a s*** about FF.

That's the situation Fox has put themselves in. The only people who claim to be interested in their FF films are full of s***. That's not a good way to sell tickets.

I had a sort of scary thought.

This idea is so stupid, and the reaction from fans is so unambiguous that it's almost certainly not going to happen.

But what if this is just a set-up? What if they're floating this crappy idea with the thought that they can them come out with a plan to do a serious, faithful FF film?

Most of the people here along with me will still not be interested, but some more casual fans might react positively to that. And maybe that's their real plan. To get people worked up over this so they'll be glad when they hear something better.

Thats horrible news and I don't know what's worse. The news itself or people on this site that call themselves comicbook fans and actually defend this.

I wake up to this BS rumor? F'n HELL! :cmad:

It better stay that, a rumor!

Anybody who defends this has zero credibility. Just ignore them. Anybody who would defend this would have to be an extreme Fox fart-sniffer, and I have no interest in the faux opinions of Fox fart-sniffers.

Who is that? Mr and Mrs Kinberg? :o

Or complete contrarians, which is what we saw last time round. I bet some of them would still come out of the woodwork to defend this tooth and nail even though they saw what happened before.

Forget for a moment that nobody wants Fox to do another FF film of any type.

Forget for a moment that this story idea is the worst story concept we've heard for any Marvel film in the past 20 years.

Let's focus for a moment on Seth Grahame-Smith. Seth Grahame-Smith is a hack writer who has never written anything worthwhile.

Fox thinks he's the guy to put them back on track with FF? That should tell anybody everything they need to know. Either this is BS or Fox really has completely gone off the deep end.

If we end up hearing more about this then yeah, it's inevitable. Weird how it was only ever the posters with a chip on their shoulder against the MCU, eh?

Even if this was being seriously considered by Fox, I can't imagine even they could be stupid enough to move forward.

Fox management is waking up to a somewhat different response to this than they did the morning after the Deadpool footage leaked. I had to delete the Tweet I linked to (one of the most popular I saw on the subject) because I realized it would probably violate the forum rules because it was a video of an obscenity laced rant. :funny:

And that's very representative of the broad reaction to the rumor.

How could a Fox manager possibly face shareholders and try to explain why they green-lighted this project after the last film lost so much money and the public reaction to this one was overwhelmingly negative?

As much as I loath Fox I was still going to cave in and support Planet Of the Apes 3 but at this point. I'm not giving Fox s!#$!

F4, Dr. Doom, Annihilus, Silver Surfer and Galactus are the picture for me so sorry Caesar! Fox and all their films can go straight to h3ll!

Real talk, I haven't seen a Fox superhero movie in years! If this is indeed true and they try and make another F4 movie, it will spread to their other movies. At this point, I have no interest in seeing anything X-men related........unless it's on tv. Not paying a dime for it.

I haven't seen Apocalypse, I haven't seen Deadpool and I haven't seen Logan.

And I don't give a s*** about any of them. I won't watch them for free.

I like Planet of the Apes, but if this BS persists, I'll probably just say f*** it on that one.

My need to see Fox films is about the same as my need to drink Clamato. It's not a big sacrifice.

Well if Fox do try to push this any good will extended by Marvel for the TV deal expansion is p#ssed away utterly.

Next time Fox goes cap in hand asking for a solid from Marvel they will likely put a hardened turd in thier hands...

The idea that Marvel may have done a "solid" for FOX in the hopes that Rupert Murdoch and his boys may do them a favor down the road doesn't make any sense to me. And the money from partnering on the TV shows doesn't remotely compare to what Feige and company could have generated from films based on the characters in the FF family.

If we see Galactus and the Surfer in the Infinity War post credit scene it may make a little sense. But with the information we have right now the TV deal looks like an Avi Arad style disaster.

This is unequivocally one of the stupidest things I have ever heard.

"Hey, none of these Fantastic Four movies have worked out. Let's make ANOTHER one about their kids!"

Anybody that is talking about boycotting other films to spite Fox is lying up the @$$.
They're not making another F4 film, but y'all still going to see Caesar or Deadpool (or don't but they'll still make money without you).

Tell that to the 200 employees that Fox had to lay off April 2016.

Tell that to the shareholders who saw Fox shares drop 10 points due to that 3rd terrible quarter in 2015 that included Fann4stic. And still hasn't recovered.

Tell that to chairman and chief Jim Gianopulos stepping down early in 2016 due to poor box office performance.

People like you crack me up. Don't tell me how I spend my time or money. I don't support FOX film's. And they're not doing as great as you'd like to state they are.

I haven't seen Apocalypse, I haven't seen Deadpool and I haven't seen Logan.

Congratulations

Disney laid off some employees that worked close to 20 years in 2017. So what?

Next time Fox goes cap in hand asking for a solid from Marvel they will likely put a hardened turd in thier hands...

These developments aren't a surprise to Marvel. Feige already said he doesn't think FF is coming back. Only you guys thought he was lieing.

Keep Hope Alive!

You're wrong. There will be all the defenders returning in full force who will lap up every bit of information they can get,

No most of us want FF to go to Disney because we're tired of the Disney princes trolling every FOX X-MEN announcement because the precious FF Rogue Gallery isn't at Disney to get beat up by the Avengers.

Most of us just want X-MEN to have animation & video games again, that got a lot of the fan base involved in the X-Universe in the first place.

We've had to deal with horrible X-MEN comics since the 00's because of this FoX/Marvel beef.

I have noticed a few seldom seen faces stopping by, some to gloat, every time there is even a hint Fox might try again with the FF.

I think this thread could use a "This is fine" meme. Seems appropriate in light of this horrific rumor.

Can't argue with that. If this plays out at best Marvel were hopelessly naive (granted the TV deal assuming Fox were done with the FF) and got played. At worst they knew this was coming and rolled over on TV rights anyway without hard balling anything beyond cash out of the deal.
