The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 10

WB doesn't lease any of the DC characters. They can spit shine their product off as many times as they want. Same for Marvel Studios. When Fox screws the pooch 3 times with one property the outcry to return to the parent company grows ever more. Especially when they are obligated to make more to keep rights.

I'm just a guy that likes the Fantastic Four and their adventures. Just read a few of their stories and liked them. I was unimpressed by Fox's 2005 and 2007 films. However, the 2015 film angered me because it was nothing more than a rights grab movie with how cheap-looking and boring it was. Its really understandable why another Fantastic Four reboot by Fox would cause ire among the fans considering that. Personally, I don't want another reboot by Fox. Just a decent Fantastic Four movie and the MCU is the highest chance by that.

I've read some of the Hickman stuff and that Fantastic Four Season One book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and I went and got some of the the issues of Lee and Kirby's run digitally just not too long ago.

I don't think anyone is arguing otherwise. I certainly wasn't. I just find the whole boycotting situation absurd. When you boycott Logan, or Legion or any other good Fox movie/tv show over some bad Fantastic Four movies do any of you honestly think Fox is going to read between the lines and give up the rights to FF? No, they are going to assume no one cares about those properties and not take risks in the future.

Yeah, I also have a compilation book of the first couple of issues of the Fantastic Four. Hickman's stuff is pretty neat. For all its flaws, I did like Mark Waid's stories as well. I really need to check up on the John Byrne era of the FF.

If a local shop-owner was a rude, insulting, idiot who you hated, would you still shop at his store as long as he offered some good products at some good prices? I wouldn't.

I'm not trying to send any message to Fox. My lack of patronage hasn't affected them one bit.

But I'm still not going to go to their films.

If I haven't said it often enough or loudly enough or clearly enough... F*** Fox!!

I get what u saying. I dont do the boycott thing with the other films. Saw Deadpool and I liked it. But I have no intention of seeing another Fox FF film because I believe their intention is not sincere at all. And it is a travesty to the brand for them to do this. There is no reason in this world that would make me think Fox will invest the resources at this stage for a new one.

Yeah, it's not going to change anything as far as Fantastic Four is concerned.

WB had Batman and Robin, Steel, Green Lantern, Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad. So yes, I find your statement on turning your back on a studio for lack of quality "silly" when the previous paragraph mentions that you gave both Wonder Woman and the CW-verse a chance.

Conversely, you could have simply said you don't care for Fox's take on the X-Men universe but I'm sure there are a lot of people that would disagree with your assessment that Fox is notorious for their lack of quality. Inconsistent sure, but lack of quality is pretty much a case by case basis which is just as true for WB, the Netflix-verse, and to a lesser extant the MCU. They all have the fair share of duds.

You forgot to mentions Halle Berry Catwoman

Marvel Fox had Elektra lol

Willie, you should at least watch Deadpool on Netflix lol. I appreciate and gree with your analogy, I see where you are coming from. However they aren't all bad, just like all waiters and waitresses aren't it's just Kinberg.

The day a deal is annonced, I'll start to get over it, but as long as Fox is still talking about abusing the FF more, I just can't deal with it.

I don't think Deadpool is on Netflix in this region.

I'll still watch Fox's other comic book films. I'm actually extremely intrigued by New Mutants and thoroughly enjoyed Logan, but I think people have the right to spend their money how they see fit. If someone wants to boycott all Fox Marvel films, then they can.

Other then Deadpool or the upcoming X-Force, I could really care less about Fox. The X-Men feel played-out and tired, basically second rate has beens compared to other franchises at this point. New Mutants I'm unsure of, but hopeful.

FF at Marvel would become legitimate immediately.

Agreed, though I don't have much confidence in Deadpool, sadly.

That's all on the WB who actually owns DC so it's up to them to do their characters justice. FYI, I enjoyed MOS, BvS was meh and I really didn't care for SS, so if WW didn't get positive reviews and word of mouth I would've skipped it. The same goes for Justice League. But it's not like I can boycott WB till the rights revert somewhere so the circumstances with the DCEU are different.

X-men and F4 on the other hand can be perfected if they are reverted back to Marvel Studios which Marvel has proven countless times, Homecoming being the most recent evidence FOR ME.

Whether you wish to ignore key examples why the number of people against Fox making Marvel movies continues to grow is on you. I'm not here to tell you how to spend your time and money. This is the 10th part of this thread going on 11 pretty soon and my presence here is to observe, learn and contribute with those who agree and support this threads purpose. BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY! :sly:

Bingo!

This should go without saying but I'm guessing the opposition is hoping we're too slow or clueless to realize this.

.....Or maybe they just don't realize it.

What if Marvel got the FF back and they put Scott Buck to work on it straight away in order to work his magic? Better than Trank's version or not?

Huh, tough call. I mean, Iron Fist was bad, really bad, but at least most of the characters were still recognizable. OTOH, Inhumans looks like complete trash.

I suspect it'd be about as bad, mostly because its hard to get worse than the Trank movie without deliberate effort. . . and deliberate effort would probably produce something better from comedic value if nothing else.

Exactly!!!!

It's like F4 fans = Elaine from Seinfeld vs Fox = The Soup Nazi saying: "No MCU F4 for you!"

But despite some naysayers trying to discourage us, our lack of patronage for 4stic does stand out which has impacted Fox-Marvel's future. Just ask those same naysayers about the 4stic sequel that was suppose to release this Summer or the shelved Gambit Solo that didn't release last year.

Sure they haven't reverted (yet) but they haven't been released either (thanks mostly to OUR lack of patronage)! So progress is being made!

Opposition? We are having a disagreement about comic book movies on a message board called SuperHeroHype, not negotiating a peace treaty. If boycotting a large corporate conglomerate because they won't play nice with another large corporate conglomerate makes it easier for you to sleep at night by all means. I don't think either of them care either way.

I'm very confident Deadpool 2 will be The Hangover Part 2 all over again.

I basically said the same thing! Especially with how they ousted the original Director while putting all their stock in Ryan Reynolds who had about 8 flops prior to Deadpool.

They're going to overdo the humor and profanity while the plot will be stupid and the villain will be forgettable.

They wont need to boycott. It'll trank regardless.

And there is nothing wrong with not throwing away your money on a bad movie and I don't think anyone was saying to do so. However, I'm starting to get the impression there are a few people in this thread that would provided there is a Marvel Studios logo at the beginning of the film.

I'd certainly give MS the benefit of the doubt at this point, but I hope for good films if I love the characters, regardless of the studio. Although I do have zero interest in a FF film at Fox. The reviews will have to be through the roof for me to throw a nickel their way. I think a FF film is just destined for failure. It's too soon after the recent abomination and it's so obviously a rights grab. People are just cynical of the MO. Understandable.

Have fun with that impression...

As for me, I'm hopeful for Thor 3 but it's not an automatic ticket purchase. Now BP and Infinity Wars are.... Justice League, Aqua-Man and Ant-Man2 are in the same boat as Ragnorok while New Mutants, DP2, Dark Phoenix and Venom won't receive a dime from me. So there's only 2 definite's and 4 maybes.

So "Studio Logo's" don't make my support a guarantee.
