Then again, company scale is something that a lot of analysts have been openly talking about with Fox for some time now when compared to its biggest competitors.

Yeah, and this whole conversation puts an exclamation point on that and gets people (who might not have thought of it before) wondering if Fox really is in a good position.

If Disney buys out FOX I wonder if Sony will be next?
Not only Sony, but Paramount as well. Likely not by Disney, but the likes of companies like Verizon, etc. Distributors are out buying up the content producers. We've seen this already with Comcast buying NBC/Universal, and AT&T with Time Warner.

New market factors are going to force the producers to consolidate. The days of the "Big 6" of Hollywood are changing drastically due to new technologies like streaming.

Let us place our hopes in the fact that if Fiege gets the Xmen and FF rights, Disney knows that the buckets of cash now might explode to... Supertankers of cash.

Gods know, I'd go see an FF three or four times in the theatre if it is MCU set, just to make sure I understand how they are being woven in, and to see the Ever-lovin' Blue-eyed Thing rendered correctly, not to mention a strong Sue Storm character.

Same. An X-men movie with a real Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey/Phoenix, Rogue, Colossus actually done right? That could kick the entire CB genre into an even higher gear from where it already is. I love the idea of a X-men team being done like Marvel did with Guardians of the Galaxy where every member gets to shine. Marvel even made a raccoon and a tree into popular characters.

Fox was the least successful studio of the big four making CBMs even though they had probably the most popular CB property post 1980. That property going to a studio who knows how to use it could be epic.

Great point. It's not like Fox was making R rated X-men movies so Marvel do those without any sweat. Anything like the Deadpool or Logan movies could just be under the Fox banner.

i kinda wish they go with a classic comics approach with x-men in mcu.

first movie with xavier, cyclops, iceman, beast, jean, angel battle with magneto

sequel introduce new team of storm, nightcrawler, colossus, wolverine, sunfire and kitty. it can be a movie about rescuing the original team.

Most definitely go with the classic team first, and avoid it being overly Wolverine centric.

HOWEVER. Fantastic Four has to come first. :)

Not a fan of that idea since it either means an all-white X-Men team with only one or two female members (if Polaris is included) or being unfaithful to the source material. I'd prefer if the X-Men kept Storm and Psylocke and hopefully also Bishop.

I'd do it like this. The current X-Men series continues in its own universe with Lauren Schuler Donner still producing but having to work under Kavin Feige with X-Men as its own brand so it doesn't cannibalize MCU release dates and unnecessarily prolong phases and make the wait times between sequels as long as it's been for Iron Man. Fantastic Four would join the MCU proper however and start off with an origin that's a combination of the 616 and Ultimate origins. The FF face off against Annihilus in a film that's described as, "Apollo 13 meets Alien" where if Annihilus leaves the space station and reaches Earth, all life on Earth will die. Reed finds a way to send him back to the Negative Zone without killing him and after the credits, he's found a way to open a wormhole and head back into our universe and appears in Skrull Space with a young Skrull boy pointing at the hole on the sky before we see the shot pan to Annihilus and his newfound ally Blastaar to set up Guardians 4. Doctor Doom would be the villain in Black Panther 2 and Kang would be the villain in Avengers 5.

X-Force would be assembled from across time and space with Cable, Deadpool, Domino, Psylocke, X-23, Rictor and a miraculously alive Archangel.

X-Men (with new members Gambit and Bishop) and X-Force would team up in a Messiah Complex crossover to defeat Mister Sinister while also fighting each other with Cyclops and Cable trying to save Hope Summers while Bishop and Wolverine try to kill her to stop the events of Logan from occurring. Gambit is torn between aiding the X-Men and Mister Sinister but eventually joins the side of good and saves everyone while Cyclops defeats Sinister once and for all (although the puddle of goop that he's reduced to starts moving after the credits).

House of M: The ultimate two-part Marvel film which would close off Phase 4 with a massive event. Doctor Doom tempts the Scarlet Witch with a world in which her brother is still alive. Wanda finds it too hard to resist and destroys both realities while merging then into one. We are now in a world where Magneto rules Earth, the Avengers are fighting to liberate the world from him despite Magneto taking over to prevent the humans from building Sentinels. Both sides have a point about the other supporting tyranny and the Fantastic Four are the only ones who realize that they're in an alternate universe since they were in the Negative Zone when universes merged. Doctor Doom eventually dethrones Magneto, forcing Reed to fight him and get reality restored by finding Wanda... who restores a reality where the Green Goblin is now the director of SHIELD.

Enter Phase 5: Dark Reign

I'd go with something close to the All New, All Different relaunch roster, with the original Lee/Kirby team being a small secret teenage mutant task force that disbanded a decade prior. The new X-Men get reformed as the existence of mutants becomes public and it grows into a big thing. Magneto does something that kills a lot of people, creating anti-mutant hysteria for the media and politicians to run with (so that way mutant hatred in a shared Marvel universe becomes believable).

And the first post-House of M X-Men movie is The Brood Saga which would be a team-up with Captain Marvel. Same cast we have now but expanded with Sophia Lillis as Shadowcat, Hunter Page-Lochard as Bishop, Bella Thorne as Rogue and Zac Efron as Iceman. Lani Minella as the Brood Queen.

Not bad. I like it.

For anyone who hasn't read it, the 1994 Andrew Kevin Walker X-men script is awesome. Very comicbooky and feels like you're getting more rich Versions of the xmen. With some tweaks it'd make an amazing reboot script. Best thing is it's not completely wolverine centric.

One factor in the future relationship with Netflix would be Disney's plans for their streaming service worldwide, if they plan do a worldwide rollout or if they will stick with just the US to start. Disney are current partners in Hulu but it is only available in the US and Japan. Disney could make a deal for Netflix to have the first refusal on their content in regions not covered by the Disney service, it would mean Disney's content was getting to a wider audience and Netflix would still have plenty of new things to stream.

For example Star Trek Discovery is a CBS All Access in the US, Bell Media have it in Canada, and Netflix have it everywhere else.

I thought I'd never see the day I'd see an X-men movie in theaters again but if Marvel gets the rights back, I would have no choice. I can see Marvel doing Wolverine vs. Omega Red, done right. Also Wolverine vs Hulk or Spiderman would be amazing to see on film. Hugh Jackmon did say he'd come back to play Wolvie if he's in the MCU. :woot: Kind of kidding but if only this was talked about 5 years ago instead of now.

I'm not sure if I'd even say I've ever seen an X-Men film. That crap Fox has been giving us never felt like the X-Men to me. The X-Men have some amazing powers, and we should see them using them, but we get very little from Fox. Except for a few seconds in DOFP, we haven't seen Ice-Man soaring on ramps of ice. We haven't seen Beast doing amazing acrobatics, except for the tease in the Danger Room we haven't seen anything close to real Sentinels.

The X-Men done right would be an amazing visual extravaganza, but Fox is too cheap and unimaginative to give us anything close to the real X-Men.

Prior to Homecoming, Sony was doing a decent job with Spider-Man. They were probably somewhere around 80% of where they should have been, but we saw with homecoming how much better it could be when Marvel did it just a little more right.

X-Men has WAY more room for improvement than Spider-Man. They're maybe at 30% of where they should be.

I do love the X-Men movies. But I’d love to see a movie that’s closer to X-Men Evolution or TAS

I. Want. Costumes.

Enough with the leather.

Give me Colossus with his kinky boots.
I'm not even joking.

I don't know if Marvel will ever find an actor as perfectly cast for Professor X as Patrick Stewart.

Agreed about the costumes. For me it would be Wolverine and Gambit I'd most want to see adapted into the mcu.

Though if they do get the FF and the X-men it would be interesting to see how they're introduced and have it make sense to the established mcu canon.

Also can Fox actually sell these properties to anyone and not just back to Marvel? I don't know what the original deals were exactly, but weren't they only temporary on condition they kept making movies?

I agree on principle...

But the casting in Marvel films has been close to perfect, so I wouldn't write them off just yet.

Unfortunately, I don't have anything real solid to go on, but my general belief is they can't sell them (if it were possible, I suspect someone would have made a serious offer for FF by now), but if the entire studio is sold, I assume the studio would retain the license under the new ownership.

No, they can't sell the licence/rights for FF or X-Men on. At least not without Marvel agreeing to that which ain't gonna happen now (When Constantin traded thier hold on the FF in the 90's to Fox it was with Marvel's consent).

What in theory could happen is another corporation would inherit those deals if they bought the 20th Century Fox studio as a whole.

Well, I wouldn't call most of the Spider-Man Homecoming casting even close to perfect. I feel that Marvel would more likely go that route with X-Men than even try to compete with what has already been done twice at Fox.

And they might do something similar with Fantastic Four. Tim Story's version could still end up the closest we get to the comics. Or even Roger Corman's.

What Dark Raven said

Gimme Alice Eve as Sue though and I'll be happy

I've been pondering Bryan Cranston in the role. Demeanor wise, I think he can pull off Professor X wonderfully.
