TW still held shares of the parent name spinoff. Like they did in AOL, before it spiralled into oblivion in its spinoff. Now, what other part, besides the old Turner unit, would they need to shed for WB to go under the ATT umbrella? And the same for Fox, what do they have to shed to some conservative coalition to guarantee their sale?

The disagreement with the DOJ mainly centers on AT&T having 2x cable providers and then having Turner Broadcasting. One of their remedies was for AT&T to spin off or sell DirectTV otherwise they'd be required to divest Turner Broadcasting post merger. That was the main item brought up by the DOJ. Otherwise they'd probably require commitments that generally are made, such as ensuring that they content remain on competitors platforms at reasonable rates, etc.


The same kind of remedies could apply to Fox as well. Hence a consortium of buyers for content. One way or another, the industry is going to consolidate down its big players. Spreading out content to 1-2 or more buyers would alleviate concerns the DOJ would likely have about that. Spreading content would encourage more competition.

Which is why I watch him. His face when Mjolnir broke in the teaser was priceless. So was mine when I realized what song was playing, at long last I bet (no camera, so no proof of it, thankfully).

He speculates, just like we are doing here, and sometimes, just like mainstream media, he runs with a rumor or a bit of early breaking, but unconfirmed news. How often do newspapers, tv stations, and the news outlets on cable have to do retractions or corrections to information during the breaking news rush? Heck, I've seen obituaries have to be corrected in papers. Things get jumbled, and deadlines or the "gotta be first with the news" runs out the door.

Now, that said, I will say that Marvel would be wise to announce the FF as fast as possible, just to get those of us waiting for the day we get to file a "motion to close the thread" post here, or second it, behind them. And he wants them back as much as us.

Yeah sometimes I have to wonder exactly what goes through his head when he makes his videos.

When AT&T and Time Warner first announced their deal, he was going on and on about how AT&T were going to come in and double down with Zack Snyder, etc. etc. He does make some real head scratchers sometimes.

With the news holding no more tidbits on negotiations, we have to assume they might be going on again, way back in some dark corner few dare peer in, say like a golf resort.

No, not a dig at the POTUS. Just too many deals are done on them, besides, it would be a Marvel thing, given Thunderbolt's statement about the heart attack (I still see Hawkeye, with a few less savory friends, sitting just outside that golf course, waiting until the stated hole to start taking out Ross's tee-offs with arrows, a shotgun, and some other toys, making him see red, even on his skin) that is where I could see a deal being cut.

Our hopes need fuel to burn. C'mon, Fox, Diz, spring a leak, will ya?

No he said there are 20 movies on the docket. That doesn't mean all 20 will be in the next phase.

Breaking that out, our "Cosmic Interlude" until we get a Phase 4 (I think they wait for the FF to do a Phase 4) will be strange indeed.

Figure 3 movies a year, that is over 6 years, but if Fox rolls into them, they could add one or two a year that way without crowding, still be 4-5 years long, about half again a normal phase to this point.

We should think this through, phase 1-3 was a 22 movie cycle. What the heck is the projected points that our First Family could return? I still say 2022 for the 60th anniversary of the FF.

Figure you have a New Avengers trilogy in there, GotG3/maybe the RR/G spinoff, DS2/3, CM2/3, BP2/3, that eats a chunk of it. 10-11, leaves 9 for new or returning franchises. Not to mention AMatW3... leaves 8. IF we get a tril for the FF (dubious). But may not need a CM2/3, she could be the teamup for the FF, and we have two more SM's to go too.
If Xmen come home, that is a bigger load for the next Cycle, which is the larger arc that covers Phases (plural intended).

I hope this is true. I'd like them to alter Avengers 4 to include the FF too or set them up.

It seems similar to that Christmas when there was the Marvel/Sony deal for Spider-Man.

Depends upon what level of deal is done. The mouse might just want those four IP sets we all have mentioned, and avoid the issues of a merger. That might go faster, unless Murdock wants a share of the Mouse to Foxize ABC's News division.

Which would be horrid, with so many other sources going hard right lately. I cannot stand the left or right, and prefer the center.

I hope the Mouse just goes for the fast rights deal on IP's first.
