The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - Part 13

How about Ioan Gruffudd as Professor X? Don't judge him by his work in FF. He has been far more like Reed Richards in everything else he's been in. But he couldn't play that role again in the MCU. Give him one he could play like Charles Xavier.

Why not? And James McAvoy started off with hair but eventually went with the bald look.

I don't think anyone will rock the look as well as Patrick Stewart though. He had a gift for it.

Patrick just looked the part. Top to bottom. Glad we had him (and Ian and Hugh and the rest) for as long as we did.

Though being bald isn't for everyone. That's why I ask. Some people just look goofy.

That actually might be a good choice. Another option is Matthew Macfadyen. He's got a great stage-presence.

But Patrick Stewart is tough to replace. I think McAvoy is a great actor, but he never felt right to me as Prof. X.

I think Xavier needs a fairly slim looking face. This guy looks a little pudgy in the face. I think Ioan Gruffudd could give us a Professor X more similar to the X-Men cartoon, especially as he can sometimes have quite an intense, dark look.

Here is a pic of Ioan with a crew cut and shaven back and sides in Black Hawk Down.

That's probably as close as we'll get at the moment. But that was from 2001, before he even starred in Fantastic Four. He was much younger then. As he's gotten older he's matured like fine wine. He's more suitable now to be Reed Richards than he was in 2005.

Armie Hammer should be Cyclops

And Scott should have a major role if it happens. He deserves it.

Tin foil hat theory time:

FX just showed The Amazing Spider-Man and now is showing Fanfourstic. A deal is coming soon.

I would like for Cyclops not to be taller than Thor, so no to Armie Hammer.

I was hoping for Hammer as someone like Mar-Vell instead of Jude Law.

Whoever it is I just want Cyclops to be well written and given a more prominent role. I also don't want to see them screw up the Jean/Cyclops relationship again.

He needs to be portrayed as a leader, and not the butt of jokes to elevate Wolverine.

Wolverine, Charles and Magneto will be the most difficult to recast. I personally hope they go for relatively unknown actors, so that they can be lost in the roles.

Alice Eve as Sue Storm is my dream casting.

What I want for the FF personalities:

Reed - needs to be a confident leader and not the stereotypical nerd Hollywood loves to use. He's the smarter than you and knows it.

Sue - "the power behind the throne". Show us why she's the most powerful member and second in command (that often seems like a better leader than Reed). All without losing her kindness as the last interpretation was too cold and heartless.

Johnny - Fox got close with their first interpretation of him. I would like Marvel do similar but also give him more depth.

Ben - The most monstrous looking, yet the most human is the best way I can describe him. They need to balance his sadness, temper, and big heart so that he is complex and likable.

It is also important to get their dynamic right. The past films made it too sitcom-like.

If they get the FF back, I hope they don't go the period piece route. They can work well in the modern setting and a period piece is saying that they don't work in the present.

I really hope the deal goes through, or Marvel at least get the FF back.

No. Storm is a Dark Skin woman just because FOX has her played by Light Skin actresses doesn't mean Feige will make that mistake.

And it's better for the actress to not have to be harassed online like Shipp was because she's half white.

Have you ever even read one of these comics? It has always been pretty well known that Storm has a very unique and racially ambiguous look to her. This begins from her initially not being a weather minipulating character but a feral one. That's why she has large cat eyes in earlier comics. She was also shown from conception to have mocha skin tone more akin to Tyra Banks than say Lupita Nyongo (sp?) Not to mention her blue eyes and white/platinum hair color.

Exhibit A.

Exhibit B.
Even Kitty Pryde brings up how unique her physical appearance is the first time she meets her in this same book (X-Men 129)

Also in the late eighties the X-Men are captured and they examine storm and ar in marvel at how though she is black she has features of virtually every culture.
And her most popular versions are all light skin black women from not only the movies but TAS.

IS this DARK skin to you?

Do your research homie.

I love the random idiots who think Fox knows Marvel's characters better then they do. They've diminished the popularity of the X-Men over the years and made them super low rent. Hilarious. :whatever:

When Marvel gets the rights they will do the opposite of everything Fox did. That means a darker skinned Storm. There's nothing wrong with portraying a black woman in a good role whose not light. As soon as you see Bassett in BP trailer everyone mentioned she looks like Storm or should've been her.

I can't believe you are finding any little thing to debate me on because you're salty Fox might sell. Your Fox-Men movies will always be available to warch. You're on ignore now so reply if you want idc

:funny:

I'm sorry, but it's funny that people will argue about hypothetical piled on top of hypothetical piled on top of hypothetical... and then make it about the tiniest detail.

I was fine with Johnny going from blonde-haired, blue-eyed white guy to black guy. Is the shade of Storm's skin really a critical aspect of her character? The shade of people's skin changes dramatically just depending on how long they've been in the sun, right?

I love the random idiots who believe Disney is going to make X-Men a priority and will focus on all the character's in their own spin off films. Especially Storm! :lmao:

You can't have a healthy discussion without ignoring someone?
How adult of you. I was genuinely trying to educate you on a topic as it seemed you might not have known.

I've never thought or said Storm couldn't be portrayed by a variety of different skin toned woman you are the one relegating it to only "dark skinned" women.

Though I do agree ther needs to be diffrences between the two iterations if we must have a reboot under Disney.

Your just "salty" that I am right.

Exactly my point she should not "have to" be anything in regards to color. There have been lighter and darker shades portrayed in the comics. Someone was trying to say that it is canon that she looks this way (dark skinned). I am merely stating there is canonical proof otherwise so it shouldn't be a requirement for the role is all.

Solo films or not, the X-Men will be a priority in the MCU as opposed to Wolverine alone. Fox have made the X-Men pretty much irrelevant without him. Case in point his R-rated solo film making nearly as much as DoFP and more then the other X-films.

And I'm not random.

Willie...........not to be nitpicking but I can kind of see Leo's point. You can find just as many images of Storm being "dark" as there is as many of her being exotic. Again, I have no dog in this fight, could careless if she's light or dark but I kind of agree with Leo.

Besides.....jaymes said Thanos didn't look good in the IW trailer. Dude can't tell me that the sky is blue from this point. :cwink:

What makes you think that Disney wont focus on Wolverine? It stands to reason they would. I bet money any team up Avengers film first and foremost every time. They also would not start with the original team like some are suggesting but with one that includes Logan 100%. In fact he could end up being like he used to be in the comics over saturated as hell.

And I'm not random either but what does that have to do with anything?
