The guy does OK when he is involved in non-CBM movies. He was one of the producers on "The Martian", which was a great movie. Granted that was probably due more to Ridley Scott than anyone else.Simon Kinberg can go piss up a rope.

I think Kinberg could piss down a rope and it would still end up in his face.
In any case, I think Fox is past the point of no return. They HAVE to sell now, and if Disney is the only serious buyer, they can hold out for the price they want.
Quite the opposite, IMO. The moment Sony senses any form of independent success, they'll yank Spider-Man and do their own thing. The upper management of that company truly are that clueless and arrogant that they would that. They certainly have given no indication whatsoever that they wouldn't and have wised up to what they should be doing or where their future lies.
Go back and look at the interview that Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal gave together. Look at how uncomfortable Kevin looked when she started talking about Marvel+Sony coming together might not happen again. That woman hasn't learned a single lesson in her failures.

But yeah, otherwise it's up the rope he goes.t:

This is the positive that I'm taking from the Sony involvement.
I don't want them to have control of X-Men or FF, but this shows FOX is serious about the sale. And worse case scenario, Sony does end up with the rights, at least they're willing to work with Marvel...
Well, on a more positive note it shows that Fox is considering breaking up assets to sell to interested parties. This is the positive that I'm taking from the Sony involvement.

I thought Sony had financial problems not too long ago? Them buying Fox seems like a bit of a risk for them. Maybe they are interested in only some properties Fox own?
They are still in that boat. While they have recovered a bit, they are still very volatile. Fox is slightly larger than Sony (as a whole) in total market capitalization. Buying even a part of Fox would require significant funding, and I just don't see that happening.I thought Sony had financial problems not too long ago? Sony was in real danger of damaging the Spider-Man brand.
I do have to question why any entity aside from Marvel would want the Fantastic Four. The brand is box-office poison and the last film bombed. They would have to invest money to buy the film rights. Once that's done, they would have to invest more money into producing a film, which means directors, actors, sets, cameras, etc. And again, its not clear if the new film will make any money.
At least Marvel Studios can put the FF under its brand, which would help the reboot a lot. What can these other entities do with the Fantastic Four film rights?
