The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - Part 13

I really hope Disney make this deal happen. Apart from the X-Men, they would have Dazzler. She could carry a movie on her own. Marvel Studios would finally be able to do a musical version of it, and they could call on all of Disney's experience with that.

This is one genre they haven't done yet in the MCU. However, it could be huge. And they would finally be able to bring it full circle with a proper "Dazzler the Movie" which was what was planned decades ago in the late 70s.

Well if Disney get all of the Fox movie and TV section, then using Kang shouldn't be a problem at all. He would make a great Avengers villain.

He could even be an opportunity to have a Flashpoint or Days of Future Past-type semi reset
if they ever need to go that way and correct anything or if they want to bring anyone back from the dead.

Or here's an idea. If they wanted to use him in the form of Rama Tut, then they could do a time-travelling Fantastic Four movie which has the Four revisiting various points in previous Marvel movies.

They could be placed into the events of these movies, revisiting films such as Age of Ultron, the Avengers, Iron Man 1 etc, or even going before to the First Avenger or the Hank Pym era of Ant-Man.

That would be a way to have an FF-centric film but still feature guest stars from the rest of the MCU.

It could still even be done with Kang though, and that could be the way he is introduced to the Avengers as a villain too.

Spider-Man - 'Who are you?'
Wolverine - 'I'm Wolverine'
SM - 'Why are you here?'
Wolverine - 'I'm here to change the timeline of Days of Future Past, which I previously changed to change the timeline of The Last Stand'.
SM - 'Wow, sounds complicated'
Wolverine - 'You have no idea. Actually, seeing as your movie starts 2 years before the MCU even begins, I think you have a pretty good idea about messed up timelines '

aaaaaaa.... oh my god, i am at work, i wont get anything done

 That would be awesome
The best villain to use for the first MCU X-Men film would be Sinister, his interest in Mutant genetics would make him an easy source of exposition on the history of Mutants in the MCU.
 I like that

Sinister may also give Marvel Studios a chance to embrace the fantasy elements that FOX largely grounded, which could set their X-Men apart from the FOX X-Men right from the start.

I always knew that the X-Men and Fantastic Four would return home, but I never could have imagined it happening so soon. It still hasn't really sunk in yet. Feels surreal- like I'm in a dream. The most amazing dream.

That's a cool idea.

Maybe the FF are from the present or the future, but they end up getting stuck in the 60's for a while, becoming the MCU's first family.

Can you imagine a Sinister done right? Maybe that's why they are stopping the Gambit movie for right now...........probably for good. We haven't got any real representation of the X-men on film at all.

I don't think that Thor was ever a part of the FF rights deal. Why would he be, when he was a solo character who later became a founder of The Avengers?Kang is with the FF because of his convoluted origin as a time-traveling descendant of the Richards family.

I do wonder if anybody can own rights to "Thor" or a Hercules should they be in the public domain? Perhaps supporting characters who are not part of Norse mythology can be protected by Marvel.

I do know that mockbusters came out titled Thor when Disney Marvel releases a film unlike when the mockbuster American Battleship was forced to change its title to American Warships because of the Battleship game turned movie.

We need this image to celebrate the news.

BTW are we still anticipating the release of X-Men Dark Phoenix, or is that movie as good as dead now?

This is the same as the previous link, but it provides the complete transcript:

DAVID FABER: DISNEY AND FOX, STORY THAT OF COURSE I BROKE -- ITS BEEN A WHILE NOW, A FEW WEEKS BACK, THEY ARE GETTING CLOSER TO A DEAL, THE TWO COMPANIES ARE IN FACT CLOSING IN ON A DEAL THIS ACCORDING TO PEOPLE FAMILIAR WITH THE SITUATION. DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE GOING TO GET THERE HOWEVER IT DOES APPEAR MORE LIKELY THAN NOT THAT THEY WILL AND COULD ANNOUNCE A DEAL AS SOON AS NEXT WEEK.

JIM CRAMER: WHAT?

FABER: AGAIN ACCORDING TO PEOPLE WHO ARE FAMILIAR WITH THESE TALKS BETWEEN THE TWO COMPANIES THAT BY THE WAY, HAVE BEEN GOING ON MORE OR LESS EVER SINCE WE REPORTED THE STORY AT THE TIME YES WE SAID THEY WERE NOT AN ACTUAL CONVERSATION AT THAT MOMENT BUT THEY RESUME THOSE CONVERSATIONS VERY SOON AFTER AND HAVE BEEN ENGAGED IN THOSE CONVERSATIONS SINCE. THEY HAVE CREATED A GOOD DEAL OF MOMENTUM I WILL ADD THAT FOX DOES CONTINUE TO TALK TO OUR PARENT COMPANY, COMCAST BUT THE TALKS WITH DISNEY HAVE GONE FAR DEEPER AND FURTHER AND VERY WELL MAY RESULT IN A DEAL IN WHICH DISNEY WILL PURCHASE THE FOX STUDIO, THE FOX NETWORKS FOR EXAMPLE FX AND A&E AND THE FOX REGIONAL SPORTS NETWORKS, NOT FS 1, NOT FOX SPORTS BUT THE REGIONAL SPORTS NETWORKS THE STAR IN INDIA, THE OWNERSHIP OF SKY, THE 39% THEY OWN THE 30% THEY OWN OF HULU ENDEMOL SHINE GROUP AS WELL ALL OF THOSE WILL BE PURCHASED BY DISNEY IN THIS DEAL FOR DISNEY STOCK. HOW IS IT GOING TO WORK IF YOURE A FOX SHAREHOLDER, LET ME TELL YOU THIS IS WHAT AT LEAST THE WAY THEY ARE APPROACHING IT AT THIS POINT, YOU WOULD GET A SPINCO, ONE SHARE OF SPINCO, THAT WOULD BE WHAT IS REMAINING AT 21st CENTURY FOX, NAMELY FOX NEWS, FOX BUSINEES, FOX BROADCAST NETWORK AND FOX SPORTS NETWORK THOSE YOU WOULD GET A NEW SHARE OF, THAT COMPANY AND THEN YOU WOULD GET IN SOME PROPORTION TO YOUR HOLDINGS, SHARES OF DISNEY AS WELL. IN A FIXED RATIO AND THAT IS WHAT IS CONTIMPLATED AT THIS POINT THE DEAL GOING TO BE WORTH MORE THAN $60 BILLION THATS AN ENTERPRISE VALUE, REMEMBER THERES GOING TO BE ASSUMPTION OF DEBT ON THESE ASSETS AND THAT'S UNCLEAR EXACTLY HOW MUCH THEN THERE WILL BE AN EXCHANGE OF DISNEY EQUITY FOR SAID ASSETS THE REGIONAL SPORTS NETWORKS COULD BE WORTH AS MUCH AS $20 BILLION ON THEIR OWN DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU LOOK IN TERMS OF THE VALUE OF A&E AND FX MAYBE THOSE ARE 4, IT DEPENDS LOOKING AT DIFFERENT ANALYSTS, STAR, PROBABLY AT LEAST $10 BILLION, MAY BE ARGUING FOR MORE. STUDIO, WHO KNOWS 12.5, 13 TO 16 SOME SAY THE OWNERSHIP OF SKY AND OWNERSHIP OF HULU AND THAT ADDS UP TO A VERY LARGE NUMBER. WILL THEY GET THERE? WELL, LETS SEE. THERE WILL BE TAX LEAKAGE AND IT WILL BE A TAXABLE TRANSACTION BUT THE TWO SIDES ARE CLOSING IN ON A DEAL THAT COULD BE ANNOUNCED AS SOON AS NEXT WEEK, GUYS.

BTW are we still anticipating the release of X-Men Dark Phoenix, or is that movie as good as dead now?

If the deal goes through they wont scrap any current X-Men films in production. I could only see Dark Phoenix being canned if the suits see the work print and it is utterly awful and completely beyond repair.

My eyes!

And suddenly Phase 4 and beyond is WIIIIIIIDE the **** open.

If the deal goes through they wont scrap any current X-Men films in production. I could only see Dark Phoenix being canned if the suits see the work print and it is utterly awful and completely beyond repair.

Ashcan or direct to DVD. Kinberg sucks.

They are public domain, but Marvels interpretation of them is not. So if someone directly copied Marvels Thor or Hercules (costume design, unique supporting characters and stories created by marvel etc) they could be done for copyright infringement.

The get around is to do a 'parody' and claim 'fair use'. That's something the porn industry has been doing for some time now.
