The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - - Part 14

Been reading this sub-forum for what must be six or seven or eight years, posting only infrequently. I can’t believe we might have finally reached the promised land. I’m beside myself.

No one will deny the Gordon-Levitt is awesome but he’s a man boy. We need a man for Reed. Also, if I may be a bit hypocritical and a tiny buzzkill, can we tone down all the fancasting talk? I keep thinking the REAL news has come when the thread updates and it’s instead talk of the same 15 names thrown around for every single role ever. I know, I’m no fun. But my OCD demands that I read all of your words and the thread stays updated.

But bring ‘em home, Feige and Iger!!!

No matter how much genius you bring we are not talking about sports or the arts it is going to take you until your mid 30s minimum to build up a backstory that Dr. Richards is supposed to obtained. Just as Tony Stark was near retirement age for a soldier when he started avenging.

Exactly. Just because someone is a genius doesn't mean they'll have all the other skills to be a wise leader etc. Some things just require you to have lived a bit and gone through certain experiences, which takes years. You can't skip over life no matter how intelligent you are.

Marvel have been very saavy with their casting choices so far. All the leads for heroes and a lot of the villains have been nailed very well.

If they do get the chance I trust Feige & co to pick a good cast, whoever they might be.

LOL. Just reading through the thread, it is VERY clear that virtually ALL of us are assuming this is a done deal. It's hard not to get excited. Personally, I think everything is wrapped up and they are just getting odds and ends out of the way before announcing.

Mods/Admins,

Can we have a champagne popping smiley for Willie? Please?

I'm not even going to sweat the casting, I have 100% faith in the casting capabilities of MS it's one of their strongest traits.

I just need this deal to get announced ASAP, so Feige can go swing his large member into the fox studios and force them to change the Skrulls from dark phoenix to something else...or else  :D

I'm not disputing Garfield's acting ability. I'm saying he looks young. Obviously not young enough to be a teenager, as he never did. But he looks still young like a guy in his 20s. He still has a boyish face. And that's not what I want for Reed. I want Reed to have a more mature face just like Jon Hamm would've had in his 30s or William Shatner or many others.

Did you see Silence?

It looks like both companies know the rough price and general assets being transferred. It shouldn't be quite so complicated from here.

I have been wishing for the F4 to be involved to some extent in Avengers 4 for a long time, and even though I was ridiculed for posting the last Comic Convention countdown, I did not loose hope... It seems more likely now than ever!

Other than the 4, I hope they take a slow burn approach on the X-Men.
No big event right off the bat.
And for crying out loud no freaking Wolverine for at least 2 movies.
Let Cyke and Ororo and the rest shine without the smelly runt for once.

Wolverine is too popular to not appear for 2 films. But that said, I would not use him in movie 1 and introduce him in movie 2.

Marvel has made D and F list characters into a success. They don't need to rely on Mr Popularity to hold up an X-Men film.

Wolverine's appearance could be the after credits scene in the first film.

Yeah, but by that same token, when building the Avengers brand, they didn't do it with Wonder Man, Quasar, Hercules, etc. They did it with their biggest names. While the X-Men have plenty of films, they don't have an MCU brand at this point and its easier to build that brand when you're using your A-listers.

I'd prefer Wolverine not show up til the second mcu X-MEN Movie

I'd rather they had a Wolverine-less X-Men movie and then they do a separate Alpha Flight movie where Wolverine can debut.

Or have Wolverine show up in a completely different, non-X-Men film to battle the Incredible Hulk, just like he first did in the comics.

We would have to fix the Universal situation first :csad: At least for that to be a formal Hulk film.

I wanna know how long that contract goes for!!! :cmad:

Someone was saying in one of these threads yesterday to use other IPs to force Universal to give up the Hulk. I don't remember who it was. But I didn't understand it at the time. How do those other IPs affect Universal and their hold on the Hulk?

The other alternative is to have a "Wolverine and Hulk" movie, but don't necessarily call it that. It could be called anything, like "Chaos in Canada" or something. That way Hulk would be able to appear and it would almost be his own movie, but still going through the loophole, because it's a Wolverine movie.

And the common enemy can be Wendigo. Wolverine can be sent to hunt the Hulk but they end up fighting Wendigo in the very end.

Okay folks, just heard that Comcast wants some of that sweet Fox booty(as in treasure). My only question is how would the rights for marvel properties work? Would Disney get first dibs? Can the rights even be sold to someone else? This is important because that would mean that no matter who Fox sells to the Fantastic Four would be coming home.

All they'd probably have to do would be to put "Wolverine" in the title. Not sure they can use "Green Rage Monster".

Not exactly on thread, but did they explain why Hulk didn't turn into Banner more often in Ragnarok?

Hulk was "driving the car" so to speak. Seemed to have learned how to shut Banner out and keep control. Not just come and go.

Let's say hypothetical Universal is interested in IPs like the Predator or Alien Franchise. Now, Universal has no real use for the distribution rights of Hulk other than keep Disney from making those Hulk movies. But since they have interest in Alien or Predator, Disney can bargain. Universal would get the rights to those IPs (which Disney, being Disney has probably no real use) for which they can develop whole new movies in exchange for distribution rights of the Hulk.

Universal wins, because they have the IPs and can make lucrative franchises out of them. Disney wins, because they got rid of IPs that don't really fit their modus operandi in exchange for distribution rights of a character they use and may want to expand on. We win, because we're gettin new Alien movies, new Predator movies AND new Hulk movies.

The only ones losing are WB/DC, because they still didn't get rid of the DCFU
