True. The RSN's will be the bigger fish to fry. I have a feeling that they cut several deals, so if one part hits a snag, the rest can still fly. At least I HOPE they were that smart.

I'm pretty sure Disney has a team of highly-paid lawyers combing through every regulation to make sure they can make this 60 billion dollar deal smoothly.

Disney is likely to spin off Blue Sky and could also concede the FX channels and Endemol Shine in order to appease the DOJ. I also wouldn't be surprised if Disney sells its 50% stake in A&E Networks and/or its ownership interest in Vice.

One interesting part of the deal is the Murdochs holding onto FOX Network and FS1 while selling off FOX 21 Television and the RSNs. The former don't have as much value without the latter, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were sold as well after the Disney deal is finalised.

Sony might want Aliens and Predators to help kick start their Venom Cinematic Universe.

BTW, although it's not a Marvel property at all, is there any way that Marvel could use the Aliens franchise to tie in with the Brood and Captain Marvel?

There is no way that Disney are not going to keep AvP. Too much potential profit. The comics sell well for Dark Horse and just like Star Wars, will head to Marvel.

How about Matthew Goode for Reed? He's played geniuses before, he's a really good actor and he's 39.

He also doesn't look "boyish" either. At least in my opinion:

He wouldn't be too bad but I think 39 might be pushing it. If he were 39 when they were set to start filming, but they probably won't film til 2019 at the earliest.

Now that I think of it though, he could be right around the age range.

I'd guess 35-40 is how old the actor they cast for Reed will be

Yeah, BlueSky's movies come off like direct-to-video compared to Disney proper and Pixar. They really don't need them.

Matt Boomer is another good choice. He's only a year older than Goode and he'll be 42 when they shoot the movie which isn't TOO bad. But somebody like Jon Hamm or even Patrick Wilson will be too old in 2019.

Boomer also looks exactly like comic Reed:

I think Bomer and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are my favorites for Reed as of now.

Henry Cavill for reed Richards  trolololololololol Ben Affleck for Doctor Doom :D

He looks like 80% of Hollywood leading men. By a bizarre coincidence, so do most major Silver Age heroes. Maybe that's why Bomer's also been considered for Superman and GL (hell, maybe even Cap) at various points.

I mean I like Bomer a lot. I guess what I'm saying is that actors who look like Reed aren't hard to find. :whatever:

Does the fact that Kinberg was announced to direct Dark Phoenix on June 14th of this year portend to anyone else that this deal might have been in the works since then or earlier?

I'm lead to believe that Fox went with someone inexperienced knowing that, first, it wouldn't matter, since they knew the deal would happen anyway, and secondly, that they could strong-arm him into creating the movie how they see fit (I believe a similar situation happened with Trank and executives; correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm really eager to learn the full sequence of events that lead us here once this has all unfolded.

Kinberg wrote DOFP and Apocalypse. He also produced Deadpool and Logan. 3 out of four of those were massive successes and all four made money. That's why he's directing. He's not Alex Kurtzman, Michael Bay or Avi Arad who all work to destroy everything they're attached to. I can actually name projects Kinberg worked on which weren't actively horrible.

I know he's a lot older than what we are considering ideal, but a part of me would get a kick out of the idea of Jonny Lee Miller as Reed, just because that would be three Sherlock Holmes' to play Marvel heroes. :P

TBH, the member of the team I'm most interested in seeing Feige and Marvel tackle is Johnny. I never really found him all that likable or interesting. Hopefully, they can change that.

He could work. He'd be another British actor like Ioan Gruffudd. But they are good at giving off an intelligent vibe. Well, not all. But Goode does give off that intelligence.

He also seems like he should be in a British WWII drama.

I'd say he would work better than Bomer, because classic Reed always seemed more like a leading man from the 1950s or 60s rather than a leading man of today, and Goode has more of an old school feel.

Baffledleck could not pull the accents of Latveria...

Cavill would be better as doom, but is locked up by folks who need something more than we do. We got or are getting our wish to have the movie, who plays it, as long as they are good, does not require crushing the dreams of DCfanboys and gals any further by poaching.....

Wait, did Fishburne come to marvel, or did the Marvel go to Morpheus?

We will never learn the full sequence, as both sides will wish to never admit to waking up in bed with Deadpool....

Morpheus came to Marvel because he had an idea for a movie. Feige said: "Maybe. We'll look into it. Meanwhile, do you want to be a superhero?"
It wasn't poaching. It was Ike Turner jumping ship.

Then Cavill as Reed could be possible...
I want Simmons back, we need the best J. Jonah to break the news on the X-Men "Mutant Menace Returns! Spider-man to Blame! Lock up you women and kids, lest they get infected!"

And from the Man with the Plan, we need a big holiday gift....

I want him to stand by a mockup of the Fantasti-car, and just grin, and say "Yeah, we finally get to use it."

More signs that Disney’s acquisition talks with 21st Century Fox are picking up steam: Both companies have set teams of bankers on the case to work out the fine print.

Disney is working with a group that includes JP Morgan and Guggenheim Partners. Both entities have long relationships with Disney.

Fox has Goldman Sachs and Centerview Partners crunching its numbers. Centerview is said to be focused on financial details related to the Fox assets that would not be part of the Disney acquisition. Goldman Sachs and Centerview previously advised Fox on its unsolicited $80 billion bid in 2014 for Time Warner, among other deals.

It is possible that a deal could be struck before Christmas, according to a source close to the matter.

The WAaaiting is the Hardest Part! - Tom Petty was right about this for sure.

Figure Monday, now. I thought they had the money parts done, on the QT. But this means I was off on calling today, unless they had an answer and we get confirm before midnight west coast time.

I admit to being overly optimistic.

Willie... I'll put this one here, 'cause it points more and more towards it's been coming for a while and we missed it.
A4 releases on May 4. That A on the Holland reveal poster, lose the left leg? you got the four....

Pour yourself a drink, sit back, and we wait for the bankers to say "yeah, it adds up right, here's the checks."
