I think a lot of people are jumping the gun here. There is still the small matter of the buyout being rejected because it would represent a monopoly for Disney.

Disney is only buying assets of Fox, not the entire corporation. And I'm sure Disney is keenly aware of it before they do the purchase, so I don't think it will pose a problem. It's not the same issue with AT&T-Time Warner because that one is about telecommunication.

I think that some of this will depend on if once Disney acquires 20th Century Fox if they continue to use their label. If they do they could continue with titles that don't fit their Disney brand under the Fox label. However, it is quite possible Disney might dissolve the Fox label to focus on strengthening their own brand. If so, the deals I mentioned previously are a real possibility.

Surfer

I read that Disney might split into two

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/will-disney-eventually-split-two-post-fox-merger-1065902

I would hope “20th Century Pictures”, the original name, could be used instead. Then Disney could use that for other movies, from “R” or even just stuff that is not the “regular” type of stuff they would show.

I would like that. Then they could keep the iconic searchlight intro and fanfare. The only thing is that if that is used for 20th Century Pictures but they want to have the fanfare before Star Wars, then that will be confusing.

I'm getting sick of that *****e John Campea who just needs to admit he doesn't want X-Men and Fantastic Four in the MCU. Why am I even watching his videos anyway?! Guess Collider is better off without him.

What has he said now?

This looks like Campea in body paint and a bald head laughing at fans

See the resemblance?

Drax is pretty clueless about everything. And he can easily let himself go and allow muscle to turn into fat and get a toupee.

We need a Campea meme saying "Nothing goes over my head".

Maybe next Christmas it will be the distribution rights to Hulk and Namor from Universal or the full rights to all Spider-Man characters.

Undoubtedly they will go after those, along with full Marvel theme park rights, next. They will have a lot of leverage to get them. I reiterate that I'm surprised they haven't gone after full Indiana Jones distribution rights from Paramount though, Viacom is struggling right now.

I think they will keep the 20th Century name, or maybe rename it, but they will keep a label for R rated content.

It's not just Campea, though... the Collider guys don't seem too happy about it either. They keep saying that Fox is doing a great job with the X-Men, because what about Logan, Deadpool and maybe also New Mutants?

I'll reiterate what I said a few days ago... for some people, never seeing literal Marvel icons get their due on the big screen is not too high a price to pay in exchange for some R-rated content involving Deadpool or Wolverine.

The 20th Century Fox logo has a lot of history behind it ( I personally have a visceral reaction to it after seeing it in front of Star Wars and Alien as a kid). I think I would definitely keep it. But I would scrap X-Men and reboot in the MCU while keeping Deadpool as a Fox film. Then having the option to do things like Punisher as Fox films in the future would make a lot of sense.

The Mouse will almost certainly dump the "FOX" branding on the RSNs, film, and TV studios and that name will remain with Rupert and his properties. 20th or 21st Century films would work as the new name for the studio.

Have it like this

Back to the original 20th Century pictures logo.

Yep, though don't expect the "Fox" name to stay or the 20th Century fanfare playing in front of Star Wars ever again. The R rated label could also allow for the low budget, high risk, high reward suspense/horror genre. Warner is making a killing and being extremely profitable with those right now. Get Out was 2017's darling in the suspense genre. Even something like Don't Breathe made a **** ton of money.

Regarding Marvel, I would retcon Deadpool 1 in the MCU and make Deadpool 2 canon as well, maybe there's still time to shoot a post credit scene in Deadpool 2 and tease it.
Everything else, including Logan and Dark Phoenix, would be part of "Marvel Legacy", not canon to the story. Very similar to what Lucas did with Star Wars
If New Mutants is good, that could be canon too, but most likely, Marvel Legacy
Bring back "Marvel Knights" logo for R rated movies and whatnot, put them in front of Deadpool, Punisher, Moon Knight etc

Deadpool is a spin-off Character of a another X-MEN spin off book.

It boggles my mind how he's viewed more important than the actual X-MEN!!

Fortunately, they don't make the decisions over there. And giving up some R rated movie is a small price to pay to see X-Men & FF finally done right.

I agree that Disney will probably choose to do something similar to what you and others have suggested. However, my previous comment was aimed at saying Disney has options if they acquire Foxes content that doesn't fit with the Disney brand. And one option is to take what they want from Fox's catalog that fits with their brand and then to sell off to other Studio's the things that don't fit their brand in exchange for things that do or money. I am not saying this is the option Disney will choose merely that it is an option they could choose. I also think it is quite likely that Disney will not choose to do just one option or the other, but perhaps a combination of these two things. Meaning they create the 20th Century label and get a catalog of 1000's of R rated titles with it. Out of which there are maybe 20 titles that have strong enough IP's to create interest in remakes, reboots or sequels. They could decide on selling 5 of those titles to other Studios in exchange for other titles they want to have more. In the end this is the route I think Disney will most likely explore. It would provide an opportunity to make Marvel whole again, while allowing them to create content that has more adult themes. And I agree with another user that it could possibly provide Marvel with an opportunity to make movies on some of the Netflix Characters, as I feel the reason they stayed away from Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Punisher is because of how dark their content is. So, they could produce the darker content under the 20th Century label, but due to no concerns of law suits they can still have the universe be connected or even allow appearances in cross over content. It's Win Win.

Agreed on all the above.

The devil is in the details. Exactly how do you bring in a previously veteran publicly known X-Men team and mansion, judging by how Colossus was used, in a world that only knows Avengers and newly emerging Inhumans?

They can probably reboot the whole X-Men movies, and have Deadpool in the next movie saying "because of the guys in the suits I have to do this all over again" while approaching the X-Men :p

I don't think he's a *****e, I quite like Campea as a person from what I can tell. He seems like a passionate guy who's living his dream, props to him.

But as a movie pundit? Every time I start coming around to his point of view, he says things that just baffle me. He wants the X-men and the FF in a separate universe because the MCU is apparently already getting "crowded as it is". He straight up said that it's becoming something of a "mess".

Um.... what? The MCU is a mess?

It'd be one thing if he was talking about just adding the X-men and how that'd throw things for a loop. That's a huge cast of characters and a whole subgenre of superheroes to throw into the already giant MCU.

But the FF....? The MCU is too crowded for the FF, so they should go in a separate universe alongside the X-men?

I don't know what he's smoking but I'd like some because it's apparently quite strong.

This just reminds me of how badly butchered Drax has become in the MCU...
