Wouldn’t it be hilarious if Apple joins the bidding war totally out of the blue and threw their hat into the ring & outbid both Comcast and Disney for the Fox assets?

Then it’d be Apple that would be the spoiler not Comcast, lol.

That wouldn't be the worse thing given the close relationship between Disney and Apple. We'd probably get a full MCU regardless.

The July 10th vote has been delayed indefinitely.

July 11th it is!

May I ask what is the limit to how much Comcast could raise their bid? What’s the max amount? Can he raise his bid to over $100 billion cash(just thinking about that amount sends a shiver down my spine).

I would ask the same quesiton.

So if Brian Roberts did up his bid and plunge Comcast into debt, then would he sell off all the Fox assets afterwards to meet that debt? :o

If the DOJ are close to approving, then what would it take Comcast to sway things in their favour now and cause Fox to abandon a deal that is almost closed for something that isn't certain at all? And what happens if Fox did go with Comcast and then it wasn't approved by the DOJ?

Is Comcast not run with a board of directors and shareholders? How come no-one can vote Roberts out? It could've been like Norman Osborn being voted out of Oscorp like in Spider-Man.

I want a scenario where Brian shouts "You can't do this to me! You know how much I sacrificed??!!??"

any day other than the 13th.. that is a friday, and for some reason, I feel like we FF hopers might get rounded up in the dark of night by some evil force...

They will likely approach their realistic limit on cash soon, but they can also start offering stock.

I think the real answer is their bidding will be limited by the value of the property, not their ability to pay.

Roberts holds most of the voting stock, so any shares offered are going to be secondary to his (similar to Fox). Hence, the stock options from Disney being superior.

Yes, I mean we are talking huge amounts of money. If it keeps rising, at some point you could just buy something better instead.

At $41/share aren't Comcast looking at passing At&T Warner in debt levels?

I'm also curious about this

If you are talking just cash (and not cash + stock like DIS' offer) Roberts has enough power to realistically raise cash until a credit downgrade from banks. The consensus from experts is that Comcast could raise 85B+ before being downgraded.

Which means, if this latest reported offer will be in cash, they're already close to their limit. Counting the break-up fee, the reported offer would be in the ballpark of $78 billion.

Talking heads on one network were throwing around figures like >$100 billion in debt for the Fox deal alone, on top of Comcast's already sky-high existing debt. One has to wonder whether the creditors can ever realistically expect to be repaid such staggering sums.

Doesn't Fox have something like $15 billion in debt? If I remember that correctly and that's added to Comcast's bid, we're already getting close to $100 billion.

If Brian Roberts wants to spend inordinate amounts of money, why doesn't he just donate to third world countries?

I'm just excited at all the potential possibilities of world building movies and team ups. Not to mention... its going to be great to see how Marvel handles these new characters we have been oh so long been waiting for!

I heard from a CBM channel YouTuber that Disney has "outbid" Comcast for Fox. From what I'm reading on here it's not necessarily over but Disney has raised the ante. Am I getting it right?

"The Justice Department is set to approve the deal in as soon as two weeks, according to the report, which cited a person familiar with the matter."

I'm seeing a lot of sources pick this up, but I think the original is coming from one anonymous source, so I don't know how credible it is.

If true, I think it makes all the difference. It also could explain why Fox was so quick to accept Disney's offer. If they're really this close, they're just going to want to close the deal.

I think the real reason for the seeming snap acceptance is that the Dis bid gets the Murdochs another network (ABC) via their votes, while the Comcast locks them into their little world. They want more influence, and this silences or mutes one left voice for them.

In two weeks? What does that mean? Wasn't it said DOJ will approve it no early than summer 2019? Or am I gwtting stuff wrong?

If the Antitrust approval is done in 2 weeks and the whole deal is approved, then does that mean we could actually start seeing these characters in Phase 4 and not have to wait until next summer? Or am I just getting overly excited for nothing lol

This timeline would seem much quicker than anticipated, and the AT&T ruling would likely rule out a challenge, so yeah, this is looking pretty good.

But there's still the pesky business of closing the deal and Comcast still hasn't gone away.

And in terms of Phase 4, I think at this point there still may be an issue in terms of what's already ahead of them. They must have the next 3-4 years already planned out fairly specifically, and they can't just throw that schedule away. But if Fox won't be making films, that could open up some spots.

When it comes to FF, I'd rather they do it right than fast.
