^ Exactly what I was thinking. Fury can drop his pager at the end again and instead of the Captain Marvel logo popping it up, it's a number "4" and everyone loses their minds :funny:

And then next time he drops it, it’ll be an X. Dude just can’t keep hold of that damn pager. :woot:

It should be simple enough.
Even something basic, like dropping Reeds name in a conversation, would be enough you make us geek out and build up hype.
Sort of like what they did for Dr Strange in Winter Soldier

I wonder where good ol Alexei is now. I remember when he thought DD wouldn't come back. Good times.

Are you referring to Alexei Bellyacher, the bane of the Avengers forum? The guy who said Kevin Feige was the devil and was ruining Marvel Studios? It took forever for that thread-jacking troll to get banned and no one ever missed his toxic presence. Or was there another acidic Alexei on this site?

They should go crazy and attach 4 post credits scenes like GOTG Vol 2. There's a lot to hype up for the future

Late Aug-Sep is my guess right now. Here in the US all that is needed is the shareholder vote next Friday and a judge rubber stamping the sale of the RSN's.

Okay, assuming this is anywhere near correct -- that's a full 32 months from the currently vacant May, 2021 unnamed MCU movie slot.

Stay with me here! LOL

20 months from now GotG3 is coming out (May, 2020)*
It's expected to be big, epic and expensive with tons of CGI (obviously)

What Guardians has right now is -- a director, a (recurring) cast and a first draft script.

The logic follows that if MCU could hire a director, get a first draft script and hire the main cast in the next 12 months -- Fantastic Four would be in exactly the same timeframe for a 2021 release as GotG3 is right now.

And nobody is saying the 20 months is not enough time to get GotG3 from where it is now to the screen in 20 months.

I assume there are some good directors (either MCU vets or new ones) who would jump at the chance to direct it. And I would assume there are script writers in exactly the same situation.

Alright...ready, set, rain on my parade. :csad:

* I am assuming that GotG3 is in the May, 2020 slot.

It is easier to do a sequel than come up with designs and everything else from scratch. We’ll get everything soon enough. ;)

You are right about that of course, but would it be out of the question that they were doing some relatively inexpensive design work up till now?
Heck, I wouldn't even put it past them to have commissioned some story outline scripts from a few writers just in case. Just to get an idea of what's the best way to do the time period, origins (or lack of), general villains, etc.

Who knows what they have done in secret but they weren’t supposed to be doing anything while the merger was incomplete.

There was in effect a "tampering" rule that stated they couldn't do speculative research just in case?
What about a professional writer simply writing a script outline because he figured MCU would eventually get the rights?

Officially no-one at Marvel will be allowed to pen anything for live action for the FF or X-Men until the deal is done and all assets legally transferred. Not even a rough draft nor even a pitch at this stage would be legal if attempted 'on the books' so to speak.

Unofficially there's nothing to stop a writer preparing something on their own dime & time, but I doubt you'll find many Hollywood writers too willing to do that unless they were pretty damn sure they would get a pay day out of it.

Holy ****, this thing could close before Christmas/December?

I think BigBang's timeline is a little aggressive. I'm thinking October/November. I would be surprised if this doesn't close by Xmas.

Pending things:

The 27th:
- FOX shareholders approval
- Disney shareholders approval

Post 27th:
- Judge to sign off on the divestment of the RSNs as agreed by the DOJ and Disney.
- Regulatory approval from the EU, China, India, Australia, et.al.

That's it. We should get updates on the latter 2 possibly on August 7th.

Here's what I think we can expect:

1. Closing before end of the year.
2. Summer 2019 - long-range schedule released with FF and/or X-Men films in the 2022 - 2023 range.
3. Before the end of 2019 - at least one or more passing references to Latveria, Mutants, Reed Richards, Victor Von Doom, Negative Zone etc. … things that wouldn't have been allowed before the deal.
4. Before the end of 2020 - characters (such as Silver Surfer) start showing up in Marvel films.

November 2021... that Anniversary. Not saying we won't have a tease before then, but Fiege is big on Anniversaries.

They really aren’t gonna come up with a better Colossus, I would bring over some of the Deadpool characters along with Reynolds

He'd get snuffed out by Galactus immediately. But I'd accept him back in the role of Colossus in the MCU. The design of him is spot on. I don't know if Marvel can do a better job, unless they put him in red.

If they're not going to use it exactly, they should at least use the Deadpool Colossus as a template and reference.

It's a shame James Earl Jones is up there in age these days.

He has that voice for Galactus.
