The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 24

Last year it was being reported that a Kitty Pryde film was in development written by Brian Micheal Bendis.

Despite the pending Fox/Disney merger: Brian Micheal Bendis confirms that he's still in the process of writing the script for the Kitty Pryde film with Deadpool director Tim Miller involved.

Back when this was announced; the prospects of the Disney deal happening looked rather uncertain considering it wasn't too long after it was widely reported on that Comcast was planning to out bid the Mouse for the Fox assets(and they ultimately did) so this project had a much more healthier chance of happening since back then there did exist a very real possibility the deal could fall apart and the rights never revert back to Marvel. Fortunately, Comcast eventually lost the bidding war, and now the deal looks to be getting closer and closer to the finish line(there's been a few headaches with Brazil and Mexico so far but overall its still looking likely it'll close fairly soon) thus leaving pretty much any Fox project that hasn't already been shot in jeopardy of being cancelled once the Marvel rights Fox currently has the license to reverts back to Marvel, and they wipe the slate clean with the X-Men film franchise. Bendis is just a writer, not a producer so he isn't calling the shots or anything and it'd really be up to Feige once the rights return to Marvel on whether the movie happens or not.

So guys(and gals) may I ask: Would you want to see you Brian Micheal Bendis written Kitty Pryde survive the forthcoming merger and be repurposed for the MCU or do you think it's a project that should never happen?
Yes, I'd like to see it. But not as a movie, it can be repurposed for Disney+.

Definitely the latter.

I'd give it a read, because what harm is there in that? But he hasn't done enough film-writing for me to assume it's worth doing sight-unseen.

And it would likely have to be reworked at the very least to fit Feige's plan for the MCU.

But if we simplify the question to: "Could Kitty Pryde be an interesting character to start the introduction of mutants into the MCU?" Sure, with a good story, they could start with her.

I say go dark, start with the Morlocks, as the few mutants so far, hidden away, surviving in the dark, with some glimmer of hope in the end.

Legion to end at Season 3.

Hawley said that he’s always imagined Legion lasting for a total of three seasons but allow me to put on my tin-foiled hat for just a second and speculate Legion ending on its third season also has something to do with a certain merger with Fox and the Mouse that we’re all anticipating will close fairly soon.

Of course, that’s just my mere speculation and it hasn’t been confirmed one way or another. But I do wonder what will be the fate of The ‘Gifted’ post-Fox/Disney deal.

I wouldn't mind David being introduced into the MCU proper. This is fine by me

Investor call is tomorrow right? Hopefully Disney confirms we're they're at with approval If Legion is getting the axe it likely means the deal is going through.

I'm not hip on all the merger stuff. How do they determine what countries need to approve the deal?

Awesome news! Hoping we get a closing date during the investor call tomorrow and some other approvals coming soon.

"In this analysis, as did the authorities of other countries, the IFT is expected to study carefully the effects on the different segments of these markets, since it is known that in a particular way, there are well-founded concerns about the possible damage or risk to the competition in what corresponds to sports channels, where the resulting company would represent a high concentration."

What does this mean? It doesn't mean that Mexico can retract the approval, does it?

Looks like Disney is cleaning house!

So it's just Brazil now who are holding out for our heroes?

IFT is kind of like Mexico's FCC.

what other countries need to approval aside from Brazil?

I hate to be that guy but I'm still not feeling Larson in the role. Something about her voice is kind of... off to me.

Is it because she's american? A lot of my friends feel the same about american accents.
