Cool. Still a while away then.

I know I shouldn't be too worried, but the fact that the deal is still months away from receiving complete approval really irks me.

Not really anything to worry about now mate. The deals will all get done. It was different when we had to genuinely worry about Comcast who could easily have taken it all away.

Worried isn't what I would call it (I know I used the word "nervous" or something before), but the fact that I've been waiting for this since November 6th, 2017- actually, make that since I was born- and now it's almost finally here, just has me so anxious!

The thing is, it still won't be an end. Even after we get an official closing, we'll be waiting for an announcement of an actual movie. Then will they get the right director? Will they cast it properly? etc. etc.

But I guess the difference there is it will be more of an anxious anticipation of good things as opposed to concern about something terrible.

... though I have to admit, after all we've been through, I have a nagging fear FF will be the one stinker they'll make. :(

My only question is which MCU heroes could they pair him with to add to the Deadpool fckery? Off the grip I’d say Punisher, but I could also see RDJ cutting loose with Deadpool too.

That's absolutely the difference- for me, at least. And there isn't a doubt in my mind that once that day comes there will be good things ahead of us. I think that once we're past the point of concern, we're done being concerned.

Marvel knows how important getting the Fantastic Four and X-Men absolutely right is to us. Coupled with the fact that they've only gotten better and better over the years, the idea that Marvel is "due" for a bad movie (which is the gambler's fallacy- something you've no doubt heard of) is something that I can completely dismiss until I see otherwise. If- and I do mean if- that ever happens, I've always felt the writing will be clearly on the wall. I think we can look to the TV division for some examples.

But in any case, we have some exciting times ahead of us- and for that, I wait in "anxious anticipation".

I would actually argue that Marvel has already made a “bad” movie with Iron Man 2, Thor: The Dark World, and (debatably) Iron Man 3— these movies are still immensely better than all the worst Fox Marvel and Warner Bros DC comic book movies. If those three aforementioned movies are the closets they’ve ever come to making a movie that’s “bad” then I have never really nothing worry about. Ever since Feige was freed from the controlling hand of Perlmutter & the disbanding of the creative committee Marvel has really never been in better shape than now. Since we’ve gotten some of Marvel’s best stuff like Civil War, Thor Ragarok and Infinity War.

I don't think any of the above mentioned 3 movies are bad. I do like them the least in the MCU library, but I still find those movies to be good overall. But I place them firmly in the "good but flawed" catagory.

LSD being that candid about the effects of the merger really is the nail in the coffin for those out there who thought this wasn't going to be a full Marvel Studios/Disney led effort.

Like there were really people out there who thought Feige was going to be forced to collaborate with her and Kinberg. And don't even get me started on that whole F4 constantin films nonsense that has been spoon fed to us for years..... Lol.

It’s subjective of course, but for me I find those movies to be bad(not horrible though) but bad movies with some redeeming qualities. To each their own.

I don't agree with the films (I have Iron Man 2, Age of Ultron, and The Incredible Hulk as the bottom 3), but the general assessment. Even the worst Marvel films are still decent. No Fant4stics or X-Men Origins to be found.

An additional point is their worst movies have been sequels (personally, I don't think Iron Man 2 was that bad, but IM3 and Dark World both have sloppy, messy stories and I might include Avengers Age of Ultron as another disappointing sequel).

They seem to put a little more effort into getting their properties launched properly, and then maybe get a little lazy/complacent after that. So that bodes well for a good initial FF (and if we can get at least one good film, I'll be less concerned after that - all I want is one decent FF film before I die).

I find AoU to be very underrated. Every rewatch I have of that movie I find myself always liking it more. It's not Avengers or IW quality, but I still like it quite a bit. I'd probably put TIH as my 4th least favorite if I expanded it to a bottom 5.

But yeah, these movies are nowhere near the pure garbage of Fan4stic, XO:W, Elektra, Catwoman, etc.

Variety is reporting the Disney-Fox deal could potentially be completed by the end of this month!

"The deal with Disney still needs final regulatory approval. Fox said it expected that the final sign-off will come in the first half of 2019, but insiders say that the sale could close at the end of February."

This is just a rough projection than a specific date but this is a sign that we're very close to the finish line.

how many times have we seen headlines that this is done, or its going to be done in _______ amount of time?

Feels like we've been through it nonstop for the last year and a half lol.

I haven't counted, but I would guess at least half of the Fox films are worse than the worst a Marvel film. So it isn't just the very rare exception either. The only ones that I would say are better than the worst Marvel film are X2, First Class, DOFP, the two Deadpool movies, and the two Wolverine sequels. Daredevil DC if you count it, but not the theatrical version.

Exciting times!

The Dark World is definitely the worst MCU movie. I rolled my eyes several times watching this movie :funny:.

Hey guys, guess what! The Disney-Fox deal could potentially feasibly maybe perhaps possibly perchance hopefully likely might be done in February... or March... or April... or May... or June.

Do I get to call myself an insider now????

So Disney errr FOX renewed the Simpsons for 2 more seasons.

I'm eagerly anticipating news about The Gifted.

I can watch Age of Ultron fine enough and while I like Spader as Ultron it just bugs me he's just so... 'Whedony' at times. As are a lot of the quips. I also hated how they treated Strucker and Hydra as throw away characters.

Yea I thought Strucker was going to be a bigger villain. And seemed quite threatening in the winter soldier post credit scene but Whedon made him a joke as usual. It was clear at that point Whedon was tired.
