let's not forget the rumour of Kinberg ghost directing the latter half of the movie. If that's true all the talk of Dark Phoenix being trash is probably true

I doubt we FF fans would have liked Tranks film, but I do believe his film might have been more watchable while not being a proper FF film.

... and I’m willing to bet Trank’s Al Capone film will be better than Dark Pheonix.

Technically you are probably right. It would have been a boring and mediocre sci fi body horror movie with only a passing resemblance to the source material, instead of the raging dumpster fire it ended up being.

Still, my point was that a great deal of the responsibility for the ensuing disaster is on Trank. His ideas and approach were completely wrong, plus all the reports of his absenteeism(sp?) and unprofessional on set behavior were a big part of why Fant4stic was so terrible.

True, and I think his actions after the film - including this latest - have been immature and irresponsible.

If he had done a great job from the start, Kinberg and the studio wouldn't have gotten involved and he would have been able to make his film... for better or worse.

While it's fun to watch the train-wreck, if Trank was a professional, he'd just shut up and move on.

This is probably jus anecdotal, but over the past 6 months, I've been sending my more valuable FF's out for CGC grading and selling by less valuable ones on ebay. While I've been doing that, I've been watching other FF's and seeing what sort of prices they're going for.

Over the past few days, I've had a weird feeling that the prices are going up and people are paying more for books that were going for less just a few weeks ago.

I didn't really think too much about it, but this morning I thought: "Hmmm, maybe this is related to the Brazil news and the idea the deal could close soon and we might be getting an FF film."

Again, maybe just anecdotal, but it got me wondering.

I also find it funny/great that ever since the acquisition was being finalized, they’ve been playing Rise of the Silver Surfer ad nauseum on the movie channels the last few months. X-Men 1 also.

Getting us ready subliminally I say.

Disney would want us to forget those movies. They'll want to start fresh.

Why It's Time for a Silver Surfer Movie

From THR

“But let’s just say if we were to catch even a glimpse of a silver surfboard in the post-credits of Avengers: Endgame, well it might be the most cheer-worthy and thematically fitting final moment since Nick Fury first told Tony Stark he’d just become part of a bigger universe.”

Oh if only

I’m just not sure if they can pull that off before the film is set to drop. The deal being made official sometime soon and the end of April where Endgame is releasing just seems like cutting it close.

But if any studio can make that happen, it’s marvel.

I'm guessing Marvel have something filmed for xmen and ff but it's all down to the deal closing in time whether or not the footage is used. From what I've been told it's not illegal for them to film something but it would be illegal for them to show it If the deal wasn't final yet.

Also, doesn’t Dark Phoenix come out after Endgame?

It would be weird to have something x-related at the end of a marvel studios movie when the last fox-men movie has yet to be released

Like sure they’ll own it all by then, but still weird nonetheless

I don't have any grudge or enmity against the character at all, but I just don't see the hype about Silver Surfer....

He rides around the galaxy on a surfboard (so surfing I guess is just a universal thing) and picks planets for Galactus to feast on. Big whoop. lol.

This is true. I think they should wait till after DP to keep the distinction between before and after clear.

The only way I can see a SS or Galactus post credit scene in Endgame is if those rights got transferred to Marvel (or moved from Fox exclusive to Marvel/Fox shared characters) when the deal for the Gifted and Legion TV shows were greenlighted by the Mouse. We still don't know what they got for that and that was a rumor at the time.

Feige is very meticulous and he wants to micromanage the quality of his creation. I doubt he'd put something if he didn't plan it well ahead of time.

I don't know much about SS, but you can get that kind of minimalism to any character.

He just wears a mask with a bat face and is rich, whoopeedeedoo.
He just wears an iron suit and flies around and is rich, whoopeedeedoo.
He just swings around NYC in a spider suit, whoopeedeedoo.
He just turn into a big green monster and smashes things, whoopeedeedoo.
He can regenerate and claws come out between his kuckles, whoopeedeedoo.

You get the point. If Comic book nerds would be excited for a SS movie, then I trust there's a rich story behind it.

I love the character. Requiem was great, as well as the recent Slott/Allred run.

But the reason Norrin has such a huge fanbase is the gorgeous, minimalistic Kirby design. Easily the best looking cosmic comicbook character ever created.

ONLY if they have him surfing to a certain Satriani song..... oh to hear 'Surfing with the Alien' in the MCU.

So the first Marvel movie to get an Academy Award is the one with the blackest cast.

I can’t wait to read the inevitable racism lmao

But a well deserved win for Ruth Carter.
