They I think have to deal with another hurdle: Brazil.
Brazil is the one I’m most curious about since according to ADollarADay one organization there is trying to fight it. That’s the one that I think is going to be a bit up in the air for a while. I do think the deal will ultimately get approval there but you never know....

As i come from a family in South America from a country that rivals Brazil in football, all I have to say is:

Hey Brazil, for once, don’t be ‘that guy’

Which organisation? And why?

Their new president seems a total nut job.

Brazil doesn't have the weight to throw around that China does. At some point, Disney will give them an ultimatum and they'll either find a way to make it happen or Disney will pull out of the market - and if the politicians allow the latter to happen, they'll have some angry voters to answer to.

You really need to look up what's happening in brazil. The president has endorsed the use of torture and wants millitary dictatorship. The day after he won the election he sent soldiers into the universities to confiscate "socialist propaganda", he has declared war on the drug dealers in the favelas, no court nothing the army will be sent in to kill them. Oh and there were 64,000 murders last year.

Really don't think the population of brazil will be that bothered about not watching the new mary popins.

Yeah, this^^ There's some bad stuff going on in Brazil right now.

After the Chinese approval here’s the markets that are left in order for the deal to close:

Brazil(we’ll see what happens)
Israel
Japan
Australia.
Mexico
Russia
South Africa
South Korea
United Kingdom

Bolsonaro may have some extreme stances, but Brazil is still a democracy.

And if there's real concern that he'll put an end to that, Disney shouldn't be worried about staying there anyway.

Under any circumstances, Disney is more important to Brazil than Brazil's business is to Disney.

Did not expect to wake up and see China approval this morning. Very good news.

I think it will probably be approved anyway.

A bit earlier than I expected wasnt expecting it till the 26-30th but I'll take it if it happens.

Brazil is not going to stop this merger, but it is an important market. Disney is not going to give an ultimatum and ultimately say no to a growing market of 200MM+ with a rising middle class.

They will work together and get the deal completed. No worries. Globo's main goal is soccer (pun intended). Fox and ESPN have a large amount of licenses and can steal the national team's license from Globo which would severely hurt them.

I haven't looked at what's happening there or other countries, but it's good to hear about China.

Disney will most likely have to divest some more sports channel assets in Brazil I doubt it will be a huge loss.

Football is worth more than films in a lot of countries. I'm guessing brazil is similar to the uk. If you want to sell telephone/cable/broadband in the country you have to own rights to football.

Disney might be more interested in the cash and just want the deal to go through though.

Only Monday and already this is turning out to be quite the week! If this is true (not getting my hopes up yet) I can’t wait for Friday! I would be interested in finding out what that “credible source” is, too.

Is anyone a little nervous about the rumors that....

Avengers 4 will apparently have a huge time jump and Tony will have daughter? I’m not sure how they’ll handle those elements

I thought the word was

Ant Man's daughter was going to be aged with the time jump?

not nervous at all. If it does happen it will probably be reversed by the end of the movie.

So the EU approval doesn't apply to the UK? I thought Brexit hadn't been approved yet? Until that's approved isnt the UK technically part of the EU approval?
