She said black people are more racist to her than white people just because some fans wanted a dark skinned storm. It is absurd, because the majority of those that defend black actors/actresses on social media when their characters are getting hate are black people. Candice Patton, Anna from Titans, Zendaya and a lot of other actresses are examples of this. That's the main reason why everyone hates her and wants her to be recasted.

Oh well. She ought to know that loose lips sink shipps. :o

What about if it was true?
She was mad fans wanted another actress. She could have ignored it, that's what I would have done. it's disrespectful to tell majority of your fan base something like that on social media even if its how you feel. If she feels that way, then why play one of the most iconic black female characters? She could have auditioned for anything else. Imagine Chadwick coming on social media and saying something like that, even if its true that would be stupid because he would alienate majority of his fans.

Ehhhh, I'm not sure if anybody remembers but there was a backlash to Shipp being cast as Storm because fans felt like Storm was being semi-white washed by Singer. When the news came out about the deal - a swarm of fans started attacking Shipp's identity as a black woman. Her tweet was in retaliation to those attacks.

Feige would be wise to play it safe and cast a dark-skinned/non-mixed actress to play Storm so he can avoid the controversy

If it was white people being racist she should be free to talk about it, why not if it's black people? Every race can be racist this is not a white disease. Thinking that it is and covering up other races being racist is in itself racist.

If someone is racist to you then say it to that person don't generalize a whole group especially when you have a visible job like that. It doesn't look good no matter the race of the person saying it.

Sorry i don't know her exact quote but if she said more black people were racist to her than white that is not a generalisation it is just stating a fact (if it was true). She did not say all black people are racist.

I'm just telling you one of the reasons a lot of black fans don't want her to play Storm. Now whether they are right or wrong to hate her because of that tweet is a different matter, and I don't think this is the right thread to have that conversation.

They are wrong. They should be going after Singer for the decision not Shipp. He tried to get Zendaya to play Storm before he settled on Shipp and she is even more racially ambiguous than Shipp is. All she did was take a highly-coveted role that she thought would boost her career. The blame is completely misdirected.

Even though Storm has been drawn many different ways, with a variety of skin tones -- The complaints against Shipp I can understand because of the lack of representation for dark-skinned actresses. Feige won't make the same mistake.

Kiki Layne (Golden Globe winning 'If Beale Street Could Talk') is my choice for Storm

I found it weird a while back when I saw a post talking about someone new being cast as Storm and that they hoped she would "be played by a black woman this time", because it's not often you see someone being that openly racist here. It's another thing entirely to see people asking her to be quiet "even if it's true".

They used up a lot of the actresses on Black Panther already. They need to find someone of Lupita calibre that they could cast as Storm.

There should be no 'blame' to assign. I can understand preferring someone darker skinned to play a specific character, but it's not a hate crime if a black role goes to a black actress.

Used up? Ermm... There are A LOT of talented young black actresses in Hollywood. They need to get it right as Storm may very well end up becoming the face of the X-Men franchise and the eventual leader of the X-Men. (Both of which she did in the 80s) Within the 10-13+ run in the MCU

Waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, first suggestion where I kind of see Storm. I know this is superficial, but how tall is she?

I don't know this actress. What's her presence and personality like? Comic Storm always has this regal air and seems more authoritative and older than her actual age. Does this actress have that or would she seem too young and too much like other contemporary girls who are raised in the west?

She's tall - 5'8 which is the perfect height for Storm.

Yes, she does, absolutely. You should see Beale Street. She plays soon-to-be black mother in the early 70s fighting for the freedom of the man she was going to marry. The movie has been making huge waves at award season this year

I'm seeing it this Tuesday

Is that her voice? It sounds a bit weak and high-pitched. I always imagined Storm having a deeper voice and much stronger too.

I saw many more pics of her on google.... seeing her in red carpets and the like, she definetly gave me Storm, while seeing her having fun, smiling and all.... it turns me a bit off, because I dont see Storm there (the vibe and her facial feattures, while she's more relaxed). I dont know... I will watch that movie to have a better idea.

in terms of height, she's taller than me, so thats a plus lol

Jackman's natural speaking voice isn't anything like his Wolverine voice. (See Greatest Showman vs Wolverine). They're actors, changing the way they speak for whatever specifications the role requires comes with the territory.

What matters is that Kiki is an immensely talented actress who has a very bright future ahead of her with her breakout role in Beale Street. She could give us emotional and humane but at the same time powerful and ambrosial. That's what Storm needs to be. It's a multi-layered perfomance. She's more than just a badass weather goddess with a deep voice.

I remember when someone tweeted her this:

I died.

Another good example is comparing Liv Tyler's natural speaking voice to the voice she used in LOTR. It's what the folks in the industry like to call "acting"

Watched season three recently and its miles better than 1 and 2. I hope marvel brings it back, its too good to cancel. Is Fox TV included in the deal? If so that could be an option for daredevil.

For the life of me I do not understand the Dardevil Season 3 d**k riding that's going on right now. I guess a lot of people enjoyed Murdoch's 13 episode sh***y black suit wearing pity party a lot more than I did.

Not that there weren't great moments, but I prefer my Daredevil shows with a lot more Daredevil and a lot less Matt Murdock wear's a sh***y black suit, and gets his ass kicked constantly while crying about it the whole time.

The problem is that the GA has now accepted Bryan Singer's vision of the X-Men as the definitive X-Men, and not the X-Men from the Marvel Comics that originated from the 60s and made popular by Claremont in the 80s. It will take MCU years to create an X-Men that replaces the one that people had grew up with 20 years ago.
