Based on their track record, at worst GOTG3 should be kind of bland and forgettable and not actively awful. For the upside who knows? Just look at The Avengers. I personally would say they got better after Joss Whedon left (we'll include Civil War in this).

The Avengers is still my favorite MCU film. Certainly Marvel movies have improved in many technical regards, but that first time watching the Avengers come together was something special and I don't know if Marvel will quite top that for me again. Endgame I think is the one that will have the best chance to top it for me.

A proper faithful Fantastic Four could do it.

SHELVE IT! SHELVE IT! BEFORE ITS TOO LATE BOB IGER! SAVE US FROM DARK PHOENIX!

In all seriousness, I still want to see the movie. I’m more morbidly curious than legit excited for it.

I still see you rated Civil War and Infinity War higher than Age of Ultron though based on your signature.

MLex: Brazil decision on Disney/Fox now put off past January
Jan. 23, 2019 2:51 PM ET|By: Jason Aycock, SA News Editor

Brazil's ruling on Disney's (NYSE:DIS) $71B deal to buy the media assets of Twenty-First Century Fox (FOX, FOXA +0.2%) will now wait past Jan. 30 in a new delay, MLex reports.

Earlier MLex reporting in November suggested that Brazil's Tribunal could sign off on the deal at its last session of 2018 on Dec. 5; after that, it wasn't set to reconvene until Jan. 30.

Now it looks like that decision is further off.

When it does come, with a satisfactory consent decree already drafted, a recommendation could end up in a decision for the deal to proceed. Regulator CADE still has until March 18 to issue its initial decision on the deal.

Fox shares dipped suddenly just minutes ago but have recovered.

What if Brazil takes so long to approve the deal that it actually gives enough time for Fox to actually get that pro-mutie propaganda heist film starring that super-sexy hunk Channing Tatum off the ground?

I forgot the name of the mutie superhero heist film with Channing Tatum in the lead but Fox better be sure it’s a gambit that pays off for them if the deal takes forever to close.

Argh, I hope not. I want this deal to close before Gambit can go into production. There must be something Disney can do it, I wonder if they pull out of Brazil altogether if they keep dragging this on

What pulling out when Brazil is one of the fastest growing markets for entertainment, and Marvel movies are popular. No way they are going to do that, my feeling is that Disney will just divest Fox Sports in Brazil to get this deal done.

Not the least bit surprised.

Ya gotta love how the first guy's last name is Shuler, though- the comic book movie gods must have a wonderfully ironic sense of humor....

Is seeking alpha a reliable source? I know they use bloomberg as their source. I just find it odd since we had that CTFN article the other day saying January 30th approval was looking likely. What changed?

Yes.

What did change, though? We heard that they were looking to approve on deal the 30th. And now Alpha is saying that Brazilian regulators are split over divestitures and behavioral remedies? Does this mean there is disagreement within court itself?

I cant imagine how pissed off Iger and co must be getting at these constant brazil delays. 71 billion dollars is literally hanging in the balance.

Nothing changed. Alpha is reporting on a bloomberg piece, which has a source from MLex. They may still approve by the 30th. You guys should take these reports at face value, not as the bible of something that's definitely happening/not happening. Things like this change all the time.

Disney/Fox are prob still sticking to the first half of 2019 completion to account for possible hurdles that might happen.

I wonder if the new Brazil government is what's holding up the Fox-Disney deal.

Iger rarely tweets so when he does you know its special.

Had Iger not agreed to let Kevin Feige get out from under Ike Perlmutter's thumb, Black Panther's Oscars spree would never have happened. Perlmutter notoriously refused to allow Marvel Studios to stage even limited Oscars campaigns for its film because he didn't want to pay for PR experts. With Iger and Alan Horn giving budget approval and support, Feige was able to hire a renowned team to run the campaign this season. That is why Black Panther was so successful not only in the Oscars race but with the other awards.

Perlmutter also opposed even making Black Panther at all. One hopes that he's fuming about the film's success and all the money Disney spent on PR to get those nominations.

Perlmutter refused to do a lot of things. Reuse themes because he didnt wantnto pay composers, pay the actors their due which almost caused the avengers to quit after thenfirst film, refused to promote female characters merchandise and most importantly boycotted every single movie that could star a woman or a minority.

Its widely reported that he agreed to greenlight bp and cm because feige promised him he would do inhumans and ike wanted to spite fox and turn inhuman to mcu x-men. Oh and he also created the creative committee who interefered with whedon during aou, drove wright away from ant-man, cut ronans backstory from guardians and killed off maya hansen because of course Ike would never have a female main villain. Oh, and he wanted rdj cut from civilnwar and he tried to slash the movies budget.

Yeah, more people need to know what a piece of work perlmutter was and realize the mcu worked despite him not becausenof him. He drove feige so insane he almost quit in 2015.
