And yet Fox still released Fant4stic only to hold on the rights. They were so petty about not letting the rights go they didnt care if it damaged the brand. I dont think theyll care if DP is bad ether. They might try one more lot of reshoots but man I think theyll just pull the plug and tell kinberg to release whatever cut of the film he has lol Fox knows it will be rebooted anyway.

Maybe Kinberg will plough on ahead with reshoots for Dark Phoenix because he hopes that Fox can keep the rights to X-Men.

Then someone can tap him on the shoulder and tell him about the Disney/Fox deal that is nearly completed.

That was Fox. This is Disney. Fox didn't care because they just needed something, anything to prevent Disney from getting the rights back. Disney does care about making money of these properties.

According to Campea(based on a source he really trusts) "Fox is panicking over the movie" and "they don't know what to do with the movie."

What if funny enough Fox ends up shelving this film?

Something that somehow only just occurred to me is that I don't remember even Fantfourstic having this bad of publicity this early on. Sure, we knew about the fighting between Fox and Trank, but I feel like (if I'm remembering the timeline correctly, which I might not be) a lot of it came out close to its release; not several months before. They were at least able to keep the floodgates closed for a while, weren't they? Not only that, but I'm pretty sure we haven't heard a single positive word about Dark Phoenix- unlike (again, I'm not sure on this, so feel free to correct me) Fantfourstic and other doomed comic book adaptations. Could Dark Phoenix actually be in a worse position leading up to release?

Fant4stic definitely had a bunch of defenders that ignored all of the warning signs. Campea was one of them.

I think there were a couple of big differences with Fant4stic though compared to this film. First, Josh Trank did Chronicle which a lot of people liked. That gave him more leeway than Kinberg who has a much worse reputation. Second, there was some hope that Fant4stic would be the start of a new Fantastic Four franchise. One fans were desperate for as Fantastic Four has been around since the early 60s and never had a good live-action adaptation. Dark Phoenix is an obvious lame duck because of the buyout. The franchise is dead no matter what and it is extremely difficult if not impossible to build hype in that environment.

The negativity towards FFINO came early and often on this board's predecessor as soon as the bizarre casting was revealed. And there was a steady flow of similar sentiment after we got a glimpse of the horrid costumes (Crash Test Dummy Doom! Vents and Tubes!) and the truly ridiculous choices by Trank (Ben is a wee baseball player! Johnny and Sue are adopted siblings! Victor Domashev!) Dark Phoenix is highly anticipated in comparison to FFINO.

I don't mean from us. Fant4stic had a ton of bad buzz but the defenders were louder. Nobody cares enough to defend Dark Phoenix. Go to the X-Men boards and maybe like two people are defending it.

Hey marvelrobbins On twittr seems tobe exctef for This to.Looking forwrd to see jeans cgI costume.

Was the name of Jessica Chastain’s character ever spoiled yet?

If the FFINO defenders were still here they'd probably defend it. Where's Digific Writer when you need him?

its sad cause the only reason Fant4stic was even greenlit was so Fox could hold onto the rights I wish they never released it. I'm pretty sure all they needed was a film in production to keep the rights isnt it? I dont think they actually needed to release the movie. They knew if Marvel got them back theyll do it right and better than they ever did. Under Feige F4 probably has $800 million potential easy.

Ughhh... what is Brazil's problem??? I think I might've jinxed things with my post earlier. I wonder how far past January. It sounds like they have to decide by March 18th, so I'm hoping well before then.
Some corrupt as***e wants to get paid under the table, and knowing they're one of the last holdouts, plus that Disney is already making concrete, time-sensitive, plans for what comes next (selling the sports networks), they suspect that gives them a better bargaining ship. That's business as usual over there. I've seen it happen first hand, because of my work.

Your probably right which Is why this is so weird. I wonder whats happened. Did someone get left out? or did Disney not pay enough? or is there some executive that feels like they need to make a statement with these type of mergers that Disney cant just do whatever it wants. Given that this is such an historic merger theres probably some executive in CADE that wants to make a statement by making Disney divest something probably its sports assets in Brazil or as you say just wants more money.

Nice to see Campea reluctantly eat some crow, sort of.

I'm still doing my mental voodoo so that said POS movie gets only a streaming release.
I actually want it to be shelved and never seen by anybody, but whatever, I can live with it being on streaming.

What's happened (assuming it's a similar situation to what I've seen first hand) is that they never have enough, and will continue to ask for more until they're convinced the well has dried up.

Ugh. Its actually sad how corrupt Brazil is. Like theres corruption and then theres corruption. Seems like Brazil is on another level. Wonder how much At&t had to pay for approval.

looking back it also seems like AT&T had trouble getting approval in Brazil.

Brazilian Antitrust Officials Question AT&T’s Bid For Time Warner

That was in August 2017.

It wasnt approved until October 2017.

Brazilian Antitrust Authority Approves AT&T Acquisition of Time Warner

So if this follows a similar timeline we could get approval in March.

Seems like Campea has no idea what sunk cost and write off is.

More girth and bigger brow please. Its actually interesting that neither of those actually look like chiklis.

These Things completely lack character without the trademark big brow and too human looking face.
Yea, I agree. Hehe. I'm just wondering what Chiklis Thing would have looked like if they polished it in post.

For the MCU, I want Thing to look like this

I think the key to making the Thing work is not trying to make him look like some hideous, deformed monster like Trank in principal. I mean, that's technically what he is but design-wise, he should be approachable and maybe even "cute" in rock monster sort of way. Make him toy friendly.

Also, make him wide.

I used to like Campea and even stuck up for him, but these days I just think he's an ass. The guy will easily switch from the fake "we're all fans and can disagree" to calling his audience childish names for daring to disagree with him.
