I think the key to making the Thing work is not trying to make him look like some hideous, deformed monster like Trank in principal. I mean, that's technically what he is but design-wise, he should be approachable and maybe even "cute" in rock monster sort of way. Make him toy friendly.

Also, make him wide.

One of the more frustrating things about Fant4stic was, at the very least, they could have easily made Ben look like this, and that would have been reason enough for me to pay to see it even if the rest of the movie was still terrible.

But the silver lining to that is when we finally see him done right by Marvel, he will still feel fresh and new and unlike anything we've seen on film.

Because of the delays in the Disney Fox deal getting approval I am starting to dislike antitrust laws and wish they were abolished everywhere around the world.

They should definitely show him in a variety of clothes. In the Imaginauts story illustrated by the late Mike Weiringo, they showed Grimm in yellow pyjamas with little ducks on them, and slippers. This is what he wore to sleep.

He has to be the equivalent of the MCU teddy bear, but one who is tough as nails. They need to show him as the Marvel everyman whom everyone likes. To that end, they should have him cameo in other people's movies to emulate the Marvel Two-in-One feel.

My preference would be to have him wear the blue shorts as his "uniform". That's his iconic look, so that's what I'd like to see.

My feeling is, when he's in action or even just hanging around the Baxter Building, he'd wear the shorts, because that's how he's most comfortable among the people who accept him that way. When he has to go out, either to an event or just to go to the grocery store, I'd like to see him cover up, but I'd like it to be an uncomfortable situation and something he'd rather not do, but feels he has to to fit in as much as possible and not shock people.

That was the general feel I got from how Kirby portrayed him and I'd like to hold to that as much as possible.

Well, I don't want him feeling too uncomfortable having to wear clothes. That's how we got Trank's naked Thing who was even missing a thing.

I want Grimm to still naturally want to wear clothes, because he's grown up wearing that as a human. And he should still feel modest. Even though he doesn't need to cover up his rocks, he feels more comfortable clothed, and also doesn't want to make others uncomfortable seeing a rock monster all the time.

I also want to see him being adored by millions of people and being kid friendly. In fact, if there were ever a Christmas-set FF movie, I'd like to see him dress up as Santa. That seems typical of something he would do.

Marvel need to start doing these team up movies. If not Marvel Team Up with Spidey, then Marvel Two-in-One with the Thing. That would help showcase more heroes.

I just can't see Morbius being a success. I really think Sony is pushing their luck here. Sure, Sony made bank with Venom but Venom was already a popular character with a highly devoted fanbase that were gong to go no matter what. Furthermore, one could easily highlight two integral factors to Venom's successful box office run with the first being the fact that Venom still looked an monstrous, evil version of the still highly popular Spider-Man which helped generate curiosity/interest for the mainstream audience who weren't very familiar with the character. The second factor being his highly devoted fanbase that were going to go no matter what and helped spread the word to others to build hype about the film. Morbius doesn't have any of those two things going for him; he lacks a highly devoted fanbase, nor does he look a thing like the webslinger. He's not an A-list fan-favorite Spider-Man villain like Venom so most comic book fans aren't exactly chomping at the bits to see him on the big-screen-- he's a B-list character at best. Sony has to ask themselves: What's going to be the draw for the audience this time? That pretty boy Jared Leto? Give me a break!

Though of course Marvel Studios have proven you can turn the most obscure properties into box office juggernauts if you manage to make a good or well-liked movie that will interest the audience but can Sony do that? I don't think so. IMO, Sony's attempt to start a cinematic universe will inevitably end in failure. It's a matter of 'when' not a matter of 'how'.

Which leads me to ask this question: when Kamala Kahn makes her MCU debut do you think they would do away with those powers since Marvel will most likely have Reed be the first superhero with stretching abilities or will they keep those powers for her but have her use it differently than how Reed would use them? Reed will certainly debut in the MCU first before that character so I wonder if Marvel will scrap that power for her over worry about redundancy.

Certainly the latter. Marvel didn't do away with War Machine or completely change him because he has similar powers to Iron Man.

It's less so the ability to stretch and more so shape-shifting. They can visualize her powers in a way that distinguishes her from Reed.

That's something that I've been wondering as well. Kamala is a great character but her powerset is admittedly very derivative. She's basically a mixture of Ant-Man/Reed Richards/Mystique with an accelerated healing factor.

Here's what I would do: I'd get rid of the shape-shifting and keep both the size alteration and the elongation powers, except I'd make them much less effective.

Fant4stic were really going for that, and were planning to limit Reed's stretching (with those springs) because they didn't have the budget and thought stretching was not grounded or gritty enough. I think they were going to say that his super intelligence came as a result of the cosmic rays rather than being inherent to him.
