The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 8

If you look at the last five videos they've released they are...

1. Nebula (She'll be in Guardians Vol. 2)

2. Vulture (Villain for Spider-Man: Homecoming

3. Baron Mordo (Doctor Strange)

4. Riri Williams

5. Life Model Decoys or LMD's (The focus on Agents of Shield right now)

Other than Riri Williams who was just recently announced in comics they all have to do with shows or movies that recently came out or are coming out soon.

It is interesting they did one on Silver Surfer but doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Well.....I wouldn't bet my paycheck on anything of significance here but I just found it intriguing that they would feature one for Surfer. There are some very random characters they did but none of them as far as I saw were FOX held characters other than Surfer. Just some wishful thinking.........

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I’ve been an English FF fan since buying FF 168 in ’76 as a kid. Anyway, I thought I’d throw in my casting suggestions for a new FF film.

Reed - Jake Gyllenhaal - Can play both action/hero adventurer types and science nerds. He’s a semi big star yet never done a Superhero type film and doesn’t command a massive salary compared to some of his contemporaries (I’m pretty sure he’s been overlooked as an option and at 37, he’s the perfect age.)

Sue - Blake Lively - Beautiful, strong, independent yet maternal.

Ben - Jensen Ackles - Similar age to Jake, can do highly physical yet loyal and can do some comedy. He’s never really had the vehicle to make him a movie star. This would be it.

Johnny - Freddie Stroma. He can do cocky, arrogant, and he’s very believable as Blake’s brother.

Getting effective SFX to back up Reed’s stretching powers is the key to making the whole thing work. Otherwise, as before, it becomes laughable and I’m sick of that.

As for plot, I’d have them go against Mole Man and possibly Puppet Master, primarily because I need to see a Thing/Hulk scrap on the big screen.

Save Doom for the sequel, and make him absolutely ICONIC. The baddest ass villain in the MCU bar none - a game changer.

Galactus and Surfer for the third film, the full comic trilogy with no clouds.

Anyway, that’s my two-penneth - take it or leave it.

That's one I had never thought of or heard mentioned, but I like it.

I remember once thinking that Misha Collins might be an interesting Reed Richards.

I like the Blake Lively suggestion. I've thought she should be Sue as well. We really need someone warm in the role after the last two versions of Sue. I did think Jessica Alba was better than Kate Mara though, but that's not saying much.

If you look at the total list, it's quite intriguing. MOST of the characters have been or will be featured in TV shows or films that Marvel at least has partial control of (Legion and Spider-Man would be the ones that fall under partial control). I've marked all those properties in green.

And then there are the small number of characters that haven't yet been mentioned in association with any TV shows or films but are controlled by Marvel. Those are in black. The ONLY. The absolute only character on that list that Marvel doesn't have a stake in (as far as we know) is Silver Surfer. It's fairly glaring from that point of view.

There are no Wolverine or Deadpool or Professor X or Jean Grey or Reed Richards or Dr. Doom or Magneto etc. etc. etc. videos, but there is a Silver Surfer video.

That certainly doesn't 'prove' anything, but it does raise an intriguing question. Why is Silver Surfer the one, unique outlier that goes against the trend of every other character on that list?

I have no answer for that, and until we can come up with an answer to that question, it is an intriguing mystery.

I would have thought Thundra was with FF. Maybe she isn't. Another random character. No Valkyrie but theres Thundra.

I think, like the Inhumans, she (along with her sisterhood) may fit with the FF, but she's also not key and she could act as a stand-alone character/story, so Marvel probably didn't include her with the original package (and Fox probably didn't request her).

If Fox had made a series of great films and they got to the fifth or sixth film and decided they wanted to do a Thundra story-line, I'm sure they could have worked something out.

Well it's definately interesting.

Sadly Namor doesn't seem to be popular enough to appear in a movie in spite of that. I wonder how long before that changes.

And Ant-Man did? :cwink:

Do not underestimate the power of the Feige.

EDIT: He may find your lack of faith......disturbing.

That's one I had never thought of or heard mentioned, but I like it.

I remember once thinking that Misha Collins might be an interesting Reed Richards.

It's hard to say how well tv actors might do. Back when the Story efforts were casting I thought Alexis Denisof would have been a good choice, but that was based on him having the right look, rather than acting chops, screen presence etc.

Think he'd be a bit too old now.

Interesting list, thanks for compiling it. Very telling IMO. Marvel is also heavily promoting Legion, which is a bit bizarre to me.

And Ant-Man did? :cwink:

It's also worth noting that any movie that relies heavily on water is expensive as hell to make (see POTC movies). Either you spend a lot of money to do it right or you have Khal Drogo hold his breath underwater like in BvS lol

Marvel Television is involved in production. It's in their interest to promote it.

Trying to read into the Marvel 101 videos as some sort of as some proof just seems unrealistic.

I was the person who found those videos and never saw them as any proof of anything. Just something worth noting and discussing.

Pay no attention to TheVileOne's straw-man. He is constantly trying to claim that we're a bunch of irrational reactionaries, so when we say things like:

but doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Well.....I wouldn't bet my paycheck on anything of significance here

That certainly doesn't 'prove' anything,

He ignores reality and creates a straw-man by saying:

Trying to read into the Marvel 101 videos as some sort of as some proof just seems unrealistic.

As if someone claimed that when nobody did. And then he argues against that "unrealistic" person who was his own creation.

Knocking down a straw man is the life's blood of forums.
Especially putting words in people's mouth.

Except you posted a whole list of those videos pointing out that almost all of them have appeared in a movie or TV show, but Silver Surfer is an outlier. The videos are being read into here.

Well yeah. The videos are being read into. We're having a conversation on what does this mean. No one is saying that this is definitive proof of anything.

I don't think anyone here ever has or knows whether when they connect the dots from A to Z that it's definitive proof of anything.

Except you posted a whole list of those videos pointing out that almost all of them have appeared in a movie or TV show, but Silver Surfer is an outlier. The videos are being read into here.

What I very specifically said was:

That certainly doesn't 'prove' anything, but it does raise an intriguing question. Why is Silver Surfer the one, unique outlier that goes against the trend of every other character on that list?

I have no answer for that, and until we can come up with an answer to that question, it is an intriguing mystery.

Do you have an answer to that mystery? I'm a curious person. When something is incongruent, it makes me ask 'why'?

If you don't have an answer, doesn't it make you curious?

Trying to read into the Marvel 101 videos as some sort of as some proof just seems unrealistic.

Were you scarred as a child or somethin when you found out Santa didnt exist? Emotions ran high and you vowed never to let it happen as long as you live again?

Seriously man all jokes aside. Nobody is making a big deal out of this. In this thread where theres a little smoke we like to investigate for fire. One can only hope around here. Thats literally all we got until we start to get any official news or confirmation. Like I have said times before my desire is for an early reversion. If it dont happen......whatever.

If its worth mentioning we discuss. If there were a bunch of Xmen characters in these videos and then we got some FF characters this wouldnt be a blip on our radar.

Its gotten to the point where it is probably best to ignore the self-appointed devil's advocate to the "Keep Hope Alive" board. On multiple occasions I have pointed out that he has flat out lied about the content of posts in order to support his position that this board is filled with loons. And rather than apologize for twisting other folks words into something that matches his reality, he soldiers on with his version of the truth.

I get enough "alternative facts" from our Glorious Leader in the White House. I don't need it in the place I go to escape from the wit and wisdom of Commandant Trump.

Knocking down a straw man is the life's blood of forums.
Especially putting words in people's mouth.

But can you show "proof" that what you're saying is true? :cwink:

Why is everyone around here trying to prove something???? :o
