Marvel is now the world's biggest movie producer. 20 years ago, Marvel Studios wasn't in a position to make these types of movies. Now they are, and they are pretty much setting the tone for everyone else. The film rights for Fantastic Four are really best suited for the actual original rights holder in the first place and not 20th Century Fox, and the proof is in the pudding. 20th Century Fox has held these film rights for decades, and they've failed to create meaningful results.

If anything, people are rooting for these failures to stop.

Exactly this. If the Fox FF films were good, there would be far less complaining. Fans just want good Fantastic Four films and Fox has proven incapable and/or unwilling to make them.

Me too. I also doubt that Fox gave up the rights already. But I am optimistic that it will happen eventually. When it happens is always subject to debate. Still, Fox needs to make another F4 movie in order to retain the rights anyways, which I doubt they want to do considering Fant4stic cost them millions of dollars.

I would say there were things Marvel were doing as to not promote the X-brand simply because they resided at a rival studio. This relationship didn't turn sour until Disney took over. This is understandable..........however they have recently decided to work with this "rival" to produce some X shows. And there hasn't been any reason whatsoever stated for this change of heart.

They've actually done a good job. X-men darn near feel ancient or just so bland compared to DCEU and MCU.

It doesn't really matter if people here want X-Men to fail or not. It doesn't really matter if Marvel wants X-Men to fail or not.

What matters is that is that IF Fox is even considering Kinberg to write and direct they're not putting an effort into making the X-Men succeed.

Simon Kinberg can do 1000 times more damage to X-Men than any of us or Marvel can do.

Out of 14 films, they've had 5 decent ones and putting Kinberg in charge of X-Men certainly isn't going in the right direction.

But the only thing this list proves is that FOX has a better track record with the X-men than with other comic book movies. No matter who they pick as director or how many setbacks they have, it still won't have any effect on the X-men franchise whereas the Fantastic 4 franchise has been on borrowed time since the Roger Corman film was made.

If they decide (as they did with FF) that they're not going to hire visionary directors, and they're not going to get good scripts and they're not going to invest the resources required to make good films because fans will see any crap they put out, that will have an effect on the X-Men franchise.

A couple weeks ago, I would have assumed they recognized the value of the X-Men and the importance of continuing to invest, but the Simon Kinberg rumors make me question if they really are going to go the cheap route (as they historically have with most of their superhero films).

Thanks for the answer. That clears everything up. Usually when people give answers like that, it means they are avoiding the question because they don't have a real answer, but thanks for letting me know the little green guy with the rolling eyes wants X-Men movies to fail.

Anyway, sure, there are going to be a very small minority in any camp (Fox, Marvel, DC) that want other movies to fail, but the vast, VAST majority of us just want good movies and Fox really screwed the pooch with their last FF effort. Why WOULDN'T I want FF back at Marvel?

I can't wait till the next Fantastic Four Fox movie. Rights are not going anywhere. You have been at this for two years and It's not happening. Fox would be nuts to give up the rights. That they bought fair and square. Saved Marvel from Bankruptcy. So they won't. Marvel isn't entitled. Fox isn't in the wrong for keeping the rights. No obligation to sell them back!

Kinberg is amazing. I'm glad he's still in the fold.
