BvS The Superman Suit Thread - Part 2

VISION! I thought that's who that was. I couldn't really tell.

It's funny that when it's the MOS suit people say "the blue needs to be broken up" but when it's a Marvel character with a one-color bodysuit then it's perfect and the response is overwhelmingly positive.
There are two concept posters for Avengers II that show the Vision (see the 'Paul Bettany IS The Vision' thread). The side and front can be seen and in both instances the green bodysuit is broken up by the inclusion of red accents along the sides and what appears to be a yellow band around the waist. Though the Vision and MoS approach differs in the specifics, the fundamental effort to break up the one-color is the same.

I'm glad they got rid of a lot of the shiny, reflective sheen of the mos suit for bvs. I never liked it.

The "sheen" of the MoS costume relies on two factors: the chainmail layer or mesh skin stretched over the body suit, and the way light hits its surface.

I don't believe that the aforementioned mesh skin has been done away with for the new BvS costume, which appears to have the same (or almost the same) reflective properties as the original.

Actually the MOS sheen wasn't due to the mesh, it was due to the muscle suit underneath which was painted metallic silver in places. The BvS suit seems to be more dependant on muscle shading than the muscle suit underneath.

The mesh skin/chainmail definitely contributed to it, though. I understand what you're trying to convey regarding the shading, but the sheen is still there. Notice his left quad muscle in the image I previously posted -- how the light reflects off of it.

Here's a quote from Mackenzie Gray on the MoS costume:

"Amount of detail on Superman is unbelievable. Superman’s costume, is a three-layer costume; there’s a body-skin layer and then there’s a muscle layer that was molded to Henry’s muscles – it’s a silver, metallic rubber – and then over that is a mesh skin so whenever he turns into light it looks like he’s made of steel.

It's a combination of both. The printed chainmail pattern has a gloss to it, and the BvS suit still has both the metallic suit and the chainmail. It just depends on the lighting, same goes for the color of the suit

All I can say os that the BvS Superman suit looks AMAZING!

I don't dislike BvS, but not only do I prefer the original I feel it is the better of the two... the devil is in the details (as they say).

Whoever doesn't like this suit is my sworn enemy! :o

Joke :D

I like the little tweaks they've made to the suit.

To be fair, there's a lot of detail that breaks up the suit and not make it look like the MoS onesie. Plus, a lot of the complaints about the MoS suit were from all the "fans" who just wanted Supes in red briefs.

I don't see those details that break up the design you're saying. That suit is even more onesie.

There's no red accents and there's definitely no yellow band around Vision's waist in the new pics Marvel just released.

There's actually no detail that "breaks up the suit." It's just a green bodysuit, just like the MOS suit is a blue bodysuit.

But I completely agree that those complaining about the blue in the MOS suit needing to be "broken up" were just people who wanted the red briefs. That's my point in posting this picture of Vision. People saying "the blue needs to be broken up" has always been complete nonsense. It has nothing to do with color or design. I has everything to do with nostalgia. Case in point: when Vision has the exact same design everyone loves it and there's no mention of the bodysuit color needing to be broken up.

Maybe not breaking up the suit color-wise, but there's plenty of panel details all over the suit whereas, MoS only has the belt/hip paneling. Maybe you guys should zoom in?

I see few lines only...

However the MOS suit and the BvS suit had belt and pipping that does way better the way of breaking the design

I'm going to have to disagree with you there...

... granted it might not be a "yellow" band at the waist, but there's something going on and there are definitely red accents.

And... the blue did need to be broken up. And they did a decent job of it. And it had everything to do with color and design.

No disrespect to anyone, I hope this doesn't turn into a "DC vs Marvel" again :( I love them both!

It doesn't have anything to do with that and though it may not seem "on topic", it is... if you follow the string you'll find it is a defense of the MoS suit that in no way criticizes the Marvel/Vision design.

^ We were talking about the concept art shown and if the two pics you shown there's yellow in the concept leaked they're not. I'll wait to the final product to give a veredict but we were talking about of that specific image. ;)

^ Then OP picked a poor reference and from that formed an erroneous conclusion as it is plainly obvious from the official pics that Marvel has taken the same approach as DC in breaking up the monotone bodysuit.
