The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR Batsuit Discussion Thread VI

The suit in The Dark Knight was alright to me. The only thing I didn't like that much was the chest area because you couldn't see the Bat logo that well. I actually like the ones from Begins better. I wish they had kept that concept, but give the ability to rotate the head. That being said, I hope there isn't another design. Three different suits in three different movies that are supposed to be so closely related seems weird to me. I guess I would just prefer some consistency as far as that aspect of the film is concerned.

Well when somebody comes into the thread and basically says "Your opinions are obviously wrong because not enough people share it" people kind of get defensive, you know?

Yeah I know exactly what you mean.

Do you know what, I have never heard people complain about the nipples on the suit in the Schumacher movies, except for on this website. I guess that means it's not a problem?

Have you been to Comic Book Resource Forums? Because there have definitely been complaints there. I saw one about five days ago. Just look up Batman and Robin on YouTube and I'm sure you'll find a comment about it.

its almost as odd as people demanding a change in the costume when it obviously wont switch to cloth in tdkr...

because it wont lol...therefore being just as pointless i suppose...

I don't recall anyone demanding the suit be changed, they just wish it would and argue that what they want is possible.

If people weren't allowed to say what they want because it probably won't happen then these entire forums should be shut down.

Also, your signature is stupid.

anything is possible...
and everyones allowed to post what they want...but the arguments have gone on for so long...that its just ridiculous hah

and thats your opinion...and i respect it...
but in my opinion yours is...

To be fair (and I'm on your side in this, even if I don't necessarily hate the TDK suit, just playing devil's advocate) I've heard Schumacher himself talk about what a big deal the nipples on the suit were.

Yeah but J-Dogg thought it was a good idea. He thought it was remniscent of armors of soldiers from ancient civilisations. But they don't actually have nipples on them.

:lmao:

Is there any background behind the name "The Dark Knight Rises"? Is it possible the studio pushed for that title just to get more people to see the movie? Ultimately is it up to the director/producer to name the film, or the studio?

Uh huh and where exactly did I say anyone's opinions are wrong? Show me the quote. The very first thing I said was what looks good is subjective.

What I said was that the majority seemingly have no problem with either of Nolan's bat suits because outside of this forum you'd be hard pressed to find any kind of noticeable backlash or criticism against them. Not that you or anyone else is wrong for disliking them. Don't accuse me of something I didn't say just because you're feeling defensive.

Studios definitely mess with the titles of movies. Why else would Scorsese's next film have gone from "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" to "Hugo Cabret" to it's current title of just "Hugo" , or the new POTA film going from Cesar: Rise of the Apes , to Rise of the Apes, to Rise of the Planet of the Apes?

Well everybody here is very passionate about their Batman. Especially the Batsuit.

Actually, you are mistaken.
Some ancient Roman and Greek warriors had cuirasses (breastplates) that were sculpted to mimic the male torso, and that sometimes included nipples, and the torso pieces of Scumacher's Bat-costumes look remarkably just like them.

If they had put Bale in a Hollywood version of DE suit this same "majority" you speak off would have gone to the movie nonetheless, ate thier popcorn, went home, and the fanboys among them would have come back for the second and third shows, professed faith in Nolan, bought the DVDs, etc., etc, etc., Oh sure, there'd be some backlash here but the "majority" would have gone about their business of not bothering about this sort of thing just the same.

The argument here is amongst those who are interested, compelled, obsessed, bored, to the point of discussing these sorts of things and within that group the consensus was that the TDK suit lost the plot and that in comparison the BB suit was preferred.

That's an SHH fact.

I was on-line when it first came on-line, too, and I recall positive response distinctly in favor of the TDK suit.
And what you've done is take the opinion of those who don't care about the minutiae as proof of acceptance; but the argument here is between those who actually have some interest in the details.

He's right. The very first publicity still of Bats on the cop car, gained a near universal praise over the BB suit.

That is, up until this candid shot popped up:

That's where the decline started. As more stills came out that painted the suit in hard light, the further the divide between the fanbase. And here we are.

BatScot, I have just realised that you are Scottish. Despite being familiar with the Scottish flag and the hint in your username, this has never occurred to me before.
