I wasn't really trying to say Nolan hadn't done anything before Begins. Just pointing out that Blomkamps track record is comperable (because someone asked "what has Blomkamp done besides D9?"). Plus Blompkamp has an Oscar nominated movie under his belt. Though we can all agree that Memento
should have been nominated if not won.
But just by the by (sorry but I'm a stickler when it comes to Box-Office numbers), Insomnia's budget was $46 mil. It made $113 worldwide. That's way off from tripling, which would be $138. It's closer to doubling, or 2.46X to be exact.
And uhh... Blomkamp's track record. District 9: Budget: $30 mill. Worldwide gross: $210 million. He septupled (word?) his production budget.
Like I said if they considered Blomkamp as Nolan's successor, he would instantly have my vote.
