I'm buying that Batman.

How about a fabric suit that isn't skin-tight? Or are we condemned to have rubber batsuits forever?

But Batman isn't Spider-Man. He doesn't need to look like him.
That wasn't the point. The point, is it can work on film. This series? Hell no, it would be too much of departure from what is established, but for another series, I think it would work just fine.

I thought Spiderman looked good in all of his movies.
You got me there, but Batman is an entirely different character than Spiderman. What works for Spidey won't always work for Batman.

In this case, I don't think tights will ever look good on Batman unless...

Possibly. I'd love to something new. At this point, I'm ready for anything that isn't TDK's Batsuit. I seriously have an agenda against that mess!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The more traditional you go, the less practical the actual suit will be. There for the suit will always be some sort of armor on screen unless the movie ends with Batman getting stabbed through his flamboyant nipply skin-tight cloth. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the TDK suit because it looks good while also being practical and relevant to the story.
You want a practical Batman costume? Then he can't have a cape.

I never asked for skin tight cloth. I asked for a fabric based costume. With armour underneath.

Most people that are anti-fabric/cloth based costume usually go that route.

Dear god the B89 and BR suits look so cheap and flimsy in comparison to the TDK and BB suits.

Hello Captain Obvious. B'89 was over 20 years ago. That's like saying the Adam West suit looked flimsy in comparison to the Keaton suits.:o

Overall I thought the B'89 suit had too many dodgy qualities to be a favorite of mine but Returns improved on everything '89 got wrong and it's definitely my favorite on screen batsuit.

I liked the material of the SR suit. Imagine a batsuit made of the same material but grey and black. And kevlar worn under the suit to give the actor both muscle definition and to explain how it can be bulletproof. It's too drastic of a change to get in TDKR but imagine something like that in the future...I think it could work well.

Arkham Asylum Batman was flawless. I'd like to see Batman looking like that in live action. Under the suit he should have a flexible body armor. You know, so it can give Batman a bulky look and because it makes sense. The closest Batsuit is the costume from the fan made mini film Batman Dead End. However I'm not a fan of skin tight fabric. Something like the same material used in AA would look better.

I love the look of the fabric suit!!!!

In Theory

In reality you could harm him with a butterknife.

Nolan has it right with the movable armor. It. Makes. Sense.

You didn't read his post.

On another note, I think the most "logical" Batman, at least for his cause of being theatrical and scaring criminals, would be the Demon Batman from Batman Begins:
Batman-demon-02.jpg

-While it may seem a little too extreme, it distinctly is Batman in overall design, except now it's actually believable that criminals would be terrified of him and question if he were human or actually a giant Bat.

I know there is no chance of this happening, but wouldn't it be cool if in Batman 4, they found a way to make Batman look both like Batman and an actual bat-man?
That's exactly the look he would go for in real life if his goal was to look like a monster and scare criminals. Alternatively he could dress up like Manbat, you know, fur, fangs and all that. The thing is that this isnt very cool to look at and it doesnt look like the Batman we know and love.

So i am happy to suspend my disbelief and buy that his batsuit makes him look like that demon from BB to the eyes of a scared criminal.

I feel you. Robin looks great too.
Those figures look great.

Exactly.

I want all the preachers of practicality to actually wear the TDK costume and fight crime, just to see how practical it really is.

Just don't die from the heat exhaustion, okay?

Bit of random musing here, but if we got another "I need a new suit" scene (though I'd be happier without one), I think it'd be fun to reference the classic suit in some way. Like Lucius is looking at Bruce's design and says "Black. Always black. Why's it always black with you? You know, strictly speaking, dark shades of blue or grey are harder to see at night than solid black." :P

I hope this wasn't in response to my post with the Superman pic. That is some of the ugliest, cheapest material I've ever seen. And a $15 cowl from party city:dry:

Yeah but with that expression you can tell he means business.

:woot:

I love how when manips like this appear, Batman always seems to resort to some haggard looking tool-belt. Fabric costume, however they explain it/pull it off, does not mean that Batman can't afford good gear. His utility belt can still be high tech even if his suit doesn't appear to be so. This just comes off as a plumber who has a lot of explaining to do when he comes looking like that to fix my sink.

OH NO please don't tell me the Dead End suit made it's way into this thread please tell me it aint so.

If I remember correctly that awful looking thing was involved in a lot of discussions about the suit pre-TDK, lets just hope it stops here.

Tell me about it. I thought the design of the Dead End cowl was cool but that was it. The cloth suit looks so bad it's not even funny. It just looks pathetic in a serious rendition of Batman. That's why I suggested something far better looking and more expensive like the material used in the Superman Returns suit but with 'kevlar padding'

I'm going to look for a close up pic of the Dead End cowl though, it was just like Bolland's design iirc.
