That article is great, and essentially means that if TDKR was getting a release in China it probably would pass Avengers.
Uh, no.

Now, one wonders why TDKR has less "unaided awareness" compared to the Avengers.
While the web-slinging superhero will enjoy a short run atop the box office, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES should take over when it debuts on July 20. The latest installment of the franchise from Director Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. Pictures should earn slightly more than $400 million from ticket sales in the United States, according to Box Office Analyst. It stars Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Tom Hardy as villain Bane and features Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman. If it picks up steam, it has a chance to reach $500 million at the box office, just like its predecessor, THE DARK KNIGHT in 2008.
Well, Marvel did release a bunch of 2 hour commercials for The Avengers in 2008, 2010 and 2011.
t:Then how are people coming up with this $150 million pre-sale?Based on the data AMC provided, I'm coming up with around $1.5m to $1.7m in pre-sales for AMC so far. Considering AMC's 13% screen count in the North American market, that would be around $11.5m to $13m in total domestic pre-sales at the moment.

Ahhh, it's just a prediction. The way its worded made it sound like it's already made that money. No one said it had $150m in pre-sales. That is a prediction of what it might make for the entire weekend. There isn't a single movie that has ever pulled off $150m prior to release. Harry Potter 8 was the biggest pre-seller ever and it had $25m by the Tuesday before its release. Then it made another $7m over the next 24 hours to reach $32m on the Wednesday before its release. Not sure how much more it made prior to its midnight release around 36 hours later, but it damn sure wasn't $118m to reach $150m in pre-sales.

Yes, I don't see TDKR beating The Avengers' box office wise because of that. We'll see, though. But any way you look at it, TDKR is bound to make a lot of money for a non 3D film. The Avengers will probably beat this only because of 3D
