Take the envy out of your heart. We're all in this together at the end of the day

I don't have any envy...

It's just a personal opinion on the franchise. Apart from Iron Man, they were all very run of the mill for me.

Captain America is as by the books as it gets for comic book films.

Marvel isn't sleeping though.

That's the point to my statement. Neither company is sleeping -- they're both hard at work. The difference is Disney is fully invested in the CB/Superhero genre... WB is not.

Marvel is wiping the floor with WB/DC right now. They have four successful and very enjoyable superhero franchises ongoing right now (not including X-Men at Fox and Spider-Man at Sony).

WB/DC has just one, and that just ended. Although I do think Man of Steel will be good. But WB/DC needs to figure out a plan and stick to it and show confidence in their characters like Marvel does.

I'm not about WB/DC vs. Marvel either. I just want good superhero movies across the board.

Same here.

Other than Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and The Avengers, I find Marvel Studios' films to be very... 'meh'.

Oh damn, I almost forgot the very reason I came in here for...

How's the tracking for this week?

TDKR should end up in third place this week, but by how much?

Probably by around $5m compared to The Campaign, which is tracking for $24-25m. Bourne is tracking in the low 40's.

Is it true the film as a lock for the Billion?

If I recall correctly TDK reached the billion mark at the very end of its theatrical release. So that either makes late 2008 or early 2009 with the january expanded release.

I found out the date on when TDK did hit the billion mark: February 20th, 2009.

Well early indication's of review's suggest Bourne isn't all that great so may well be another week at No.1 for the Bat.

^There is no chance Batman is beating out Bourne this weekend. No matter how bad the reviews for Bourne may be.

Really, I guess a name really can sell a movie even if the characters not even in the thing!!

(waits for inevitable joke about Batman hardly appearing in TDKR:whatever:)

I guess its been out a few weeks now though so Bourne will take it down.

Isn't the big difference that the $ has weakened a great deal since 2008, though? The value of a lot of foreign ticket sales will be a lot higher when converted to dollars than would formerly be the case.

In certain markets that is the case. In the UK for instance, the exchange rate is hurting TDKR a ton compared to TDK. Avengers made more in British pounds than TDK did, yet Avengers made $8m less. TDKR is on pace to match the Avengers gross in pounds, but will likely come up short of TDK's dollar gross as well. In Japan, it's the exact opposite situation. TDKR has a big advantage over TDK thanks to a better exchange rate and also higher awareness than TDK had.
