Didn't that originate from us seeing him with a gas can?

I was always under the impression that it's the dead of winter and the damage from Bane's control has nearly destroyed all the heat in the city. So Blake puts himself on the line to deliver some gas to the orphanage to help the kids.

wouldn't a electric heater work better, though they could be using a gas powered generator

Yeah, I don't know the specifics but electricity could be out too.

Also things like oil, fuel, water, food and other things can become rare commodities at this point so for Blake to be in possession of one of those things and delivering it can add weight to the importance and mystique of his character.

If Bane has shut off, or controls, the electricity, then a gas powered independent generator would make sense.

Yeah, I totally miss AndreaS.

I have over 500 bts HQ photos from just him...

maybe bane is trying to pull a saints row 3 and make Gotham a independent city-state

Yeah, but why the hell is he doing that? I wonder what his motivations are.

Wow, very very good work. It is interesting because I have to wonder does he do all of this before he captures Bruce? Or is the only way to do all of this uninterrupted is to get Batman out of the way first?

Yes, I wonder how much we can infer from No Mans Land. I was reading Cataclysm last night, it preceeds No Mans Land, and came across some interesting quotes from Ra's...

"Do you see what I see, detective, your city has betrayed you. Gotham's crumbling masonry and toppled buildings have killed more innocents than any of Arkhams residents ever could. The powerful and the weak, the rich and the poor, we are all subject to the cruel and transient whims of our environment. That is the reality that the aristocrat Bruce Wayne finally shares with the lowly Gothamites he patronises and protects. All of your wealth could not insulate you from the fate shared by everyone in Gotham....even your beloved sanctuary has been violated. And what of you, detective, Gothams mighty champion is forced to walk the streets and crawl among the rubble trying to defeat what cannot be beaten. Now everything you once relied upon cannot be trusted. The city's instability makes all of your weapons and tricks unreliable and useless. Your small efforts are in vain. Yet even in the face of insurmountable odds you wage your holy war without realising that you cannot save Gotham this time. It matters not...your blind obsession will not change this inescapable conclusion: your city will never be rebuilt. It will be abandoned and eventually consumed by vegetation, erosion and decay. The War is over. Your city no longer needs protection. Gotham has fallen."

Well controlling the electricity, water and heat and whatnot is just a way to assert control.

It's as much psychological as it is physiological. The people need Bane in that situation. As much as they don't agree/like Bane he is in possession of the things they need to live and because of that it will only be a matter of time before before the majority of people turn to Bane's side and against those still trying to rebel.

The rebels keep rebelling? You lose more food, more heat, more water.

then those really bad off start to hate the rebels and then it's just a matter of time before Bane has everyone he needs in the palm of his hands.

In 2-3 weeks time... we could have the final theatrical trailer to The Dark Knight Rises.

Its exciting and bittersweet all at the same time.

No, no, I get that, I was thinking about his motivations for doing all that. Why is he doing it? What happened with him in the past to make him want to do this? Why does he want to confront Batman?

In the comics he pretty much had those motivations, but I doubt that Nolan will go for that same thing - Bane's fear of Bats, hears Batman is the one ruling Gotham, goes there to defeat him.

So, Bane attacking the stadium with his machine would serve the purpose of frightening the citizens/announcing himself and sealing off one more escape route out of Gotham?

That's the million dollar question, of course.

Perhaps. I don't know but that sounds reasonable.

I do hope Nolan gives us more for Bane's reason for going after Gotham/Batman than fear of bats. On paper it sounds hokey. I liked the way he spun the idea of "one bad day" with Joker, so maybe he will do something similar...but I think I'd rather know as much about movieverse Bane's background as possible.

What's the consensus on when that scene of Selina kicking the apple-stealing-thug's ass happened? That seems to be after Bane's invasion, right? Just wondering because Bruce is in that scene too and I'm wondering if that's pre or post his fight (and defeat) against Bane.

If Bruce is still there and its after Bane's invasion, perhaps he doesn't go all gung-ho with his takeover of Gotham. Rather its more subtle, with people who speak out against him disappearing in the night etc.

I would say post Bane fight.

Bruce won't be able to beat Bane alone, so I think there's going to be some time after his beat down to call in the troops/Get in a better mental, physical state to confront Bane.

Systematically hitting Bane in places to weaken him, just as Bane did him.

I'm leaning towards post-Bane fight but that would mean that it's post prison breakout as well so shouldn't Bane be looking for him at that time? Seems odd that Bruce is out in the open like that. Or maybe it's not that out in the open. I don't know. :funny:

Maybe Bane's motivation is against Bruce/Wayne Enterprise, being that perhaps at some point in time "Wayne" manufactured military weapons that supplied multiple parties at war?

I would pay £1000 to get an official still from the movie tomorrow.

Or maybe he just gets overconfident. Bruce couldn't stop him before, he can't stop him again.
