People are getting slightly heated over a B+....ooo i fear for the boards when our first C- grade comes.

You guys are aware that this film is going to get actual negative reviews, right? No need to get worked up over a B+ (regardless of how negative the review reads).

To put it more bluntly: some critics will hate this film. It's both normal and inevitable. You need to get over it now and save yourselves the headache.

I can only imagine the reaction on this forum when Joe Morgenstern of the Wall Street Journal posts his review... :funny:

Why are you being so logical? Stop it. :argh:

:p

Deserana: Where did those Godfather 2 and Shawshank reactions originally come from?

Like I said before I'm perfectly fine with negative reviews of course it is gonna get some. However, this guy is basically saying "It is crap because The Joker isn't in it." She also gives away big spoilers which IMO a critic shouldn't do.

She ALSO said that there was barely any reaction when the film ended however a Brazillian critic who attended the same screening said that the film recieved a heavy applause (not a standing ovation got it wrong).

Him, Rex Reed, Armond White.

Negative reviews are coming. Accept the inevitability of that, and things will go much more smoothly.

David Denby is one of the worst. He seems like he has something personally against Nolan. Rex Reed, didn't he like Begins?

I'm not sure now. The guy I quoted was apparently quoting other reactions. However, I can't get on Twitter to check

Well, an opinion is an opinion. Most of us knew going in that this film would be compared to TDK, and Hardy/Bane to Ledger/The Joker. Nothing about this review is surprising to me.

We've got a mixed review from someone who liked Battleship!! C'mon guys, it's like being disappointed in what Stevie Wonder thinks of your new shirt.

Of course it will be compared to The Dark Knight. But the comparisons should be stuff like "The writing is a step up" or "The crime feel has disappeared" or "The acting all around this time seems a little flat".

However, this critic was just like "The Joker isn't in it which means it was always going to be inferior". He isn't comparing he is literally saying the villain is crap because it isn't The Joker. Whereas IMO Bane looks to be a much better villain. Even if I didn't think he did I'd still rate him on his own and wouldn't just flat out say "Yeah well he isn't The Joker he was always gonna be ****e"

There's nothing to get work up from. I'm still basking in the overwhelming positive reviews. :awesome:

Rex Reed and Armond White liking this film would actually be worrying.

Well I'll be damned. :funny: I'm sure there will be some respectable critics that give the film average/bad ratings, but if that's anything to go by it hasn't started yet. :)

I know there is one critic (possibly from NY?) who really liked Begins but bashed TDK fro not being able to relate to Batman.

Eh, if that's how the reviewer feels that's how she feels. Some will miss the Joker.
People like that anger me. Heath is gone. I'm sorry... They need to accept that and move on. We all miss the character and more importantly, Heath himself.
