Chant sounds so badass and evil in the example clip. Very tribal-war like.

It's damn catchy too, ha! :)

well I put the file into an editor and played it backwards and it doesn't make any sense in reverse either. What was it they did with the original chant that gave them the fire rises website with the bane pic?

If you listen to the sample chant as it progresses it sounds less like the first words used and entirely like Bane, Bane, matalo, matalo. I'm still holding out what it is. They did write this which makes me hopeful it still is.

They're going to compile all the entries and turn it into whatever word/phrase they want.

Has anyone found out if the two words used are from an existing language or just made up for this chant. I still hear the spanish towards the end though as it sounds entirely different from the beginning.

Same here, I still hear Spanish.

Apparently, the track played in the teaser was distorted. Thus the reason for the confusion.

This movie is gonna be crazy. That chant is nuts.

nah I hear the words...

Deshi and Basara.

Deshi means disciple.

Basara
basara (hiragana ばさら)

  1. a term in Japanese aesthetics associated with the challenge of traditional ideals during the Muromachi period
During the Muromachi period a Shogun overthrew the Emperor and set up a rule after a civil war.

So roughly translated "a disciple of a shogun who is seeking to overthrow the status quo through a civil war"?

(yeah I'm probably way out of line and connecting dots that may not be there.)

interesting nonetheless.

Maybe, like they created Ra's's language in Begins, this, to the delight of the fanboys, is the official language of Santa Priscia.....

:funny:

Quite, but that is interesting.

Basara can still be heard as Dispara, so I'll wait until Zimmer finally releases the lyrics.

This was my first theory before I gave into the Spanish theory.

I'll buy that.

Makes plenty of sense to me. I always thought that's what Bane was doing. Creating a civil war to gain control over the city.

Actually, Ken Wattanabe made it up on the spot, but it would be cool as all hell if they expanded it.

Udia ta'moto moinau?

"What are you seeking?"

Pegan, u might be on to something there.

BUT Bane has never spoken Japanese, and how would the prisoners be aware of the term (unless they were Japanese)?

Well there's no proof where the prison actually is. Or that it's prisoners doing the chant. Like I said it's awfully speculative anyway. I'm not sure that's what they're saying either. That's just what it sounds like to me. But if the LoS has been around for a long time.... who knows what languages they may use? Maybe the original Ra's was a shogun? *shrug*

True but I doubt the LoS would form a special chant recently. One would think if a chant did exist, the chant would have been heard in Begins.

That chant is supremely BADASS. I get the feeling part of it will be Bane's theme and part melded with something else. It could evolve from Bane's chant to maybe Gotham's battle cry for their support of Batman? I don't know...

Thinking what Bane said at the stadium, the definition for the word basara fits.

Yeah guys clearly since Bane is the main villian the chant is ALL about Ra's and the LOS....Some people just cant give up the dream.
