The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion & Speculation Thread - Part 6

The IMDb trivia page has no sources for anything that it says, which is a problem.

I'm not basing my opinion strictly off a Youtube video. I'm basing it off the multiple forums I visit, my friends in real life, comments on videos, reviews, websites and voice comparisons.

Why compare though? It's like comparing Frank Miller's Batman to the Brave and the Bold Batman. They are two very different interpretations of the same character.

I like BTAS, but BTAS isn't Year One, Under the Hood, or TDK. Why not enjoy and critique each Batman for what they are instead of what they aren't?

I don't let nostalgia cloud my judgment either. I'm judging it purely from a Batfan's perspective, and I love it. I never said anything was fact. I am debating why I think Kevin is better than ever. Hell, I just finished saying this is all subjective. Everyone has their own opinion.

My bad, for a moment there I thought you meant a two part redo of TDKR (as in RISES) with hamill and conroy cast. Don't ask how I came to that conclusion.

Yeah, I always have conroy's voice as the "normal, 35-40 year old batman" as in Batman in his prime. That's why I don't mind anyone else taking the role of a young batman in his 20's and that's why I certainly would prefer someone taking the role of a 60 year old batman. Different era's in his life, different voices I think.

Not to say Conroy couldn't pull it off, It's just an artistic direction IMO, and I always associate Conroy with the TAS continuity, not the Frank Miller ones. Conroy in DKR would be kinda weird for me because i consider Frank's Batman to be an entirely different character, an Elseworlds character if you will.

I gotta go with Michael Ironside for it, He was perfect in that one TAS episode, and he'd be perfect for this one, he fits it to a tee.

I said it before, I'll say it again: Conroy's current Batvoice isn't half as good as it was in the early TAS episodes.
I sort of agree with this, as much as I still love Conroy. I love the grit, the baritone that he had in TAS, there was a big, intimidating factor to it that was lessened and softened over time.

I think he sounds perfect in the Arkham games.

Another Kevin Conroy argument... :awesome:

For the record, I find him acceptable for Dark Knight Returns.

But Ironside would also rock.

I just realized...

"TDKR" could mean either The Dark Knight Rises, or, The Dark Knight Returns.

Has SHH figured out a way to avoid any problems that can occur from this?

Yes, by spelling out the title instead of using acronyms :oldrazz:

The Dark Knight Returns is more commonly abbreviated as DKR, so when someone writes TDKR, I assume they mean Rises, and when they write DKR I assume they means returns.

... I hope!

Although I sometimes write "the DKR", because "the TDKR" would be silly, and sometimes it just fits better in the sentence than "TDKR" for me. Meh.

Edit: Example "the DKR site", that's mostly the case.

If I am talking about TDKR as in Returns I would think usually it is easy to tell what I mean by the context.

Not true, some takes on the character are similar (UTRH/BAA), so a comparison is fair.

Yeah... we need to find a system to differentiate the two. :\

I know what you mean, I actually prefer Rino Ramano for young Batman, but Kevin takes it for the older Batman. Michael Ironside was awesome as TDKReturns Batman in TNBA, but Kevin's Old Bruce voice would be perfect for TDKReturns Batman.
I think he sounds perfect in the Arkham games.

I actually think he peaked in Justice League.

However, I think part of the reason something sounds "Off" about him in the games is actually what's being seen, not what's being heard. They had such a great look for Batman in the DCUA; he always had this hard look on his face. By contrast, Batman in the Arkham games has sort of a dopey look on his face, haha, which sort of colours the way I perceive the dialogue.

Anyways, I'm stoked that Conroy and Hammil are voicing DKR. I'm going to pretend it's the canon continuation of the DCUA, haha.

Wait was it confirmed...?

I thought Romano said she would be open to considering it.

How so? Under the Red Hood's characters and story were taken exactly from a story in the comics. Batman Arkham Asylum was an original story and it was a looser adaptation of the comic character's. I don't see how they're similar.

So any news. Haven't been on all day. I'll take anything. New tweets? info? Anything?

You'll take anything!?
Christopher Judge confirmed his involvement in The Dark Knight Rises, in case you didn't know.

Nothing else that I know of. You have powers Goku, make things happen :awesome:

Age, current life situations, etc.

To be honest, I haven't paid much attention to news ever since the trailer and poster released. I swear to god, my urges and twitches are gone. :wow:

I'm just expecting that there won't be any major news for a while.

More set pics and news may turn up soon enough with the Pittsburgh shoot approaching however. Then I expect as we get into August we should have a promo pic or two.

I'm excited with the Pittsburgh shoot. I'm hoping that we get lots of set pics. :awesome:
