I'm not that happy at getting Affleck for the part. I think he can pull off Bruce Wayne, but a "meh" Batman. And Batman is who the character truly is while Bruce Wayne is the mask. So I can't say I'm looking forward to it much. I also know for a fact that Affleck has stated multiple times that he is done playing superheroes and that wearing the Daredevil suit was one of the most embarrassing things he ever did. Now all of a sudden he is playing the most popular and second most iconic superhero of our time. That gives me the vibe that he is mainly doing this for the money.
However, I am not surprised one bit at this point. The whole film looks like an entire mess at this point and I've completely given up on it. I disagree with everyone who is acting as if this will ruin the film or as if it is the worst decision they did so far with the film. It isn't. I am far more worried over Frank Miller's involvement in the script than I am over Affleck playing Batman.
Say what you want about MOS, but you can't deny that a lot of heart was put into it and that they at least tried their best to find a balance between Superman's larger-than-life godlike nature and his humanity (and in my opinion, they succeeded on that). This film doesn't even seem to have that. This was entirely WB's decision (Snyder even admitted it) and you can tell that both Snyder and Goyer are not happy with the decision. Heck, they only found out about it not too long before Comic Con and are currently in the process of doing the outline. No, not the script. The outline.
I feel like I am sitting here and am watching this film get worse and worse with each announcement. Of course that I could wrong and it could be good, but nothing looks good to me at this point other than the good things that will transition from MOS to this film.
