I think The Amazing Spider-Man 3 has a good shot if they're doing the Green Goblin again and Gwen's death.

Im almost positive Gwen's death will be dealt with at the end of this second Spidey movie. And I don't think another Green Goblin vs Spider-Man movie will be able to top TDK. Im looking forward to it and im sure they'll do it better than Raimi, but I just don't have that much faith in this new Spidey series. There's a lot of fantastic stuff but a lot of hokey crap too.

I waited on line for 10 hours at the NYC IMAX for the midnight showing of TDK. Saw it with a group of all my core friends who were all equally as excited and came from all over to make it into the city, some taking half days at work etc. I almost look back more fondly on those tantalizing hours waiting in line than seeing the actual movie. The anticipation was unbearable and the mood standing in line with hardcore fans, people in costume and even some press filming us was positively electric. I remember standing next to a guy who had already seen it via the viral campaign and I kept asking him questions and then immediately saying "No don't tell me!"...he just grinned evilly. Ah, good times.

Also that Seinfeld Rises thing is great lol. They should a "Worlds are Colliding!" one for Talia's death scene with Batman, Catwoman and Gordon looking on.

I sadly don't have any interesting TDK stories. The really sad part about my viewing experience was having to wait almost two weeks to see it due to visiting places outside of the country. Those were by far the most painful days of my life.

That is what worries me too. I really don't want her to die in the second one. It will be such a huge waste of potential, and I had about had it with so many movies wasting their potential recently.

I think a well done Death of Gwen Stacy film with a great Spider-Man and great GG has the potential to give TDK some competition, out of all the CBM's that have been announced recently. That story is one of the major factors that led to the end of the Silver Age. I liked what Webb did so far so I have faith in him and the franchise.

But anyways, back to Batman.

Yeah , seeing a villain taking control over Gotham promoting a egalitarian doctrine , exposing the corrupt justice system and the illegal convictions and by doing so creating his own kangaroo courts...when we could have had this

I was dissapointed with Bane as well. On top of his plan that made no sense and the Talia reveal at the end which killed Bane completely for me, I never felt the same impact as I did in Knightfall when Bane broke Batman. In Knightfall, Bane studied Batman in his prime, deduced his identity and came up with a plan to weaken him and then to break him. In TDKR, Bane just takes advantage of an already crippled Batman that hasn't been in the game for 8 years whose identity he knows most likely due to his connections to the LOS. Then Batman comes back and easily takes him out, we discover that his epic backstory was not his after all, and that he is not the master planner behind the plan. Then he gets stripped of his honor by getting him to point a gun at the man who beat him fair and square (the Bane from Knightfall would never do that; he would gain more respect for Batman) only to be easily taken out by Catwoman and forgotten for the rest of the movie.

*sigh*

It seems that no one is able to get Bane right. That saddens me. My dream to see the Bane from Knightfall outside of the comic still continues. What's worse is that Nolan has killed all complete chances of me seeing that Bane anytime soon, since nobody is going to redo Bane on the big screen anytime in the next few years.

Tom Hardy's performance was fantastic. I will give them that.

Let's be real. Following the Joker as a villain is no small order, and that goeS for easentially any CBM villain after 2008's TDK. It wasn't easy for the villains in the previous Batman series, either. IMO, Penguin, Riddler, and Two-Face were pale in comparison to Nicholson's Joker, who was admittedly awesome in his own right.

Following Heath's Joker, who reached instant icon status, was likely even tougher, but Bane was a great choice and I thought what Nolan did with him was brilliant. Thankfully, instead of going for a villain who might've come off as Joker 2.0 (wacky, zany, over-the-top, colorful), we got a Bane who was regimented and set in his ways, almost like a military leader or dictator (a fitting comparison many people were throwing around last year). Not only that, Bane finally gave Batman (and others) a physical threat. So it was smart to go with a villain that was sort of the anti-Joker. Plus, Tom Hardy was badass.

I actually thought Bane was one of the best things about TDKR.

Indeed he's the best thing in a mediocre movie (IMO...not starting WW3 here t but I just feel that a far greater dynamic relationship to Batman and Gotham could have been achieved. Also by keeping him under the shade of the league, Ra's and talia it felt like he had nowhere to go. He deserved to be an original independent force and something far more terrifying. The teaser trailer with him advancing on a seemingly terrified batman was right up my ally but seeing it in full and knowing his story I was like...that's it?

Hardy is the man no disagreement there t: Which is why it still doesn't sit well with me. He did very good with the little rope given to him and by no means is it his fault.

My problems with Bane have nothing to do with the Joker. I did not sit in theatre constantly comparing him to see how he lived up to Heath's Joker. My problems with Bane are that he was watered down and was not used anywhere to his full potential. It would have been a great way to end the "natural trilogy that was always meant to be a trilogy from day one" (as Nolan likes to put it) with a villain that was both physically and mentally on the same level as Batman.

Ah. Still trying to figure out how Nolan couldn't make Bane's voice sound as if it was actually coming from him while they were able to do just that with Darth Vader back in 1977.

As a big Spidey fan I 2nd that. Death Of Gwen Stay on the big screen would be revolutionary just as it was 40 odd years ago. Every 4 years this board gets a new favourite.

Yep. It literally brought the end of an era (the Silver Age). It would be revolutionary here as well since no one would expect it due to it not being done before (Rachel doesn't count since she was a side character, not that memorable, and not that important to the plot).

Let's hope both 2014 and 2016 will be Spidey's years.

Exactly. The setting in this universe was perfect and everything was in place to bring that idea of Bane to life via a few tweaks. It just feels like his potential was being restrained. The stage was set and I really believe that they were going to top the Joker by a suitable margin but it's like they saw his potential and said....the world isn't ready so we'll tone him down and hold back
