I still think it's pretty incredible that the IMDB scores for the trilogy are

TDK- 9.0
TDKR- 8.6
BB- 8.3

The only other superhero film to crack 8 is Avengers, with an 8.3.

While I personally think TDKR is the weakest film in the trilogy, I don't understand saying things like "let's hope if falls below Begins." I don't really care if my opinion is in the majority or not (I don't really give a dang about RT anyways) so I guess if more people end up liking TDKR than BB or vice versa... it makes no difference to me.

Its not a contest. I dislike this sort of thing just as much as I dislike Marvel v. DC fanboy wars, or Burton v. Nolan fanboy wars.

I've noticed the RT user scores of some CBMs are dropping lately.
TDK dropped 3%
TA dropped 5%
TDKR dropped 3%
TASM dropped 4%
CA: TFA dropped 3%
IM2 dropped 6%

I think they all recently got updated due to more users rating the movies.

I guess this explains SM1's low rating.

Or someone hacked it and added a bunch of spam votes. Bizarre that old movies changed so drastically overnight.

Taking responsibility would be giving us an extended cut; without IMAX time limitations.

I would love to see an extended cut. Unfortunately, Nolan is very religious about re-releasing versions of a film. He believes it cheats the audience if he releases another version of the film outside of the theatrical cut. The guy does not even want to admit whenever he had to even cut a scene out from any movie.

In other words, he is the complete polar opposite of George Lucas. You cannot get any more opposite than that.

I respect him for it, but out of all of Nolan's films; TDKR is the only one that definitely would benefit from an extended cut.

lol, so true. I'll take Nolan's approach on the matter any day, even if Rises suffered from it.

I think a lot of the problems with Rises were with the script anyways. You just can't cut a 600 page script down to that length without some stuff getting underdeveloped.

I don't think I would have had this sudden change of heart if nothing was cut out. However, I do think it would have made the film at least just a bit better.

I still think if the film were about 3 and a half hours it could have worked, but you can't deny cutting a script that big wouldn't have some glaring issues.

well thing is... it's not Nolans fault they couldn't release an 'extended' version. its not his fault that IMAX has constraints, so I wouldn't call it cheating the audience at all if they were to release it.

It's crazy to think that somewhere in a drawer is sitting Jonah's 500+ page version of this movie.

To me it's just an indication of how much detail and thought goes into the story even when things are left off screen. It's why it feels like there's a world beyond the frame. That's why it kills me when people call this script "lazy". On what planet do writers come up with enough ideas for an EIGHT hour movie and then actually write the whole thing out page by page just to use that as a starting point? That just doesn't happen. The Nolans are famously thorough. There's no way in hell Jonah's first draft was ever intended to be shootable. That was clearly an exercise on his part to get every last idea out of his system. He was indulging his creative process.

Look, there's nothing wrong with people having problems with the script. I only object when some say they just got lazy or try to imply that they didn't care as much. They were incredibly ambitious. Jonah with his outrageously robust first draft and Chris with his dedication to doing the scale of the film justice with the filmmaking.

TDKR didn't exactly have the best opening night.
