how does a fight prove anything about ideology? How does violence stop violence? You move people through ideas and by appealing to their hearts and minds. Aggression is intimidation. It's getting something by force. I don't want the foundation of the bruce/clark friendship and partnership to be some uneasy alliance where they tolerate each other's existence as some sort of balanced weights on a scale. I'd rather them find common ground and move past their differences in a real way so that they can become comrades.

It sounds like you ultimately get that, which is why you end by saying they would "talk it out." however, if talking is they key, it makes the fight rather meaningless, doesn't it? It also wouldn't explain how they could go from such vicious fighting to just talking when nothing had fundamentally changed between them, and they had supposedly been well aware of each other's ideologies before. They don't need to talk to each other to understand that.

From what i gather, there's a bit of a theme running in the film about isolation as a result of becoming jaded. Both bruce and diana sound like they've either become more aggressive or departed the hero business because they have suffered losses or grown cynical. Superman, by contrast, is connecting with people. He's living and loving. Also, his appearance on the scene might have made diana and bruce more introspective about their roles in the world as heroes. Ultimately, superman not only showing that he hadn't given up hope, he had made connections, he had humanity, but also demonstrating his values and strength by fighting for love and dying to save others, bring about a turning point. It all gets bruce and diana to embrace hope and heroism again, and the world can be assumed to follow. That's powerful, as far as i'm concerned, if it is indeed how the movie goes.

spot on

That is some wonderful analysis.

The Ma Kent thing is weird, imo. We've seen the shot of her surprised in the restaurant, and seeing as nothing else was mentioned about that, I assume that means she was kidnapped from the diner? So she's jacked in front of a crowd of people? Sounds sloppy.

Agreed but strangely enough, I could still see it as being the actual case based on all of the clips and footage that we've seen. So either these guys were so crafty to study every piece of footage and news that they heard to create this or they actually saw the film.lol

Hello All -

I've been lurking these forums since Man of Steel and finally felt compelled to register and post. I'm not one for surprises and I always read movie spoilers. I can't get my head around these supposed spoilers and really can't believe the direction they went with a lot of the stuff. I've been a DC fan all my life and consider myself pretty familiar with the characters. I really hope these leaks are completely false. My issues...

- Batman wipes the floor with Superman...? Don't get me started. But, Batman is supposedly going to KILL him before being talked out of it by Lois? KILL HIM? This is supposedly the same guy that will never kill a serial killer like the Joker...? Then he goes from wanting to murder the guy to being best buds with him because his mom's name is Martha. Horrible writing. The original script leak had Superman winning with Batman imploring him to kill him (as a test). When Supes didn't, he passed the test. That sounds like a MUCH better result that makes way more sense.

- Superman successfully gets blackmailed to fight Batman (to the death) by Lex to save Martha...? Nope. That would never happen. If this is true, it's HORRIBLE writing.

- Batman saves Martha for Supes...? So he beats the crap out of him then has to save his mom for him? How much weaker could they make Superman look?

- A Superman death this early in his development also makes zero sense. The public is still divided on him, so wouldn't a good amount be happy he dies? Once again, nonsense. His death in the comics came when he was universally loved and was a "veteran".

This all seems like lazy writing to me and also seems like a ridiculous pandering to Batman's fanbase, all while making Superman look weaker than Spiderman.

Does anyone else find these things to be horribly written? (FYI - I didn't mind Zod's killing the way it was done in MoS)

Rant over. Thanks for reading.

This thread is starting to suck and not because of spoilers, Some reactions are just way too annoying and it's superman fans vs bat fans, which means it'll soon be vice verse. Certain name calling("bat wank")has started and now over dramatic sentences("this movie is dead to me now"/"deep breaths")too

But still, here I still am, at least until I read stuff from people in Mexico who saw the film tonight .

Superman fans vs Bat fans....why does that sound familiar?? Oh....because it's Batman vs Superman in the movie. They fight....I guess it all makes sense.

If only it was badass like the movie though but it ain't, Just ass!

Not that difficult to be familiar with every piece of footage. I am.....not in detail cause I generally don't watch clips multiple times (only trailers), but it can be done.

Didn't someone who saw the film (the EW guy?) say this film would potentially split the fandom? Not surprised at the attitudes. But let's wait and see if this is actually the film's plot first!

I think people (superman fans especially, including myself) need to remember that even though we might want to see Big Blue kicking ass and taking names all or most of the time, he is a nice guy, first and foremost. That doesn't mean he can't throw down when need be, but he doesn't revel in it or go for the jugular like someone as jaded and hardened as batman might. That may mean that we'll see him lose at some point, but if they keep his character intact, his loss will be related to a reluctance to hurt someone or desire to save them or an inability to see all the knives aimed at his back by a collective people he's adopted.

I feel the same way.

Guys if batmsn goes straight from his fight with Supes to the warehouse fight, where does he get the new suit. Pics shoe the cowl underneath the mech suit is ripped as well. I actually like a lot of the supposed leak, but the more I think about it, the more holes I see in it. Obviously I haven't seen the film so it may sll connect. Either way 6:15 Thursday can't get here fast enough!

Batman isn't a killer either. Remember, he's a good guy. That's why I was never a fan of that line in Hush about him not being a good guy deep down (while Clark is). It's the opposite. Bruce is a good guy deep down, but the surface is a whole different story.

The guy at EW never said that

Although bickering between Batman/Superman fans has been a given the moment they announced the movie

It's a damn good thing for me that I like both, Batman is my #1 hero but Supes is on my top 5-10 list

Never said he was a killer. I meant that he has a certain ruthlessness at times that Clark usually doesn't.

It shows a cowl underneath the armored suit? Didn't look like it to me.

The thing is this Batman has fallen from grace. A character arc in this movie is Bruce rediscovering what heroism really means and overcoming all his emotional baggage.

I think one of the BIGGEST reasons why people can't see this version of batman being a killer is because of the fact that the Joker and the rest of the Suicide Squad are alive; people that Batman is responsible for putting in prison.

If this Batman was capable of killing, then he would have long since killed the Joker for having killed "Robin".

Hopefully him trying to kill Clark is a load of crap then.

Honestly, I just accept this plot hole.

This is kind of how I approached The Dark Knight Trilogy. If Batman was willing to let Ra's al Ghul die, then why didn't he let the Joker fall to his death? Why didn't he just blow Bane away with the Bat?

At this point, I accept the need to preserve some status quo.

There's always been a distinct line between not saving and actually killing in comics
