Del Rio needs a more intresting Gimmick/Persona as well as better storylines. His wrestling skills are good though he has potential.

This. I knew from the moment Del Rio beat Mysterio clean on day one that he would be a star and for the most part, he had a fantastic year in 2011: Won the biggest Royal Rumble to date, was in an awesome main event for SD at Wrestlemania, took credit for ending Edge's career, had one of the best ladders against Christian, won MITB, won the WWE Championship twice, took out Mysterio, and won a Hell In The Cell.

All those accomplishments in a single year is quite impressive. Del Rio's only problem is not being given the ball for a long period of time since there's too many cooks in the kitchen.

He needs to be drafted to Smackdown, do more dastardly things as a heel to get heat, and be the World Heavyweight Champion at least for 3 to 6 months. If they can get that right, I think Del Rio will finally be taken seriously.
Yep. I was very impressed with the way he won the Hell in the Cell against Cena and Punk. I believe that was a moment I took his character seriously as a believable and dangerous bad guy.

I think that if they drop, or at least tone down, the whole "It's my destiny bla-bla" crap, and instead focus on him being nefarious and power-hungry belt ****e who is presented as a threat on both a physical and intelectual level (not unlike Triple H in his heel years, for example), he'd be great.

Another championship run will do him good, I agree, as will a feud with a strong face figure. Sheamus, maybe? If booked right, they both could come out looking better than before.

So I just got my cable turned back on, and decided to put on some TNA just for the crap of it.

Just turned it on, but let me get this straight...

-Jeff Hardy is a face now
-Jeff Hardy and Sting are friends
-Roode is a heel
-Beer Money is broken up
-Abyss is a face
-Kurt Angle is a heel
-Sting is the on-air authority figure

Did they just flip everything in TNA to the opposite of what it was the last time I watched? Is this bizarro-TNA???

Oh well, at least the Knockouts are still hot.

If its Bizarro TNA then I want more of it. Impact's been the best its been in years. While the changes were poorly handled they were all for the best.

Stings been forgiving to a fault for 25 years so his actions makes perfect sense. If he can trust Flair and the Horsemen I can buy him giving Jeff Hardy another chance. Would be out of character for a main of faith like him not to turn the other cheek.

Beer Moneys breakup and Roodes heel turn were messed up but Roode as a heel is the best thing going in TNA. Beer Money needed to break up sooner or later. Fans have been *****ing for years about WWE rejects and old timers hogging the main event. Now we have Roode and Storm as two of the top stars. Two TNA originals. Can't see how anybody could complain about that. Younger talent finally getting pushed in both companies.

Thank God Prichard took over. I'm really starting to see the changed now. If an abrupt change in everything led to Prichard replacing Russo Bischoff and Hogan as the main creative force then I can easily look past a lot of problems. Those guys were choking the company. Hopefully Prichard doesn't screw up.

As for Rock vs Cena Cena doesn't even need to turn heel but he HAS to grow some balls. Hopefulyl The intensity between Cena and Rock escalates soon and Cena drops his doormat act and fights fire with fire with the Rock. Michaels didn't have to turn heel to challenge Cena 5 years ago. He just showed some attitude. Cena needs to do the same.

Also, am I the only one that believes that the WWE has double standards when it comes to treatment of superstars?

Take for example the recent heat on Evan Bourne, especially through Twitter. Now if Randy Orton or John Cena tweeted the same things as Bourne did, the WWE would do absolutely nothing. Also, Orton, Cena, Triple H and the Undertaker are the only ones in the WWE who Michael Cole isn't allowed to bury. He can't call Cena a dork or a loser like he does with Daniel Bryan.

It's a damn shame that Kevin Kelly is the best play by play man in wrestling today.

If WWE had any sense they would at least try to hire him back. The stuff between he and Rock alone could be gold.

Not really, Owen didn't want to be WWF champion and if you recall the HBK/Taker match was as much about integrating Mike Tyson and having Kane burn Taker in the casket as it was anything else. Owen's first promo back was very similar to Matt Hardy's in the wake of the Edge/Lita affair, a promo with no charisma and too many mistakes for Vince to see top guy potential. This was also an era where the WWF title match went on last and HBK vs Taker was a much bigger match than HBK vs Owen at a big 4 PPV.

Owen was too laid back and nice to really hold a major grudge against Michaels even though I'm sure he didn't like what was going down. Bret took the business too seriously. Owen not so much.

Owen COULD have been world champion but he had no desire to work that hard for the top spot. It was a job to him and he was making good money in his spot.

Best Owen would have done was a transitional champion or brief thank you run. Not necessarily because he wasn't good enough but because he had little interest in all that.

I think he felt bad about what he did to Austin. Its just as more and more time passed he probably got more and more afraid or ashamed to call because it took so long so he just avoided it.

Yeah he has the in ring ability and the look. Even the charisma. But his promos are so "wtf" that he can't get it across. And he's been hotshotted to everything without being tested most of the time. Poor booking. They think they can just GIVE someone like him instant credibility but it doesn't always work like that.

The Mysterio feud went on forever. Christian was the best test he had. Edge went down before they could really let that play out.

He had a good year as far as accomplishments but most of them were hollow. His WWE title reigns were meaningless and his Royal Rumble win was one of the most anti climactic I've ever seen. It ended with a Santino comedy spot and his title shot was a Wrestlemania curtain jerker...which he lost. Maybe he should have won THIS years Rumble to challenge for the WHC.

When Del Rio is being all ruthless and visious his actually pretty entertaining. They should push his character in that direction more.

Him using that arm breaker of his to put people out was a great idea. I'd love to see them play up more of his submission ability.

I think Kevin Kelly is slightly above average as a play by play man, but he's better than Cole, Matthews, and Tenay. I'd like to hear him working with Booker or Regal(Who should be doing color work on Raw or SD).

I don't think Kevin Kelly wants to return and do this again:

LOL probably not.

It's mind boggling that Vince thinks that Cole and Lawler's commentary is good. Booker is the only one who is entertaining.

So from going from being almost out the door, word going around now is that Drew McIntyre is set for a (big) push.

Agree with those who have high hopes for Del Rio. I handled better and given beter treatment, he has the potential to be big.

personally they should have played up the whole rodriguez is his manager aspect.

after that video got released, they could have totally repackaged del rio and added more to the group

Show something Drew, for the love of God show something. Have an awesome match or cut a good promo: do something to justify WWE giving you these chances.

I did not watch Smackdown early. I did not.

I love the antics of heel Bryan.

He already has the crowd against him.

It's pretty early but I have to say, I think I prefer heel Bryan to WWE face Bryan.

"YES! YES! YES!"

Is Drew McIntyre a poorly “Chosen One”?
By: Alex Giannini January 5, 2012

Without question, Mr. McMahon has an eye for talent. That much has been obvious since his earliest days at the helm of WWE. So when he hand-picks a Superstar and declares him bound for greatness, the WWE Universe is sure to take notice. In Drew McIntyre’s case, just such a prediction by Mr. McMahon led to lofty expectations and the moniker of “The Chosen One.” Back in 2009, Mr. McMahon personally signed McIntyre to SmackDown, seeing in the young Superstar traits that both impressed the Chairman and reminded Mr. McMahon of himself.

Recent events, however, have called Mr. McMahon’s predictions into question. Is Drew McIntyre a false prophet? Is he, in fact, proving Mr. McMahon wrong?

The Scottish Superstar has returned to SmackDown in an effort to live up to the Chairman’s prediction that he will one day become a World Champion. However, things haven’t exactly gone according to plan, and as Michael Cole stated on the last SmackDown of 2011, Drew McIntyre has devolved from “The Chosen One” to “The Desperate One” in recent weeks.

After bringing McIntyre back into the SmackDown fold, General Manager Theodore Long had some pointed words for him on the Dec. 30 edition of SmackDown. Laying down the law, Long informed McIntyre that if he doesn’t start winning matches, he could end up fired.

Long reassured McIntyre that he’s one of the most talented Superstars in WWE today, but he also made clear that there was something missing. The General Manager then insinuated that “The Chosen One” may be lacking the passion that he displayed when he first arrived in WWE. At the end of their uneasy exchange, McIntyre told Teddy to watch his match against Ezekiel Jackson for an answer to all of Long’s concerns.

It wasn’t the answer he envisioned, though. A pinfall loss to Jackson left McIntyre pleading his case to Teddy, claiming referee bias. The argument did nothing to sway SmackDown’s GM, who drove home his feelings about the Scottish Superstar. “I can’t stand losers, playa,” Long said. “Especially losers that make excuses.”

Frustrated, and perhaps more than a little worried for his livelihood, McIntyre walked away and left the General Manager—and the WWE Universe—with unanswered questions.

Can Drew McIntyre get the job done and live up to the lofty expectations laid upon him by Mr. McMahon? Or will the Scottish Superstar find himself on the chopping block, courtesy of Theodore Long?

:awesome:

But Michael Cole is still going to call him a loser.

I really want Drew McIntyre to win me over. There has to be something there that Pat Patterson and Triple H saw, because besides a great double armed DDT, he just bores me.

With the new developments regarding McIntyre, I'm anticipating he will be this years MitB winner, or one of them.

I was thinking and to me the only way Cena can sell a heel turn in the likes of what Hogan did when he joined the NWO is if Cena gave the attitude adjustment to a fan and then goes on a rant like Hogan did. I say this because when Hogan did that leg drop it was like he did a leg drop on all his fans at the same time. Cena needs to do the same thing.

But all of his fans are either women or nine years old. Do you wanna see him hit the attitude adjustment on a ni.....actually that would be hilarious. I support this idea.
