The Wrestling Thread is now nothing but recaps from last week - Part 71

Maybe Wade and Christian could feud, but at this stage, I'd like to see an interesting storyline that can pull more of out Christians character.

He could have been a main event long-term player for WWE if they allowed him to be. It's a shame Vince sees no value in him.

I'm a Christian fan, don't get me wrong, but I never really saw in him as being main event material, either as a face or heel. I always saw him as Bob Orton to Edge's Piper.

Was there a Wade Barrett promo video last night?

Yes there was I could be wrong but I think this was it

also

While it wasn't mentioned on last night's RAW, PWInsider reports that Brodus Clay vs. Damien Sandow is still booked for Sunday's SummerSlam pay-per-view from Los Angeles.

That promo was silly but I like the character change.

I find it upsetting to see Christian buried like this, but at the same time, if I put myself in a WWE booker's position, I also wouldn't really know what else to do with him, to be honest.

However, I'd be curious to see how Christian would do in the color commentator role.

Christian could be used in the mid card to keep the I.C. prestigious. I have no problem with him jobbing to Sandow but it was a complete waste. Instead of doing something meaningful they just disregard everything for a throw away match on RAW. that's a bunch of b.s. Christian deserves better.
He's a good talker and I love seeing him contribute to dvd documentaries. I wonder if he could be a decent actor.

Obviously you've missed the last few Raws. What have Taker, HHH, and even Lesnar done most of the time what was an outstanding part of show?

How can the younger guys put on a show when they don't even get a chance to be on tv as much? Less recaps of the old timers and more time for the younger guys to show what they have MIGHT actually help them...*gasp*

Punk and Cena have been booked in a mediocre programs recently but both of them have PROVEN they have what it takes to put on as good or better a main event than those so called part timers. Punk vs Cena blew Cena vs Rock away with one tenth the buildup.

The part timers are entertaining but it seems like they are throwing a wrench at the creative process. It's difficult to work around their schedule.

He was in a film called Dark Rising.

I have no idea how long his current deal last, but I sincerely hope he's made enough money that he can walk away from WWE and go back to TNA where he would be treated like he mattered.

Will TNA take him back with open arms though?

I'd like to have him back in TNA if they are willing to use him right.

Ok not been able to see Raw but are the writers having 2nd thoughts about turning Punk heel?I've only read the results and from the description it seems like they leaning more towards a tweener

I see him as a solid, yet not spectacular main event player, similar to a Bob Backlund. He would certainly be better than Del Rio, Sheamus, or Orton.

I think he would shine as a heel.

I'm sure they would. The question is would he want to go back. He left TNA so he could make the most money while he could in WWE, and due in part to the fact his star was outshined once Kurt Angle and Sting were given the spotlight.

Punk hasn't crossed over into full heel territory. He's just feeling angry and disrespected. It could be really interesting if they keep the pace.

Thanks. I checked some of it out on yt. It's a bad film but Christian seems natural.

I don't mind Christian jobbing but it was in a throw away match. Doesn't do nearly as much for building talent as it could.

I always saw Christian as a guy who could float between midcard and main event. People said Bryan would NEVER make it to that same level and he did. Christian could have been more than WWE thinks.

Picked up Undertaker:The Streak DVD earlier,I've seen all of the matches But felt like getting it anyway,Will check it out later today!!

I'm shocked they haven't done more with Magnus. I for sure thought he was going to get a push out of the BFG series and not Joe. He'd make a good top heel down the road. He still needs some seasoning, but he has become quite good. I wouldn't mind seeing what RVD has a heel. That could be interesting. He's stale as can be and needs something to give his character some juice.

With Magnus the plan is probably a slow build given his age, I think he'll take the TV title off Devon and defending it each week will be a good showcase for him. RVD is basically the same guy as a heel or face, my guess is he'll see out his year and then leave.

That's not a bad idea to have Sting, AJ, and Aries take on the Aces & 8s. It might be a waste of AJ and Aries though. I think they would be better serve in a singles match somewhere so we can get some great wrestling on the card. Hardy and Angle might be better served to be in that match to give it some star power.
I think Angle is more likely as you say given he was attacked by Aces & 8's, but I think Aries would be well sereved by being in the team as he's been involved in the storyline and it makes him important, Jeff hasn't really been in the angle and sadly I think AJ will be in some sort of blow-off match for the dreadful baby daddy angle. :(

I want to see this moment in front of bigger and fresh audience in Arizona.

Aye, that was one of the best moments in recent TNA, it'll be nice to see it at the end of a really good match this time.

I'm betting they are willing to sacrifice Roode's reign in order to have the babyface win to close the show. Hogan axed Roode's win at BFG last year and TNA received major heat for it. I believe they'll follow through this year to give back to the fans. Plus, it would mess up the story they laid out at Lockdown, not to mention the last time a face won in the main event was 2009. It is due time.

I hope you're right but I'm not totally sure because TNA may see the Aces & 8's angle as bigger than everything right now, plus if Storm does win there is a distinct lack of challenger options.

I see your point. I am biased since I'm a huge AJ mark and felt he got hosed during is title run by the Hogan regime when they signed

Oh I agree, the way they had him drop the belt to RVD on an Impact was a disgrace.

At his age I think Christian will stay with WWE, pick up a legends deal and maybe become a road agent.

I skimmed through SD, is it me or are the AJ/Bryan segments coming off like Vince making Bryan a fool? having this little girl emasculate him all the time?

Cesaro vs Christain was good but should have ended with the Swiss death spear counter, Christians hug of doom is even worse than Edge's.

I dislike face Jericho but the segment with Vickie was solid but I'm starting to fear Jericho will go over at Summerslam.

The only other part I saw was the solid Rey/Miz match.

so is there a Chris Jericho DVD set?

Yup!

This may sound a bit sacrilegious, but Bryan is much better than Christian was in his prime, it's hard to compare the two.

- There was a talent meeting held before Monday's RAW in Dallas, Texas. Talents were given the chance to speak up about being unhappy and reportedly, nobody did. The meeting apparently ended with everyone being told to use common sense and be careful with social media.

- We noted before that some of the WWE midcard talents were upset about being paid just $500 per night for working the recent tour of Central and South America. The reason given by a source was that talents are usually paid more for international tours but this one wasn't as successful.

In an update, WWE officials sent out a memo to the talents who worked the tour and said there was a clerical error when payments were done. New, increased payments are to be issued to the talents soon.

The woman portraying Claire Lynch—purportedly pregnant with AJ Styles' child—on Impact Wrestling is Julia Reilly, an Orlando-based actress and model. After her identity was exposed last week by Live Audio Wrestling and across wrestling message boards, Reilly made a concerted effort to erase her Internet presence.

Her official website, JuliaReilly.net, had featured her lengthy resume of television commercial appearances, as well as photos and videos, but all content was removed following the outing. She also has a YouTube channel featuring her demo videos, such as herself selling RoboMops on the Home Shopping Network, hosting various cooking shows and appearing in a Subway commercial, but all have been made private. Her page on LinkedIn was also deleted.

Reilly's description of herself on her official website had stated, "Julia's true talent lies in her warm approachable personality and her ability to deliver technical jargon in a conversational manner.

"In a live enviroment, Julia is excellent at gathering a crowd and able to connect with customers to successfully deliver your company’s message.

"On camera, Julia is friendly, personable and believable."

According to The Wrestling Observer, Vince McMahon was reportedly upset with "Rowdy" Roddy Piper's performance during the Piper's Pit segment on Raw last night.

Piper's rambling during the segment was said to be noticeable, and as a result, Vince instructed Michael Cole via his headset to bury the segment on the live broadcast.

Bryans a better TALKER? No way. Bryan's a better wrestler but Christian has always had a stronger gift of gab and humor and lets be honest in WWE world that matters more. Has for almost 30 years. Each has a strength over the other but as an overall package they've both had their detractors. As total packages its not very easy to say one is better than the other when one does something better than the other.

The thing thats held Bryan and Christian back more than anything and been percieved as their biggest weakness are their "looks"/builds/physique. Thats the biggest reason people have said they wouldn't make it. Its the same thing thats always said. Its the same thing that was said about Cody Rhodes early on.

When Bryan and Christian did get shots with main event gold they both delivered pretty well.
