Xbox The Xbox One - - Part 14

Very interesting design and name. I dig the green flashing light on top!

Can't wait to see an overview of it with all the ports and connecting cords

They arent even trying to make this thing look like a console. It's nothing more than a prebuilt gaming PC. I expect like most prebuilt gaming PCs it will have upgradable hardware. And every couple years they will release new hardware for it. Instead of needing to buy a whole new mid gen console, like the Xbox One X, you'll just have to buy the new hardware for the Xbox you already have. But because they wont want a person being able to just put any regular sort of PC hardware in it they will make the hardware and the upgrades proprietary so only XBox series X hardware works.

And I hate the colored LED light craze that has plagued PC gaming so Microsoft putting that huge obnoxious green spotlight on the top is frustrating. Hopefully I can keep that covered up or turn it off.

I can already imagine a shorter and slimmer version within 4 years.

Maybe we can customize the led light and you can at least have it be black to match the console

People are saying it's still an Xbox One, it's just a much more powerful one.

But I guess we'll get more info soon.
I guess having full BC makes a next generation console just a much more powerful upgrade rather than a new line. The lack of compatibility from one gen to the other is probably what more clearly defined the difference in previous generations.

You really do need backwards compatibility in this day and age though.

it would be a welcome surprise if MS announced ALL OG Xbox and 360 games were BC on the new Xbox, not just the currently approved games.

btw......what will we be calling the new Xbox? Xbox X? XBX? XSX? Samantha??

So I assume gamepass will be the same on the new one and transfer over on day 1

I'll just call it Xbox and type it as XSX

It'll be very interesting to see if PS5 also goes the direction of being closer to a PC or embraces still being a full on gaming console.

They could be a bigger alternative than they are now between PS4 and Xbox One

I remember when they were touting consoles as the entertainment hub of the home.

so, do you think the Series X reveal trailer hinted at other launch titles?

the trailer showed car racing, soccer, and Master Chief.

Halo Infinite is already known. But, do you think the car racing means a Forza game will be a launch title, as well as a Fifa game?

While a Fifa game probably won't be exclusive, both a new Forza and Fifa game as launch titles is a real possibility.

Forza is a given. This is the first year we haven't seen one since they launched Horizon. We should've got a Motorsports this year, so I imagine Series X will launch with a new Motorsports.

Forza sure. The consoles usually launch with one as it is one of the best next gen graphical showcases especially for more casual gamers. Fifa is an annual title too so that will be available too.

yeah, we are due for Forza Motorsport 8.

though, after watching the reveal trailer, I now kind of want Forza Horizon 5 in a canyon setting!

Fifa is not my thing, but a launch lineup I'd like to see would be:

Halo Infinite
Forza 8
Killer Instinct 2
Another 1st party title
3rd party titles

I usually don't care much about exclusive titles but the more at launch, the better because of gamepass. Halo Infinite being a launch title and on gamepass on day 1 is big and so having more like Forza or Killer Instinct 2 or something new would be huge for it's lineup.

I'm thinking Xbox Series X will launch at $500 at the lowest and so getting or being able to transfer ultimate gamepass would be awesome and handy

Killer Instinct 2 would change things up totally for me. Halo, Forza and KI would keep me busy as those all have strong replay value.

can you imagine what KI 2 would look like with a proper budget and the power of next gen?? :drl:

and the next Forza Horizon?

and the next Elder Scrolls or Dragon Age or Mass Effect game?

I honestly don't know how much better you can make KI look? It has a certain aesthetic to it, that isn't supposed to be realistic, and I think they've reached it. I don't really know where else they could go?

But I am excited for Forza. Not only will it look better, but it'll load faster, and they're always tweaking the physics engine. So I can't wait for that.

KI doesn't have to look ultra-realistic, but there's no doubt the power of next gen will make the graphics look better.

and graphics aside, what KI needs the most is an upgrade to a fuller budget and being treated as a key title. Being Xbox's only real exclusive fighter (that I can think of), MS would be wise to make KI a solid, core Xbox franchise.

it would be nice if Xbox could get or develop other exclusive fighting franchises, too. And it can't miss out on Street Fighter 6, whenever that comes out.

I just hope the next Killer Instinct is a full game with some dlc and not a seasonal thing again where the base game is free to play but most characters are purchasable and thus not worth getting until it's all bundled together.

Day one on gamepass as a full title with dlc only being some new characters or content plz!

same. I didn't like that approach to the 1st game.
