well, fingers crossed. I maybe reuniting with my old friend Mr. Xbox One X.

Apparently there's this game called Fallout 76, which didn't do too well and nobody really liked. As such, the Fallout 76 X1X bundle is $100 cheaper than the standard X1X bundles.

the only problem is that the Fallout bundle is usually Sold Out both online and in stores. So when I saw Add to Cart available, I jumped on that fast. Also comes with digital copy of Madden 20, which is a bonus I'll take since I normally wouldn't buy that game.

Hopefully I was fast enough. Guess I'll know once it actually ships. My on again off again relationship with Xbox continues.....haha.

I’m not sure if that crazy gamepass deal is on (Ultimate) where you can get it super cheap but you might be interested in that. Mortal Kombat was on it when I last looked and Gears 5 will be. That already pays for itself. I got 3 years for £1 a month due to stacking my Xbox Gold in advance of subscribing.

Status says "getting ready" and I can no longer cancel/make changes to the order, which is usually a sign it's ready to ship.

Ha true, but that will be very unlike you and disappointing to the retailers. They usually rely on at least one X Knight Xbox purchase and return per month. You are good for keeping their figures stable.

Looks like Forza 6 is now available for free with GWG. Also, the Forza 6 Complete Add Ons Collection is massively discounted at $5.00 ( instead of $99 ), but only 4 days left on that.

Oh, and it looks like Castlevania Lord of Shadow is a 360 GWG game as well, and that's free now, too.

as an aside, I can confirm that the X model is indeed quieter and overall snappier than the S model.

before I ordered this X bundle, I briefly tried out a cheap, used S model. Thought that would be sufficient to tide me over until next year when Scarlett arrives.

But the fan on the S was so noisy ( similar to what I experienced a few years ago when I tried the S model before ) and the system just felt overall sluggish in navigation and response time.

The graphics on the S, while passable, were indeed a downgrade from what I had been used to on the X ( and PS4 Pro ). You can tell the difference in overall quality of the graphics.

I guess that's why they say, you get what you pay for. In this case, the X model is definitely worth the extra money, especially if you can find the bundle that's $100 off like I did.

Yeah, the X is a noticeable upgrade on the S. I'm really glad they came out with these mid-gen refresh consoles.

yeah. and the sound quality on the X is better too. once you try the souped up X, it's really hard to go back to the S.

it makes you wonder how things would have turned out if MS went for power at the beginning of the gen and released a beast of a console then. Obviously, they wouldn't have included the 4K factor, but they could have released the more powerful console at launch where games noticeably looked and played better.

Might have given them that early advantage. They definitely need to play the power card again next gen, because Sony is going to be playing it too.

Now the plan I believe over the long next gen is to start competing again on exclusives where they had given up no way that gamepass is going to be a big focus. They seem to want every X-box customer to sign up for it and make it too good a deal to refuse. People stay loyal when they have a service like that and also revenues become much more stable and predictable which in turn makes future investment much easier and less risky.

and the ultimate irony is, I actually like and appreciate the multi-media features of the Xbox One. I like that there's a browser. And that there are TONS of apps to download. And that there is an extra HDMI throughput in the console, which lets you hook other devices to it. And I like the X actually has a 4K player ( unlike the Pro.....cough cough ).
