Xbox The Xbox One - - Part 14

I've been thinking about Phil Spencer and other's in charge. Is Bill Gates involved at all besides being co-creator/owner?

In the old days magnets were as issue with affecting TVs and I've seen it have an obvious effect on a TV before after a few months. But modern tech is more likely to be magnetically shielded I believe. Good to be aware of issues like these though.
guess that means Magneto is banned from shopping at Best Buy. :o :oldrazz:

speaking of Gates, I kind of wish I had played the Original Xbox.

I'm sure glad I did! I miss it sometimes. Not just for the games but I liked the design and simple user interface. Plus, black and green are 2 of my favorite colors(also blue and gray)

yeah, I'm surprised I never owned the OG Xbox. Looking back at that gen, I had the PS2 as my main console. I had Dreamcast briefly and even the Gamecube briefly towards the end of its cycle. But not the OG Xbox.

I think that period was kind of a "lull" in my gaming activity. other than playing PS2, I was kind of getting out of games. I didn't even make the switch to HDtv until 2008, which was already a few years into the next gen. But when I did switch, I got the 360 first and gamed on that for a full year before getting a PS3. which could explain why I still have that affinity towards Xbox.

if I had the space in my gaming area, I'm almost tempted to buy a used OG Xbox and/or 360, just to be able to play more of those old games.

hopefully, once Series X releases, MS will continue to add more games to the BC lineup for both the OG Xbox and 360. it would be nice to have one console that could truly play ALL games from ALL generations.

hmmm........looks a bit smaller in real life, which is a good thing actually.

I only see one HDMI port. but what's that long, thin port next to the HDMI port?

also, this thread needs a name change. It should be just the Xbox thread so we can discuss all things Xbox.

Looks pretty cool. Also does look small but don’t really have perspective in these pics. Seems to be a USB on the front. Not sure what the long, thin one is.

Yeah, true. A mod can do it.

yeah, I want to see pics of it next to a tv or other devices to get a better perspective of its size.

and I'm glad there's a front USB port and that access to it is unobstructed by the design.

I like the overall design of the Series X. Simple and clean.

my only concern is the size, both vertical and horizontal. hope it's not too tall either way that I have a hard time placing it in my media cabinet.

It's alright but stands out like a sore thumb among all the other xbox's. The original and 360 Elite are still my favorite designs but the new one could look awesome under a special edition

The size looks exactly how it's been pictured in the official pics. It's not that wide. Look at the official pics of the controller next to it. It's not wider than a controller. These leaked pics look correct to me.

If these are real(and it looks like it), it sucks that there's only one HDMI and only 3 USBs. They need a minimum of 4 USBs. But how knows, it clearly says it's a prototype, so things can change.

3 USBs is enough for me. though, with all the accessories and things to hook up to the console, I suppose 4 would have been nice. They could prob have put 2 on front and 2 in back. I'm sure some 3rd party will release a USB hub to attach to the front port.

Also, apparently that slim port next to the HDMI port is a diagnostic port on the prototype that won't be on the consumer version.

Good to know on that weird port. Otherwise I’d rather have more ports too and I hope we get them in the final version.

I currently only use up 2 USB ports, so 3 would be fine as I would probably just use 2 again. More than 3 options would always be cool though

I guess the Bleeding Edge beta is this weekend. anyone here try it out?

I'm curious to hear reactions/impressions on this game.

so what happens to Game Pass games that you've already downloaded and installed but then leave Game Pass?

do you lose access to those games once they leave GP? Can you still play them as long as they are downloaded/installed on your console?

I reckon installed games stay installed but you can't play them if you're not an active subscriber.

My Game Pass for PC subscription ends this Friday and still have one game installed. I can confirm it to you then.

ah, thanks!

Official Xbox Series X Specs!

What You Can Expect From the Next Generation of Gaming - Xbox Wire

12 Teraflops
Variable Rate Shading
Hardware Raytracing
Quick Resume for Multiple Games

Looks good. Next gen is starting to take shape with concrete info. now, just the price for Series X. and awesome new exclusives from the Xbox Studios.

and of course whatever Sony has to reveal with the PS5. They've been holding all their cards close to their chest. Now that official Xbox specs are out, it's time for Sony to make their move.

The 12 Teraflops will be the # to beat or match for Sony if they want to play the power game. Otherwise, they are going to have to be close to around 10 Teraflops but at $100 cheaper.

If both consoles are $500, but Series X is 12 TF while PS5 is only around 9 TF, then that is not going to look too good for Sony. They will have to rely on brand power and their exclusives, as they will be conceding a big power gap.

However, if PS5 can get in around 10 TF and $100 cheaper at $400, then that would lessen the power gap. If they can show how amazing PS5 games will look, especially their exclusives, even though PS5 will be weaker on paper than Xbox, and it's $100 cheaper, then consumers will most likely flock to the cheaper console that "looks good enough."

MS is definitely taking the initiative for next gen and revealing their stuff first, that's for sure.
